Red Shovel Landscape

Third year in a row we’ve had Red Shovel come to our home to do a Spring Clean haul to the front and backyard. Every.Single. Time. Truly an outstanding job! Couldn’t be happier. I would like to start by saying that my yard was a complete nightmare. Very overgrown and neglected as I purchased the home recently. I must say that David M, Leo, and Hunter did an exceptional job turning my yard from a jungle into a beautifully cleaned up space that I can finally be proud of. The doggy run is so clean now, I’ll have no problem putting my dogs back there and not worrying about them ingesting weeds because there are none! They took out a dead, overgrown bush in the corner of my yard that was previously an eye sore and a useless elm tree that was just in the way. I can’t stop looking at my yard. Thanks again guys! I’ve already recommended you to my family and a friend. I’ll come back and upload before and after photos when I get a chance.

Less then 1 star . Never sent the quote I asked for and wanted a debit card just to make a quote. Don’t waste your time calling these guys. They have no integrity.

Daniel and Orduno were very personable and knowledgeable technicians. I was impressed by their attentiveness to our concerns with the herbicide application to our property. This is the first time we have used Red Shovel for weed control. If the herbicide works as well as the two techs that came out, we will be using Red Shovel again. And if there happens to be a reoccurring problem with the weeds, Red Shovel will come back to re-treat the problem area. Great job !

They did not do my yard my nextdoor neighbor was using them and they blew all the sand leave and trash into our yard . My car was covered with sand. They did a great job on their yard but next time do better. Was going to use them but not now. Thank you for having your employees come over and reach out to us. Don't waste your money on this service - just buy a blower and do it yourself - since they will send an unskilled person to blow your yard and leave a mess.

Requires a $500 fee to receive a quote that takes two weeks to create on a sizable project that could have been extremely lucrative for them. The landscape is too competitive for this kind of policy and it’s not industry standard. Highly recommend seeking other options.

I didn’t even hire this company, but was immediately turned off. I am completing my own landscape design and installation with the exception of a 115 sq foot area that I need professional installation of either artificial turf, paver, or concrete. The area in question has been marked off, and the ground is prepared. There is nothing that needs to be removed. The grading is set. I called Red Shovel for an estimate for this area. They want to charge me $500 for a professional design, multiple walk throughs, measurements…etc. I don’t need design. Just quote me for the materials and labor for the area I want. Apparently this is how the company guarantees they get the bid. The $500 estimate fee does not go toward the cost of the project and is non-refundable if you decide not to use the company. They are crooks! It’s too bad, because I’ve heard really good things about things in the past.

I scheduled an appointment and was told, for a tech to come out, I would be charged a diagnostic fee of $150. I explained they had been here twice before and had already had the system diagnosed. The response was “we always charge that”. I reluctantly agreed, thinking they would actually thoroughly diagnose the problem with our sprinklers. I was given an arrival window on June 4th, between noon and 2 pm. After waiting 2 hours I was told the tech was running late and it would be another 30 minutes. Upon arrival I turned on the sprinklers for the tech. He walked around them for 2 minutes and said all 12 should be replaced. After receiving a quote for an additional $500 I told him that was too much and he left. I was looking for an actual diagnosis and detailed recommendations for what should be done. Spending 2 minutes and declaring they should all be replaced is not a thorough diagnosis. I have since learned that replacing all 12 sprinklers is not necessary and an easy adjustment. My credit card was charged $150.66 for 2 minutes of “diagnosis”. We called to complain and requested a refund which was denied. Interesting how only positive reviews are shown on their website. Calling Red Shovel was a mistake!

After 1.5 years my yard is full of weeds. When I complained (via email that time since their voice mail was full) the PM told me the weeds were not treated because they were existent when service was started. ☹️👎😡I found myself saying “Crab grass is not grass!” 👎 when I said I wanted the weeds treated or I refund the monthly cost - I was told there was not time to weed at the property. So I told Red Shovel not to come by anymore since they don’t have time. PM seemed relieved to hear that! 👎 I’ve lost thousands ($540 a month!) on this service. Now I will have to spend thousands on the yard to recover. Photos are from a day after service.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY AND ENERGY Overpriced, accusatory, non-communicative, evasive, incompetent and unprofessional are just a few of the adjectives you can use to describe this horrible company. They have admitted that the deterioration of my grass is due to their poor and faulty design but refuse to do anything to remedy the situation. Steer clear of these charlatans at all costs.

I was quoted 400-800 dollar's to remove a cactus. After also getting with another landscaping company who gave me a similar quote I did this on my own in less then 20min. Prices are outrageous

My husband and I paid $495.00 for a full season weed package in the spring, when we didn't have any weeds. Red Shovel came out and sprayed once, which didn't last long, and then completely ghosted us. We had asked about a landscaping maintenance addition to the package, and never responded to that, either. Radio silence. The weeds have been out of control for months, with Red Shovel doing nothing whatsoever about it. I paid this company because I have very bad pollen/weed/grass allergies, and I've had to do damage control on my own, which has triggered respiratory issues. Our yard is trashed, and I'm so furious that we paid this much money for nothing.

Poor job and bad customer service, stay away! They put on a good show, and claim to be one of the best landscape companies in Albuquerque, but I had quite a different experience. They were the highest priced of all 6 quotes I got to level an area and put pea gravel in, but I figured they had the experience and would stand behind their work so I went with them. Had numerous disagreements with them about removing material or not, sq. Footage, cleaning up, what 'finished' and 'general workmanship' mean, etc. After they came back a 2nd time a week later to finish the job by edging the area, they still didn't finish the area shown in the picture and left dirt from the leveling on top of rocks with no edging for the pea gravel. I emailed and asked them to come finish it, but have gotten no response, even though they already invoiced me before their 2nd visit. Save your money and stress and go with someone else who takes pride in how the job looks and not just takes your money.
