I think as a company, you should probably teach your Employees defensive driving. I am not sure who the NASCAR racer you have driving this truck on 10/27/25 @ 5 pm, the way he is driving is unacceptable. License plate number #KWK8740. Could have cause an accident. I have video as well.

Response from National Exterminating Company Inc

I would certainly like to see that video, it helps me speak to our drivers in a way where the have to take responsibility as the evidence is directly in front of them. Please send to smonds@nationalexterminating.com

I have waited a week with no reply or video as offered. I took it upon myself to review the footage from the time stamp you provided. Our vehicles are equipped with both forward and rear facing cameras that show and record metrics riveling any NASCAR. To be polite, it appears you were the one tailgating and pushing our driver to get out of your way.
While I can not defend every instance of our company's less than professional driving, we are human, I can defend your 1 star review as absolutely incorrect.

*no stars* We never saw any technician but we keep getting bills and water bugs and beetles. Not interested in service from this company. Have requested cancelation.

Response from National Exterminating Company Inc

IF YOU COULD PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION, I COULD LOOK INTO YOUR SERVICES AND DETERMINE WHAT IS GOING ON. IT APPEARS YOU ARE A PROFFESSIONAL REVIEWER AND WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVE OUR WORTH.

Cancel my service - the youngest me gate open and my dog ran away and nearly got into a fight with a pit bull. Do not bill me for this service

Response from National Exterminating Company Inc

I think what you are trying to say is that our technician left your gate open and your dog got out, which is exactly what happened. National is very sorry for this mistake, and we refunded your money for the service on 10-1-2025.

National canceled my termite bond after 21 years. I had my crawl space encapsulate 4 years ago and my technician said my company had dine a wonderful job. Everything was to industry standards. Now all of a sudden after my yearly inspection, National can no longer insure my home. Customers beware!!!!!!!

Response from National Exterminating Company Inc

Canceling a 21 year customer is a very hard decision. Fifty percent of marriages probably don't last that long. Encapsulating your crawlspace for moisture control by attaching foam board or spray foam to the interior of your foundation walls will certainly work, but has unintended consequences. While the building codes allow for this, this is NOT code for termite warranty providers. Allowing a 2-4" "TERMITE INSPECTION STRIP" at the top of your foundation wall does very little for the identification of active termites sooner than later. The inspection strip should be at the bottom of the foundation wall for early detection and treatment of termites. The moisture trapped between the foam and the foundation wall creates a perfect environment for termites to thrive, we know because we've removed more $20,000 and $30,000 encapsulations than we would like to. These encapsulations have to be removed before treatment can be rendered, someone has to pay for that removal/replacement. National Exterminating suggests moisture control of crawlspaces that is INSPECTABLE, TREATABLE, AND WARRANTABLE.
FOAM ON FOUNDATION WALLS IS EXTREMELY PROBLAMATIC IN AREAS SUCH AS OURS, HIGH WATER TABLES, LOAMY SOIL, MODERATE TEMPERATIRES, AND HEAVY TERMITE ACTIVITY 12 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR.
You would have thought codes and compliance would have learned their lessons from EIFS and Dryvit sytems causing sick building syndrome
via moisture, mold, and wood destroying insect intrusion. They have modified the codes for the use of foam on the exterior of buildings, but not in our crawlspaces.
Other industries are paying attention to these hazards, like homeowner's insurance, pest control general liability insurances, and the fact that foam insulation in the crawlspace has now been added to the Termite and Moisture letter(form NPMA 33 ) as an "inaccessible area". This form is needed to sell your home. Buyers beware, do not get an EUI, Encapsulating Under the Influence.
Additionally, the termiticide manufacturer's suggest termite retreatments every 8- 10 years for best protection around your home, these encapsulations negate the ability to do so.
If the termite industry thought this was a good idea, we would be offering this $30,000 option to control moisture.
We are glad to have a real conversation about the pitfalls of foam encapsulations and other systems that are INSPECTABLE , TREATABLE, AND WARRANTABLE.

I was misled by National Exterminating! I recently canceled services after being a customer for over 5 years because I didn't feel confident their technicians were spraying and inspecting my property. I immediately hired a new company and was notified termites were present. National claims if termites are discovered they will treat your property this is not true! As a Disabled Veteran I feel this company has taken my money and not performed the services I paid for.

I was referred to National by my neighbor. I had them out this past Fall and they did a good job, but I will never use them again. I made an appointment directly with the technician through text for 5/17 and he never showed up and never called to let me know he wasn’t coming. I waited over an hour and even texted the tech to see if he was just running behind. There was no response back. I finally heard back on Monday (5/19) and was told they were sick on Friday. I understand we all get sick, but where is the communication with their clients. A supervisor could have called me and let me know the tech wouldn’t be making it out. When I called on Tuesday Laura told me it was the tech’s responsibility to notify the clients if they couldn’t make the appointment. She also said they would talk with that tech about the situation. Laura made a new appointment for 11am two weeks later (5/31). The day of the appointment I prepared my home inside and out to do a thorough treatment since I was already 1-2 months behind on service. Well, 11am came and went with no one showing up again and no call. I unfortunately called Monday after hours and just left a voicemail to have someone call me back. Tuesday at about 10:30am I decided to call them again to speak with a manager. The front desk told me Laura was busy and would call be back soon. I received Laura’s call at 3:15pm. I asked her why no one showed up again for my appointment that weekend and she proceeded to tell me my appointment was canceled on 5/27. She proceeded to check the system to find out that the office manager was doing something on my account that day and my appointment was canceled. Obviously frustrated that this has happened and is now the second time they haven’t showed up I asked her how this happened and she responded saying it was an accident. She then proceeds to tell me that we should just not set up any future appointments since they couldn’t “make me happy” and the next earliest appointment was over a week away. Even though they were the ones that screwed up twice now. I advised Laura “how hard is it to please a pest control client; you make an appointment and you show up. Obviously that seems hard for your company to do. And it really shows customers what kind of company you are for just giving up and losing them as a customer instead of trying to make things right and rectify the problem.” I never once raised my voice or was unprofessional in any of my phone conversations with anyone at National. They need training on professionalism. What kind of company makes you feel like you did something wrong when it was their incompetence and lack of communication?!?!?! I will never recommend National to anyone I know. If I could give zero stars I would.

Technician showed up for service, but we were never notified of the appointment. Tech didn’t even bother knocking or ringing the doorbell. I only realized she was there due to the sound of a web brush against my window at 830am. I then noticed that she was driving a sedan instead of the typical truck with proper equipment, and asked what she was going to spray with. She informed me that she was planning to use a gallon sprayer for the exterior treatment on our house. Very unprofessional, unprepared, not properly equipped to do the job, and discourteous to us by showing up unannounced and going ahead doing a halfway job without telling us she was even there.

Response from National Exterminating Company Inc

We sincerely apologize for the poor experience you had with our service. It is unacceptable that our technician did not communicate with you prior to the appointment or arrive with the appropriate equipment. Your feedback regarding the lack of professionalism and courtesy will be addressed with our team to ensure this does not happen again. We take your concerns seriously and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we hope to make it right in the future.

Jason has been our technician for many years since being with National Exterminating and have been satisfied with his service until today. He was about to finish up treating the countertops and cabinets in the kitchen when I asked him if he had sprayed outside across the deck where it meets the house. He said he did but I said I didnt see him out there or any wet spots to which he abruptly replied "I can promise you I did!" then said "I'm done here!" and was on his way out without finishing the job in the kitchen. I asked him to finish up and again he rudely said "I'm done here!" and stormed out taking the bait stations and traps with him which he was supposed to leave when finished and sarcastically said "Have a nice day!". I was stunned at his reaction, I don't know why he got so angry. I wasn't accusing him of lying, just asking if he had done it but I guess he took it that way. I would've taken his word that he did but instead he suddenly reacted in a totally unprofessional way and left. I don't know if he was having a bad day but his attitude and reaction was totally uncalled for. I have already contacted National to report the incident and was told someone else will come back Tuesday afternoon to finish what Jason didn't. This was very unfortunate, I'll see how it works out but we may be looking elsewhere for service.

Response from National Exterminating Company Inc

We sincerely apologize for the unprofessional experience you had with Jason, W G. Your feedback is important to us, and we take it seriously. We will address this issue internally to ensure it does not happen again. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to rectify the situation.

This company scammed me and my husband Pedro Leon out of $12k+. They initially did termite treatment and crawlspace fungus treatment. 1 year later, they say that the crawlspace needs to be partially encapsulated and a $6k dehumidifier needs installed. They said that partial encapsulation would not void out termite warranty. So I paid them to do this. I had contacted them numerous times in the past stating that the dehumidifier appears to not be working properly and every time they came out they stated that there was nothing wrong due to normal moisture levels found in wood. 2 years later, they now want to come back out to do fungus and termite treatment again stating they they found fungus and significant moisture in wood. They want to give me a new quote. How can this be when I have paid these people $12k plus yearly warranty and maintenance? I also have been telling them that the dehumidifier was not working properly. Don't be fooled by these people. They have a scam going on.

Response from National Exterminating Company Inc

It can be really difficult to respond to 1-Star reviews that are filled with non-truths. Some customers just enjoy doing battle, no matter what has been said and done in good faith.

The previous homeowner called National Exterminating to do a PRESALE INSPECTION for the sale of this home. The inspection noted the need for termite treatment, fungus treatment, moisture barrier, and the repair of a floor joist. Approximately $1529 in work to get the home ready for sale. The NPMA – 33 document required for the sale of the home IN 2021, IT STATES:
Moisture inspection per Rein contract only. Moisture damage to 1 floor joist in crawl. To be repaired by National. See attachment. Previous repairs in crawl and crawl may need future ventilation. National not responsible.**REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND HAVE NOT ADVERSELY AFFECTED THE STRUCTURE OF THE HOME.**
The new homeowner (the reviewer) elected to pick up a Termite Warranty from National Exterminating. This includes an annual inspection of the home and crawl space to make sure that there are no termites and/or conditions conducive to termites. This helps to make homeowners PROACTIVE and not just reactive in protecting their home.
In June of 2022 during inspection, it was noted that indeed the moisture in the crawl had increased to a point that needed remediation, the customer accepted a proposal to dehumidify the crawl space and do some subfloor repair for a total of $5,400. The work was completed in July.

The findings of the 2024 inspection were: fungus, downed insulation, and a recommendation for a termite booster treatment. The homeowner was sent a follow-up letter to relay these concerns and an offer to send a Senior Inspector to investigate, at no charge, to make sure everything was as it should be and identify any issues early.
The technician that recommended further inspection was doing his due diligence and had only the health of your crawlspace in mind. did not realize the home had been treated by the previous owner prior to the sale. The technicians do not have access to information as readily in the field. A simple phone call to the office and we would have been able to see the complete history of this address, understand that it was just treated in 2021, and certainly would not have recommended any treatment. The Senior Inspector would have also been able to identify if there was an actual fungus problem versus old staining from a fungal problem already treated. There was no attempt to scam the homeowner out of $12,000.

I spoke with the homeowner and explained this and conveyed that a 1-star review to include negative comments like National Exterminating tries to “scam” people and “not to be fooled” was unkind and undeserved. The homeowner says that was his opinion and he had the right to do so, he is correct. We wish him nothing but the pest with his next exterminating company.
Scott Monds,
General Manager

I just purchased a home in Newport News and the seller previously used this company. I thought I would have a positive experience. However, the technician came to my house unannounced (no one told me the inspection was scheduled for that specific day) and after he “so called” conducted the inspection, he left. I’m really not sure how he performed an inspection when the gate to my backyard where crawl space access is located was locked. He mentioned it was unlocked but I locked my gate two days prior to him showing up (after the landscaper finished my yard). Then hours later I am emailed a report with “not at home” written in the customer signature field. When I called the company complaining, I was told to speak to the technician. The technician ended up calling me back and after I questioned how could he conduct an inspection when my gate was locked and asking why he listed I wasn’t at home on the report when I clearly was (I answered the door when he rung my doorbell) he replied he did the inspection and he was sorry for lying on my report. First and foremost, you showed up unannounced. Then you stated you had access to my crawl space when you didn’t. And lastly, you purposely lied on on a report listing I wasn’t home when I was and didn’t even bother to go over the report with me. Please help me understand why you would do any of this? This is a huge red flag for me and I cannot do business with a company I cannot trust. I will go elsewhere for my termite & crawl space inspections.
