I recently became a customer with this company and I’m having the worst experience ever with communication and getting the service that I’m paying for provided. Appointments are being set and no one shows up. I’ve been waiting 3 days for a manager to call me back. This is a very frustrating experience.

They start billing 90 days before payment is due. At 60 days bills are marked second notice. Then still at 60 days before payment is due start calling during dinner. When had termites called they said I didn’t and only old damage. Had to send videos of active termites to regional office to get better response.

My problem is with the billing department. On April 15th, I received a call that I would be referred to a collection agency for an overdue balance. I received my first bill one week earlier and mailed my payment the same week. When I called the office, I was told I was delinquent on a payment due in February. I guess they billed February’s balance in March and mailed the bill in April, so they could now tell me I’m somehow 60 days overdue? That’s nonsense. I’ll be canceling my account as soon as my contract expires.

After our initial consultation, we agreed to a spray for some unknown bugs in our cabinets and scheduled for Friday 9-11am. On Friday, the man shows up at 11:45 and I had to turn him away because I was leaving for prior plans. The man complained to me that he had to drive 2 hours to his next appointment, We rescheduled with the office for the following Thursday 11-2pm. The same man showed up at 1:55. He said, "what's the problem?" I was mistaken in thinking he had been briefed by the man who visited us for our consultation, so the serviceman came in blind, which made no sense to me. I showed him the bugs and immediately without he thinking he exclaimed "I dont know what those are." I said, "Neither do I, that's why I called an exterminator." He said, "Well, I don't know but I guess I can spray." I said, "Why would you spray if you don't know what you're spraying for?" The man continued to just say he didn't know and showed absolutely no signs of trying to determine or care about his job in general. I told him I would find another company who would care and try. He said "don't do that...." as if this has happened to him before. It felt like I was being punk'd. He was extremely unprofessional and couldn't have cared less. Now I wait to see if they try to bill me...

This review is not meant to be a reflection of the entire company nor the entire NOLA office. I will just say that last week, a same day appointment was made for an active in wall termite inspection between 1 and 4pm. The service tech was a NO SHOW/NO CALL. After contacting the office again the next day to inquire about my appointment, I did receive a call from the tech who informed me he was off that day [Friday] but would be working a 1/2 day on Saturday & would come out in the morning. Again No Show/No Call. I do understand its swarm season and business is hectic, but to just leave customers hanging, waiting for service is highly unprofessional. NOTE: Mr. Boustead thank you for offering to come out in this serviceman's place. I declined your offer to give this person the benefit of making it right. He did not.

Was calling around for information and wanted to speak with a knowledgeable rep to ask a few questions from, I've seen and heard the ads so I wanted to give J&J a shot. When I called, I was IMMEDIATELY turned off by how short the answers I received on the phone, when asked questions with specifics towards my situation, I was only asked if I would like to schedule an appointment instead of looking for the answer to the question (which was NOT about pests, it was about services offered and consultations) I wanted customer service, what I ended up getting was a short-mannered order-taker that could honestly had been an answering service for all I know. If your CSRs cannot answer simple questions about if the technician can provide an assessment of causation, and all you want to do is schedule a service and HOPE to not get my time wasted, then you do not deserve my business. For whoever from the company reads this; this was a call in reference to one of my many rental properties around the city. it was a business calling a business and it seemed yours didn't understand how to handle that well when I called. Because your initial contact was so terrible, you're losing out on not one residential account, but potentially a business account that had multiple income streams for YOUR business.

This company is nothing but stress and headaches. Their customer service is rude and their people won’t show up to appointments (but don’t worry-they will charge you for them!) When I wouldn’t pay for the appointment that never happened, they sent it to collection and messed up my credit. Save your sanity and STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Also, they take out loans in your name without your permission. I honestly should have sued them

I scheduled an appointment which I had to change considering my shift at the hospital which has been an ongoing problem with J&J. It happened to coincide with Hurricane Zeta. However, I received a confirmation text the day prior on 10/27 for the morning of the hurricane for 8-11. The weather was fine at that time. I waited on my first day off after working 9 days straight from 7 am to 7 pm and the. I called. I was told that someone would call me back soon yet I waited and hour and a half without a call back. I then again called and was transferred to a “manager”?! He was the least bit helpful! He stated that they had sent out automated messages to state that they were not going out due to the hurricane, but for some reason, it was not sent to me?! No explanation as to why I was told someone would contact me after I called earlier or as to the reason why that person had no idea why they did not know that?! The manager OFFERED NOTHING, except “I am sorry”! He did not sound sorry but more like “put out”! He was not helpful at all! I would give J&J a negative rating if I could because the service was beyond horrible and I gave them multiple chances!
I have had my existing termite contract for more than 10 years…originally with Safeguard Termite & Pest Control and then J & J Exterminating Co. bought them out around 6-7 years ago. Safeguard always did a very professional job. Each year, they would contact me to schedule the annual inspection and I would then pay the annual fee. When J & J Exterminating Co., took over the contract, the practice of scheduling the annual inspections beforehand stopped. The first couple of times, an inspector just showed up without notice to inspect the house. Since my wife and I both worked, someone may or may not be here when they showed up. In my view, this really needs to be done, if not to make the process more efficient, than for the sake of professionalism & courtesy. One particular time we were not home and an inspection form was left at my front door with a note to call the office to schedule the indoors inspection (which I did). After this, I called the office and told the person that from now on, I would like to be called beforehand to schedule the inspections in a time when someone would be home so that the entire inspection could be done. I don’t think this has ever happened. One thing J & J Exterminating Co., is very efficient at is sending out the bill for the annual contract renewal. A few months ago, I received my bill. I was going to write a check to send in my payment but soon realized that I didn’t remember ever getting my annual inspection done for 2018. I keep all my inspection reports so I checked them and, sure enough, I couldn’t find one for 2018. I called the local J&J office. I asked the lady who answered the phone to check my account to see if an inspection was done in 2018. She confirmed that one had not been done. When she offered no explanation, I told her that I thought the annual inspection was part of the fee and was actually required and then asked her to explain what the purpose was for the annual fee. She told me that I “had the liquid treatment and the it was good for 10 years before needing another inspection.” This didn’t sound right to me so I questioned her further. She told me that a number of people at the company had left this past year and they were making a list of people whose inspections had been missed. She took my cell phone number and told me someone would call me very soon. I received no phone call. A week later, I sent a detailed message of my problem to the customer service email address located on the main web-site. It was my experience that the technicians who come out to do the work do a good job…my issue is with the administration of the contract. Customer service is almost non-existent. I haven’t heard from anyone. I totally lost confidence in this company and have since initiated a new termite contract with a competitor since I was at the end of my contract period anyway.
