Marshall Pest Control has been fertilizing and treating my lawn for the past nine years. Before them I tried a couple of the larger franchised lawn care companies without consistent results. Marshall has maintained my lawn to a lush green throughout the year, and pays special attention to any problem areas. My neighbors on both sides have switched to Marshall because of the way my lawn looks, and there have been numerous walkers in the evening who compliment the lawn as they walk by. Charly has been my technician since the beginning and I’m sure that’s one of the reasons for having such a positive experience. He is friendly, professional, and clearly dedicated to caring for his lawns. I appreciate the extra notes on the door tag explaining any special watering considerations, dry spots noticed, potential insect issues, etc. It’s great to have a lawn care company that keeps my lawn healthy at a very reasonable price. Thank you!

So very disappointed with the lack of attention and service; however in reading the other reviews, I'm not alone. For the $$ I expect the tech's look at my yard and treat accordingly but it appears that Marshall's doesn't promote that! I called in early May about brown patches suspecting chinch bugs. They asked for photos which were sent. No response until I called. They were unwilling to come out, stating all customers get treatment in June. Their people are well trained to dance around the issue.... serious customer service issues. My yard continues to deteriorate and I have zilch confidence in Marshall's to rectify. Moving on! ...Former client

Provider response

We are sorry you have that opinion. However, the notes on your account show otherwise.
When we came out to assess your yard for services and pricing, your yard already had active chinch bugs, and chinch bug damage. It was graded the worst – Grade D.
We then suffered three hurricanes causing devastating damage to our homes, and our landscaping.
Monday, 08/05/25 – Hurricane Debby, Thursday, 09/26/25 through Monday, 09/30/25 – Hurricane Helene, and Monday, 10/07/24 through Monday, 10/14/24 – Hurricane Milton.
You are also on reclaimed water, which was contaminated with saltwater during the hurricanes, adding further damage to your lawn. Add your existing chinch bug infestation and damages, three devastating hurricanes, saltwater in your irrigation, all to your new sod that was installed in September, and that will take months to recover with proper care and treatment – if you were lucky to have any landscaping recover from all of that.
Your technician is extremely thorough and knowledgeable. Yes, you called in May on 05/08/25 and we had a technician out to your property within a week for a free service call. Just a reminder that damage to your turf can occur from improper irrigation as well as factors in Mother Nature in a matter of days, can take weeks to months to fully recover.
You need to look at the entire timeline of your lawn and landscaping and you will find we did not drop the ball. We stepped up and were out treating yards right after the hurricanes, helping our customers to mitigate their landscaping damage because that is not covered by insurance.
If you need further information on our Florida horticulture you may want to Google the University of Florida IFAS department website. It is truly a wealth of information and education.
Thank you.

Horrible or rather no customer service breaching their own written contract conditions and terms of service for lawn care. I added recommendations for addressing problem from the Florida agriculture Dept Pinellas County extension after examining grass samples. That is not me telling Marshall what to do. They do only what they deem every 6 weeks. I have requested exactly what they have treated my lawn since they started 12/24 upon request from U OF FL Agriculture dept. Only after Massey totally destroyed my grass as they never treated for fungus in an entire year, and analysis from the UF IFAS EXTENSION, did I pursue legal advice. Massey in fact admitted fault and never went yo a law suit. This office manager, Ilia Taber is misconstruing facts and rude! Massey did replace my lawn sod after months of hassling. I signed a contract and it has been breached.

Provider response

You stated you sued Massey to replace your entire lawn and then threatened to sue us to do the same because you signed up for services then tried to tell us what services you wanted and what chemicals you wanted us to apply. That is not part of our services agreement.

Marshall’s wasn’t super pleasant to deal with after I found iron pellets in my new pool. They gave me a hard time just to clean them after I speak endless money trying to eradicate the problem myself. After I cancelled service because of it I had a due payment and they called me twice in 5 days threatening to send me to debt collections. Not the best customer service or quality of work.

Provider response

You claimed we stained your pool. You continued to claim that stains appeared even after we cleaned it and did no further treatments - then called us and requested us to restart services.
We politely declined taking the services back on due to liability and claims we continued to damage your pool weeks after the service was performed.

I started using Marshall at the end of 2021. I had a few issues where the team would spray my yard right before huge rain storms (it was very obvious it was about to storm) and Marshall said that that was OK because if helped the product. I would think spraying toxic weed spray 10 minutes before it rains means it is going into the sewer and into the bay. In June of 2022 I received a $20 higher bill. I paid my regular amount. Marshall said they raised prices. I let them know I was never informed but from July 2022 on paid the 10% higher bills. Fast forward to December 2024. After going through 2 hurricanes and not being in my home for Christmas Aili emails me and says she is sending me to collections for $20. I told her that this has been floating around since June 2022, they never notified me of price increases and if she could show where that was communicated. She was unable to provide this documentation and was honestly very combative and rude. She alone makes me never want to work this company. Again, I have consistently paid them for their services. All in all I would love to work with someone local but not this team.

Provider response

The office provided you complete documentation that your invoice was due and there had not been a price increase in 3-years since 2022, as you claimed we raised your price without notification. You were overdue with payment and therefore you were notified though did not send in payment in a timely manner.

Marshall's has been doing our yard for the last seven years so it was very disappointing when they came out after hurricane Helene and treated our yard without checking with us first. The entire barrier island was under three feet of water and the landscaping everywhere was devastated beyond repair. At the point they treated we still had piles of debris in the yard covering some of the small amount of grass we have in the front yard. We had shrubs in the front yard that were dead from hurricane Debbie and trees tipped over. Every shrub in our back yard was washed away by hurricane Helene leaving only artificial turf in the back. The future of the property wasn't even determined at that point. After speaking to their office they insisted they were trying to save the dead grass and shrubs. I sympathize that a large part of their service area lost their landscaping which affected their revenue but many other businesses were suffering with that too. I will never do any business with their company if their policy is to take advantage of people after a devastating disaster.

Provider response

Good day, We called all customers and communicated to them that we were restarting services and if we were not notified to hold the services or cancel them, we provided services to assist your landscaping to recover from the saltwater and hurricane damages.
Hi! I have had Marshall Pest control for a few years. Lawn looks good never really great but good enough. After Hurricane Helene came through I cancelled my service. However Marshall showed up anyway. Instead of seeing the home was vacant and the grass was overgrown and calling me to verify service, the technician treated anyway. Now Marshall wants me to foot the bill! Very poor customer service. And the 'office manager' wasn't even kind when I was telling her what happened. She immediately jump at me and now is sending my bill into collections. Nothing like taking advantage of customers that are down to boost sales!
