Signed up with Spring Green earlier this year. Followed everything they told me to do, and the lawn is looking better than it did. I think I was expecting that they would be better at communicating- for example they identified items to help the front yard but then they never followed through on a quote after I requested one. It seems like they have too many clients and not enough team members to give an A+ experience.
Provider response

It’s important to us that no one ever feels overlooked.

We appreciate your patience and honesty, it helps us grow and get better. If there’s anything still outstanding with your service or quote, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I've also sent you a text. We’d love the opportunity to make it right and show you the five-star experience we stand behind.

I am now 1 year into my service with Spring Green and my lawn looks worse than when I moved into my house and immediately hired them. Communication with the staff and owner/Manager Ben, has been absolutely terrible. I have complained about the poor communication multiple times. Even directly to the Owner and nothing has changed. My services have not been on a consistent schedule. iVery early on, I was advised to get a soild test. I said sure lets do it. It took over 6 months and multiple reminders/follow-ups from me for them to complete it. After 1yr, Neither the pre-emergents nor the post-emergents they are using are killing the weeds. I legitimately have more weeds now than when I started the service. In addition to some spots of dallis grass, crabgrass, and nutsedge, I have at least 5 other types of invasive weeds/grass throughout my small lawn. I also have several large (3'-6') bare spots that are not due to excessive shade or lack of water. I have also had worm/grub treatments so that should not be the cause either. These spots had nice Bermuda there last year. Back in the middle of April, I asked for 2 tons of top dressing along with core aeration. They told me if would be completed in 2 to 3 weeks. They wanted my lawn fully out of dormancy. My lawn was 99.999% out of dormancy. Just like every other bermuda lawn in my neighborhood. Mine just has actual dead patches. 1.5 months later, my lawn is "completely out of dormancy" and still looks horrible. And yet there has been no mention or scheduling of the top dressing/aeration service yet. To say I'm unhappy with my services and experience is an understatement. If there is a problem in my lawn, and you are able to diagnose it, and I say "OK fix it", why cant that be done?
Provider response
Josh, thank you for your feedback. We understand that many of your concerns have already been discussed through email, including the details around how pre-emergent works and why certain weeds, like dallisgrass, may require additional applications. What we do want to address is the communication issue. Providing clear and timely updates is something we’re known for, and we take a lot of pride in that. It’s rare for a follow-up to be missed—especially more than once—and we truly apologize that it happened in your experience. While no team is perfect, we take these situations seriously and always work to make things right when we fall short. We appreciate you bringing it to our attention and giving us the opportunity to address it. We’re committed to getting your lawn on track and showing you the quality of service that so many of our long-time customers rely on.

Initially it took 2-3 days for my phone call for a quote to be returned. I missed the call, a voicemail was left, however no information was provided in the message so I had to call back again and leave another message. I called early in the day and explained that I was ok with a voicemail or email with the information. I received an email a day or two later, along with a phone call alerting me to the email, but they were finishing up for the day so there was no time for me to review the quote and ask any questions if needed. I reviewed the quote and called back early the next day to get prices for the extras I needed (no prices were listed in the quote). Again I had to leave a message and I also sent a text later in the day. I waited a couple of days. No returned call or text...Until I left a negative review. Then I got a call and a text with the prices but was only given the options to set up the service- call back or use a link. I responded with a request for the link so I could get service set up right away. No response. I waited and called again, and texted again...no response. I think the only reason they responded before was to get me to take the review down, which I did, but shouldn't have. I see that they responded to a positive review 40 minutes ago which is about the time I left my most recent voicemail to set up service, but I couldn't get a response? At this point, it seems they either don't want new business or I don't fit their customer profile. I'm fine with either, but the least they could do is let me know so I could have moved on to another company, which I will have to do since this has been an almost two week process and I'm no further than the initial call. I can only imagine what would happen if I became a customer and had an issue.
Provider response
Hello Tracy, we’re very sorry for the delay in our response and your experience with the lack of communication back in June. It can be frustrating when calls are missed and not returned right away. We pride ourselves on our ability to connect with our customers via voice, text or email very easily and we normally receive positive feedback regarding our communication skills. However, we do occasionally make mistakes, or other circumstances get in the way and delays happen. This is a great opportunity to set some new standards and improve so we can avoid this in the future as much as possible. We would like to acknowledge the text conversation we had, the log of the returned calls, and the email with a link to set up services that was sent to you. We would love to prove to you that we are a great company to partner with to address all your lawn care needs. If you’re still in need of a provider, our owner Ben will reach out to you personally.

My credit card information was compromised, and I was erroneously billed twice the amount for an entire year. Despite cancelling the service, charges continued to be applied to my account without my consent or the provision of any services. Attempts to resolve the issue were met with refusal to disclose necessary information, essentially resulting in unauthorized withdrawals from my account. I strongly advise against using this company due to their unethical practices.
Provider response
We’re sorry to hear about a negative experience with us. We could not identify an account that matches your name or details provided, but we always like the chance to make things right. If you wish to discuss this further, please contact us at (704) 635-8230.

After two years of service, I have more clover than ever. When I bring it to their attention I get excuses instead of solutions. Time to move on.
Provider response
Hi Will, we appreciate the feedback and know we've communicated about this personally as well. We apologize again for not meeting your expectations for your lawn. Every lawn and customer is different. Some lawns take longer than others to get great results, which can be frustrating. There are other factors at play on top of our regular treatments that affect the outcome. There are site and soil conditions to overcome and with the fall seeding window, we don't want to do anything to hurt new grass. If you ever want to reconsider, we would be glad to come by and do a complimentary weed spray and go over your lawn situation in more detail. We have many long-time customers with the best lawns in their neighborhood and would love for you to experience that as well. Thank you and have a great day!

They aerated part of my backyard. They weren't even here for 30 minutes if that? And charged me $119.00. Expensive and didn't even have the audacity to go over the small area twice. They are expensive and will charge you an arm and leg.
Provider response
Sorry to hear you weren’t satisfied with that service, Drew. Core aeration can be subjective as far as how much is needed to get the result. I’m always available for a phone call or text and happy to redo any areas that need it. As far as price goes, I get feedback that we’re very competitive with the other professional lawn care companies. We also offer discounts on additional services to our regular customers that get our annual lawn care program, and overall it’s an excellent value. Please reach out to me directly to follow up on your core aeration or provide any other services for you. Thanks!

Well I spoke with and decided to initiate service with Ben Whitehouse. I discussed my having laid fescue sod in March of this year and the problem I was having with dollar patch and brown spot. This stuff can spread fast? I received a confirmation email on May 19th, 2018 thanking me for signing up for service. It's now June 15th still nobody has ever shown up for the first treatment? Actually got notice that they were going to treat one day and it was during the period of daily rain we had for about two weeks and service never happened which is understandable. Would have been nice to receive some followup however as weather has been fine lately???? If this is how a potential new customer is treated I would hate to see the treatment a customer you have had for a while receives? Poor, poor, poor customer service what a shame. UPDATE: Well the owner contacted me and he was honestly concerned that he had let a potential customer down. He is now working to make the situation right so I am upgrading my review to neutral and will adjust accordingly over the next few months as I get a better feel for the service.
Provider response
Jeffrey, we apologize you had this experience with Spring-Green as it does not represent our character. Please email us your full service address to support@spring-green.com and we will reach out to your local Spring-Green for resolution.

I recommend you think twice before hiring this company. We paid in full in August ($89) for services and were told that our yard would be serviced the following week after payment was made. Two weeks passed and our yard was still NOT serviced and 3 phone messages had not been returned. The owner of the company finally made contact on September 12th. A full refund was requested and as of today (9/20/2017) refund has NOT been received.
Provider response
We apologize you had this experience. We will contact your local Spring-Green provider and have them contact you in efforts to resolve the issue.

Here is the response from your local Spring-Green provider:
I’m really sorry about the misunderstanding with you regarding the start of your service. You did sign up as a customer and when setting up your account I mistakenly started your service with the upcoming round of treatments for Bermuda grass that we had not started yet. When it was brought to my attention on 9/11 that you were still waiting we were getting rain from the hurricane and I explained that it was my mistake, apologized and offered to come out within a week when I knew we could be there. When you replied back and elected to get a refund, I called you on Saturday to get your credit card information in order to process the refund, which I did immediately. Unfortunately we do have to let the credit card refund process happen over the next couple of business days. I take full responsibility for the scheduling error with you when I set up your account, its definitely not the norm but unfortunately it did happen in your case. I’m very sorry I wasn’t able to take care of it promptly enough for you. I really appreciate you speaking out on this in a public forum as it provides a good learning opportunity for me so I won’t make this mistake again with scheduling a new customer.
Ben Whitehouse, Owner Spring Green Pineville
