Horrible people. Bigoted women in the office who are entitled Karens. I believe they are mother/daughter. Poor customer service, and they made it perfectly clear that I was an inconvenient disruption to their life. Almost like how dare I address an issue that their company caused. Lost a customer, and no way on this green earth would I reccomend this half baked company to even my worst enemy.

Terrible company owned by terrible people. With the amount of illegal things they do, it amazes me that they're allowed to be in business.

2 years ago, our yard was full of creeping Charlie's and dandelions. Fast forward now, we have a great looking yard. Neighbors have complemented how the yard looks and they use tru green but I remind them every day tru green are Democrats! American is the way to go!!

Incompetent customer service!

They were okay but didn't like having to come back out if there was a problem. Their expert was very good and knowledgeable but they sent out a young kid who sprayed are potatoes tomatoes and other garden items. The young kid forgot to do a whole area on two sides of the garage which made them have to come back out and around the handicap ramp. I wish we could have kept them but that's life. Not sure how safe the chemicals are around pets.

Larry “The Legend” has been running Des Moines since the ‘70’s. Great to hear honest small biz has a place in all markets. Watch out for that pink ‘70 charger coming down you resi street.... that is Larry just checking in on his lawns! Much love from MN

Also may want to check BBB score. “we do physical measurements not google or assessors page those are 10 out of 10 overpriced & there is no way to see weeds, grass & other items in the lawn but we could be like the rest & do one. The only way we add customers to the snow roster is if someone else sells or passes away & a spot opens up which rarely happens. we also have a waiting list.”

I have used this lawn service for a number of years and have always been satisfied. I have never been treated rudely by anyone in this company. Larry has helped me a lot with my lawn concerns. Of course I get an occasional weed in my yard. If the yards around you aren't perfectly weed free, then that's always going to happen. The wind also carries weed seeds. You need to have realistic expectations!

Awesome care and pet friendly!

I've used American Lawn Care since 2011. I have referred them to my neighbors, friends and family ever since. I am reading a lot of negative comments on them and this is due to customers having an unrealistic expectation. It took 2 years for my lawn to look the way it does. A few treatmeants will help, however, you still need to mow at the correct (3.5 - 4.5") height and mow frequently. Basically, you cannot mistreat your lawn and expect the lawn treatments to do all the work for you. Larry and Mindy Ginger do amazing work, they have been in business forever and I will always choose to support local business above anything else. Keep up the good work folks!

Asked lawn workers if they could do a better job weed eating and the workers gave an excuse and were very rude. I called Mindy the manager and she proceeded to be a smart ass sarcastic witch to her client so I asked for a refund of the 160.00 credit that is on my account and they are refusing to refund it. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT A GOOD JOB DONE ON WEED EATING. UPDATE: They charge 90 dollars for one hour and 30 dollars to haul away the material and ended up shoving the branches under our house. The bushes they trimmed were knee high. Not worth it

So happy with the work and the owner, Larry''s knowledge of horticulture, however the customer service skills in his office is very unprofessional! Very rude over phone (Nicole [?] and another woman possibly the co-owner)! They act like you are inconveniencing them and there is no thought for customer retention! Went in face to face to pay a $.72 bill and they were a little nicer but I could tell how outdated everything was.

BUYER BEWARE!!! D- rating on Better Business Bureau for a reason. Shame on me for not being a more diligent buyer. This company has outdated customer service practices. I called in the first of the summer to see if I could get someone out to meet me and discuss my lawn issues. After they started treating the lawn this year. Even though I prepaid and it said unlimited services calls no one every called me back or came out to meet with me to discuss. Maybe if they would of taken the time to do so I would not be writing this review today. I sent and email in on Monday 8/22/2016 to express my concerns. 24 hours later no phone call. I did receive an email full of excuses. Blaming me for their poor business practices. She blamed me for not doing an early spring when I called them to tell me what I need to do to get my lawn better. I do believe its their job to tell me what needs done with my lawn not me they are the supposed experts. Trust me stay away you will thank me later The email that was sent to me: FYI I was sick yesterday & I am the only one whom does the emails, I am in the process of responding to my emails from yesterday & today right now. I have your pictures & clearly after 2 apps only (Late Spring & Summer no Early Spring) it seems like you expect it to look weed free, totally filled in & thick, that is not the case no matter whom you have do the lawn, it took your lawn quite a while to look this way & has nothing to do with our fertilizer & weed control. So it appears that after the phone message I just listened to, it is clear that there is no reason to even respond to you any further except I will refund the money on the account of $83.88. The prepay contract says 4% discount on 4 applications & since you are breaking this contract by requesting cancellation there is no discount. The check will be in the mail by Friday. And if you want to go to court filing fees are $85.00 plus service of the claim, the loser eats all costs. Thank you & have a good evening Melinda Ginger
