I used this service for two years. During each year the lawn suffers from either grubs (which they say they have applied grub control) or fungus. They never reach out to me as to how to address and unfortunately my back yard is virtually destroyed. The person doing the application does not speak or share any comments. Unfortunately, I have canceled this subscription.

I will preface this review by stating my prior fertilizing company that set the bar pretty high. Unfortunately, the owner retired and sold the company. We've been using Contender's for 5 or more years. We had a few issues in the beginning (they didn't leave an invoice on the door or leave any evidence that they actually fertilized. I was home all day and never saw anyone stop by). They said that they don't leave paper invoices and only do this online (seems strange to me). From that point up to this year (2025) everything seemed to be running fine. This year I'm noticing a ton of dandy-lions, clovers and crab grass popping up. I sent 3 emails and no response and then called twice before someone answered. I explained the situation and was told I was past due for the July treatment, and they would rush someone out there. I specifically asked about the dandy-lions, clovers and crab grass, but there was no mention of this in their report. It's been 5 days and I'm not seeing any difference in any of these.

Not thorough, poor communication, rude, ZERO interest in correcting anything done poorly on their part, inconsistent etc... We used their services for 5 or 6 years and it got worse every year. To the point that they would send someone out to "spray for bugs" and the person would get out of their car, put the little sign in the yard indicating that they had sprayed but the person would be gone in under 2 minutes. Clearly not enough time to do a decent let alone thorough job. After having evidence of this on our surveillance camera and being thoroughly disappointed, we complained and withheld payment. After speaking to someone there who said that we would get an additional service, we were waiting for the service to pay. They never came to do the service but instead threatened us with counting our non-payment as delinquent. So we paid it. Then the owner of the company decided to cancel our service AFTER we said that we we're going to cancel it. She was incredibly rude and not accommodating whatsoever. I have to assume that maybe they have more work than they are able to handle and do not want any more work and are just out there pretending to perform services and collecting the money. Would strongly suggest finding a different company!

Owner is Not accommodating. She is very rude, and their workers are not thorough with their applications. I do not recommend them! I've been with them for 5-6 years and every year it gets worse and worse. Then, she (the owner) cancels me..?! Good riddance!!

I used Contender's for 3 years. They were OK until this year. I paid for the grub control application this year and the grubs have destroyed a large part of my lawn. The technician, Trevor, confirmed tha it was grub infestation but it was too late to do anything. Needless to say I'm no longer a customer of Contenders. Buyer beware!

Always a pleasure to do business with Contenders. I’ve been a loyal customer for years. Prices are fair and quality is outstanding. Five stars for me!

Killed 3 of our trees when they sprayed in July under direct sun. Refused to replace trees and right their wrong. As “partly woman owned company” I’d expect more integrity as a woman myself, especially when using gender as a marketing tool. DO NOT USE.

Finally found an arborist not interested in removing trees but keeping them healthy. Visit was free and talked me out of a service because I didn't need it. Tim was great.

I’ve been using Contenders for years and they have always done a great job. I have not had any issues since they started. I highly recommend there services.
