I have been with this company for crawlspace mold prevention for over 10 years. Unfortunately the service did not live up to what was promised. We were assured the treatment would prevent mold issues, but a third party mold test indicated a severe problem that had been going on for years. When I contacted the company to address this, the follow-up was disappointing. Communication was misleading, and no effective solution was offered despite the guarantees that were part of the sales pitch. Given the cost and the expectations set upfront, this experience was frustrating. I would not recommend this company for crawlspace mold prevention based on my experience.

This is the WORST company I have EVER dealt with. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! I paid them $150 to come spray my yard for bugs & the only thing they did was spray the bricks on the perimeter on my house. The yard was not sprayed, the bushes was not sprayed, ONLY the brick at the bottom of the home. When my husband called them about this the guy had the WORST attitude. He kept the conversation with my husband going in circles for 20 minutes about how spraying for ants was a different service than just spraying my yard for bugs like we asked them to do. NONE of this was explained to us beforehand & there was no written contract. We told them we had ants & asked to have our yard sprayed. Now all this drama because they did a poor job & only spent 5 minutes doing what I could have done myself with some Ortho spray. They weren't answering the phones either until I left a negative review stating I would update my review after they returned our phone calls. He had some remarks about my review as well. My husband told me he was pissed about my review & was complaining about it on the phone. Do yourselves a favor. Spend half of the money these guys charge you & just go to Terminix, even they do a better job. UPDATE: I forgot to add this to my update last year but after I left this review the guy called me & threatened to sue me over my review if I did not remove it.

I would like to recognize and express our deepest gratitude for the extraordinary service provided by one of your technicians, Kaz. As clients of Commonwealth exterminators for almost 20 years, we have relied on your team for consistent pest control, but Kaz’s recent actions went far beyond the scope of normal service, potentially saving our home from irreputable damage. During a recent visit to address our water bug problem, she demonstrated remarkable professionalism and a keen awareness that proved invaluable. While she was conducting her thorough inspection, she detected a slight gas fume originating from the furnace in the attic. Kaz immediately recommended investigating this unusual observation while determining the source of the water bug issue, a suggestion that turned out to be critical. Upon further inspection with the gas company and HVAC specialist, they confirmed that our heating and cooling system had a gas leak due to a faulty control valve. Had Kaz simply completed the standard pest control assessment without this level of detail and genuine concern, we would have remained unaware of this dangerous and damaging gas leak. Her conscientiousness prevented what could have been a catastrophic situation and we are incredibly thankful for her alertness and diligence. Beyond this life-saving intervention, Kaz provided the best Pest Control service we have experienced in two decades. She was thorough, taking time to inspect the entire home, including the crawlspace. She proved to be a wealth of knowledge regarding our specific water bug issues and provided several practical recommendations to prevent future problems. Kaz truly has her customers best interest at heart. We strongly urge you to recognize her for this selfless and exceptional display of service.

Provider response

We recently switched to Commonwealth Pest Control from another provider, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience. Their team successfully resolved an issue that our previous provider was unable to handle after several attempts. They took the time to walk us through the process, thoroughly inspected additional areas of our home, and ensured the problem had not spread further. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to customer care have truly impressed us. I highly recommend!

Provider response

Chasity, we appreciate the kind words and so thrilled that we have resolved the pest needs out there. Thank you for being our customer.

I recently used Commonwealth to install a vapor barrier at my mother's home as part of a condition of sale. The technician that did the "installation" did an incomplete job. The day before closing, the buyer's inspector came back to verify all conditions were met, crawled under the house, and took pictures showing the job was not completed. The incomplete performance delayed closing from the planned Thursday until a Monday. The company acknowledged their error and came out the next day and sent a supervisor to correct the work. While their initial service is deserving of the lowest rating, I'm giving a three star given the speed and completeness of their remedy.

I have been a customer of Commonwealth Exterminating for about 5 years now. I have them perform both my yearly termite inspection as well as quarterly pest service. This organization has consistently given great customer service at a fair price. They show up on time and are easy to schedule with every time I call.

Provider response

Ty Travis!! We love being great at what we do but especially for kind customers like you.

Would not recommend. One they pushed back the work to start by a week, then they delayed the closing on my house because instead of just doing the work that was in the contract (which was overpriced), they added that there was a leak and a plumber has to be called. Please don't waste your time.

Provider response

So sorry you experienced this. Please reach out so we sort through some of what was talked about here. I don't recognize your name or these notes so let me try to catch up and figure out a solution. Bugs@commonwealthext.com

I have been with this company for ten years. My service technician, Richard, has been wonderful and always professional. My experience with the front office, however has declined to the point that I have terminated my service with the company. David, the manager??? has an entitled and nasty attitude. Furthermore they will come to your house, do a 10 minute service (by David's own account) and charge you $100 - even when you don't have one scheduled. Scheduling can be a problem if no one calls you back after your tech is a no show either (scheduling error - not the tech.) Until the front office sees new management, avoid this place

Provider response

Hi Annette, Thank you for your feed back! So happy to hear about your experience with Richard! Our management has changed and hoping you would consider coming back to us! We do offer a discounted service program for quarterlies... this means that we service every 3 months and will complete an outside exterior service on the months you haven't invited us inside. Thats the discount and the maintaining of the chemical barrier to keep your home pest free!! Reach out if I can be of service-- bugs@commonwealthext.com

I 've had a twilight zone experience with them and and want to share it with the viewers. I do not use Commonwealth Ext. but I started getting bills and past due notices from them in September. When I confront them, they said that they don't have a signed service contract for the work done on 7/7/16. I asked them how does this happen? I do not use your company. It is like being billed for a car that you did not buy. The lady said that she would fix the problem and call me back. I did not get a call back but I had assumed that the problem would be fixed. In November, I got the same letters again. A bill and a past due notice warning me about none payment and sending me a collection agency. I am really upset now. Since calling them did not fix the situation, my husband and I went to the office . We said that we need to see the manager or the owner. The office manager is Cory Newell. He took us upstairs and begin looking in the computer. I said to him that we got a problem. I don't use Commonwealth Ext Co, but now they are threatening me with collecting agency. He said that he is the one who does this and he has not done so.What in the world? I am even madder now. I kept on telling these people that I don't use their services and they need to stop their harassment! He left us sitting there while he looked for the nonexistent service contract. After 15 minutes, he came back and said "I tell you what I will do for you". What they need to do is to said that they are sorry about what they've put me through and correct the mistake immediately . I told him that they need to stop sending me the foolish letters. He screamed " You cut me off. You did not let me finish talking!" He then threw us out the office. He even went to the front door and hold the door while creaming "leave". I am writing the review to let everyone know about this company. I don't think that the owner and his wife know what is going there. Despite of all that happened. No one said that they are sorry for the mistake and the perpetual harassment. It seems to me that Mr Cory Newell cares more about his feelings than the business that he was paid to run . Maybe when he finds out that I am not a customer of their business, he feels that he can be rude and nasty.

Provider response

Thank you for your feed back. The conversation happened way different than this but your perception is everything. We wish you well with you new company. Apologies were given, contracts shared and explained. Happy Trails!

Update - I'm please to say that the company is now initiating a new policy regarding quotes/paperwork to ensure situations such as these will not occur again in the future. *Penalizes you financially for taking their own advice! In my opinion.* (I edited the review today due a mention of court from commonwealth exterminating's phone message.) This company was hired through a property manager as I am out of the area. They visited my house, sent a quote, I approved certain work, signed for ~$800 of work to be completed, told them to wait until the Spring to reevaluate the situation, specifically in regards to adding a sump pump. Side note: The suggestion to wait was given by their tech after the initial visit and the same tech kind enough to return a phone call. After completion of the work I received the invoice and there was an additional charge of $200. When questioned about the additional $200, their answer was "a trip charge because you did not go along with the estimate of the sump pump recommendation". (Wow! Because I took their advice I said to wait for the work, I get to pay them $200.) Also, on the faxed invoice there was a note that an area was not completed due to water. I’m not able to verify if the work was completed and am not comfortable assuming all is complete. I own this home, am not the residence, and it’s managed through a property management company. Because of this, I feel obligated to pay. If you are a home owner , if you rent properties, my opinion would be to not use this company.

Provider response

Christal- The trip charge was because work could not be completed because of other conditions you were responsible for remedy. The facts you present here are a bit different than what actually happened. We are happy that together we found resolution and remedied towards your satisfaction. Your property is a 2.5 hour round trip area so when the property was non compliant for treatment, a trip charge is incurred. Regarding your opinion about property manager, we are the preferred vendor of almost every major property management company and most of the smaller companies. Your comment isn't the sentiment of those we serve out of 19,000 clients. We wish you the best and pray that you are given the same kindness you have bestowed to this company, ten fold.
