Mosquito Joe of the Bluegrass (Lexington)

I can not say enough about the employees of his company. RJ and Page have the utmost patience. If u know me u know I am crazy about the safety of pesticides when it comes to my animals and my grand babies. I first spoke with RJ and went through what probably felt like a million questions and the whole time he was just explaining with every question no attitude just patience. And kept saying I’m sorry and he says don’t be sorry this is what we are here for to make u feel comfortable and confident in ur decision. Well I told him I would think about it. The next day I ended up talking to page and the same million questions and again so patient. I can not say enough but what I can say is go with the Joe for all those skeeter problems or any other out door needs! Thank u RJ and Page yall are awesome!!

Dylan and Hunter came out to spray my yard for mosquitoes and did an excellent job. They were both very friendly, professional, and easy to talk to. They worked quickly and efficiently while still making sure everything was properly covered. The whole process was so smooth and hassle-free. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone needing mosquito treatment!

I have known Travis for sometime now and have always found him to be very hard-working and to have integrity. I have found his pricing for services to be extremely reasonable and the quality of work to be excellent! Would highly recommend him and his team for mosquito treatment here in Lexington.

Chris was my regular from Mosquito Joe. Every application he was prompt and always called before arrival . I only had to call one time for a second application. Harry is the best technician! He always does such a great job on our yard and really pays attention to detail. He is also very friendly and professional.

Efficient. Thrilled with the service. We have never used a professional service before but since there have been almost no bites and the one time we saw a mosquito they came out immediately and the next week. Had harry this week and they were great.

Harry communicated promptly with every detail of when he would arrive and did a complete and thorough application of our entire yard. In the past we have had to ask the technician to complete our entire yard.

Mosquitoes were bad in my yard. I couldn’t even walk out my back porch without having them swarming me. Since Mosquitoes Joe came and now I able to enjoy my backyard with dogs. Thanks MJ!

Update #3: I was pleasantly surprised today to hear back from Mosquito Joe and have them make this situation right by offering a respray and an actual refund. Shoutout to Paige (sp?) who was kind enough to hear me out today. Update #2: All in all, buyer beware: if you're not one of their "thousands of satisfied customers," what you can expect is poor customer service with no real way of addressing it and outright lies when you try to make your complaint public. The reply posted below contains nothing but outright lies, which is a bit astonishing to be honest. People can believe whomever they choose. If you read other 1 star reviews, you will see that multiple people have been hung up on. We can't all be making it up... I will continue to try to get the refund that was never provided, bc I highly doubt "a check has been mailed promptly". The part about me asking for all communication to cease is particularly rich, seeing as I've been trying to call any and all Mosquito Joe numbers I've been able to find. I really really wish there was a way to release my "recorded phone call." Update: I tried calling the "company" to try addressing the issue, but the manager refused to speak to me. I am very intentional on keeping all conversations civil, b/c there's just no need for rudeness. However, I was HUNG UP ON. My first attempt at finding a corporate number to get a refund, I was given a bogus number to another local office in another state. The whole feel of my phone interactions with this "company" was very suspicious and unprofessional. I do believe this is a SCAM. I'd recommend staying away. Initial Review: Our spray was done during a week of heavy rains followed by extreme heat, which meant a week later mosquitos are swarming us. However, even though the person who first answered my phone call said she could see why didn't work, we would not be able to get a free respray because we're not paying the level of membership for free resprays ($77ish/month isn't enough apparently to qualify you for a respray if yours was completely worthless bc of when they sprayed - which as a customer you have no control over).

We have used Mosquito Joe for many years now (natural barrier treatment). It works very well and our technician Chris is outstanding-diligent, professional and great communication. Thanks!

They have amazing customer service and kept the mosquitos at bay this summer. This was my first time using them and they came out on a regular basis, did what they needed to do, I could contact them if I needed additional sprays between times - Easy to work with and I would recommend their service!

They do a pretty good job but note that signing up for the service means they place advertisement signs in your yard. This seems to be negotiable unfortunately

Byron just finished treating my yard. He did a very thorough job. He was extremely polite and pleasant. We have always been happy with our treatments over the last year. It is nice to be able to enjoy our outside spaces without the worry of mosquitoes.

I would never recommend Mosquito Joe to anyone. I signed up for a 3 week advance spray and they never even finished the job. I called scheduled the first one and they charged me more than what I was quoted. Then the next time they came, they gave me a discounted price but sprayed only 10% of my lawn! I have them on camera spraying the perimeter for 2 MINUTES when it’s a full yard spray. He arrived at 3:55pm and was back in his car at 3:57pm. I don’t care about a refund or a redo, I will never be back and warn everyone to STAY AWAY. Go with someone else. Additionally, the same day they sprayed my dog starting vomiting all day long after being outside. This is NOT animal safe. They rip you off and don’t even do the job you payed for. And THE MOSQUITO ARE BACK AFTER A FEW DAYS.

I’m 50/50 on these treatment companies. Having owned a lawn care business for 5 years, I know enough about the various products to know that, in general, they work. But conditions do have to be pretty perfect to see positive results. This company seems to be laying down the right stuff. At this moment, that might be the only positive. 😂 1. Getting service started was an antiquated process (had to call to give a credit card over the phone) and I talked to maybe three different people all at the same time via text, phone, and email. Messages were delayed and slow. Took a bit to get service started. 2. Two out of the three reps told me (I have proof in text, but this was confirmed via phone too) that they would first (keyword), create a barrier with three consecutive treatments, for a discounted price. This could be interpreted two ways, either all the first three treatments are discounted, or the first three treatments are really just considered ‘the first’ treatment. Neither are true. After today’s ambiguity on text - I have a hunch they bank on ambiguity. Fair warning: You’ll spend over $200 in the first few weeks, then $77 every 21 days after that. You can go buy a Stihl Mister and all the pro chemicals they use and DIY, for way less money. Saving this treatment plan can pay for all that for a year (then you have the mister, and every consecutive year, just buy chemicals or something natural). 3. When I questioned the pricing model and discrepancy (after getting charged more than what I was told), they offered a booster “for free” - then I revealed I’d probably cancel and suddenly “boosters can’t be scheduled for cancelled accounts” 😂 … what a joke! What “service!” 4. We maybe noticed a decline in mosquito population 🤷‍♂️ but still got bites. We did have a lot of dead bees (babies too) we found around our property - enough to fill the bottom of a jar… so they are definitely NOT “pollinator friendly” like they say. Just learn how to DIY. That’s my advice. Skip these kinds of companies. They’re overpriced and most of them (in fairness, unsure about Joe) are predatory scams.

Mosquito Joe was a great investment for enjoying the summer. I was concerned about spraying because most chemicals harm the pollinators but not with mosquito joe. I don't have to worry about my kids and pets with the spray they use and it won't harm the pollinators! We actually enjoy our yard now. Thanks mosquito Joe!

If you read all the one star reviews you will read everything that I have to say about this company. I just called to cancel my service for at least the third time (after receiving an email saying they were coming to treat my property). I again spoke to the most rude employee. I told her if my yard gets treated they will not get paid. She said the same thing as always…have a nice day. Then “click” hangs up on me. I’ve not been able to get a confirmation email that service is cancelled. In addition, the reason I cancelled them is because the tech spent about 3 minutes max and only sprayed the grass in my large tree covered back yard. When I made a complaint with the office I was told their trucks are equipped with cameras and it shows George sprayed the trees. It’s impossible to see into my backyard from the front. I asked to be retreated or a refund and was denied. The lack of concern for quality service and the unbelievable rudeness of the frontline office staff is the worst I’ve experienced.

They have a policy to retreat your yard if you find that mosquitos are coming back sooner than your next treatment. I called to have this done and the person I spoke to was extremely rude to me and I ended up canceling my account. I later sent an email saying that I didn’t think that was a fair way to do business. They responded back by saying sorry you feel that way. I called back and spoke to a manager who did apologize. She said she would send someone out to fix it and set my account back up. Someone came the next day, but never showed up according to schedule again. Randomly months later I got an email saying someone would be coming. I called and canceled due to not wanting to deal with the company that didn’t seem to have it together. Months passed again with nothing, then an email that someone would come for service. Called again and once again spoke to a rude customer service representative. Hopefully they can actually get it cancelled. Overall the rude staff and lack of organization is what made me really unhappy with this company.

Their service started out okay where they would take their time in spraying but after several months they would show up to only be on our property for less than 3 minutes. We finally canceled with them when they charged us for a treatment in November that never happened. When we called to have the charge removed they refused and just hung up on us. If you use them watch out for chargers for services never occuring.

I switched from Mosquito Authority to Mosquito Joe this year, solely because it was a bit cheaper, and I absolutely regret it! I also made the mistake of paying for the year upfront. Every single service (I am not exaggerating, this includes my service that was scheduled for today lol) was either delayed or the worker did not show up. One of the staff, "George", would literally run through my backyard while spraying, barely covering my property and the mosquitos were never well-controlled this year as they had been in the past when I used Mosquito Authority. I spoke with the company multiple times about missed and inadequate services and always got an excuse: a truck was in an accident, George got fired, they were overbooked, they did not have a truck to come to Lexington that day, etc. It is almost comical at this point. I will say though, one of the staff, "JW" did a great job and was always very polite. This is their one saving grace.
