After a lengthy back and forth with their personnel, I sacrificed my up-front non-refundable $250 chimney inspection fee rather than do business with them.

We did not have a good experience. The technician Alex that they sent out didn't seem knowledgeable about what he was supposed to do. He was reading instructions from his iPad which made my husband and I a little leery. He told us we needed a mechanical sweeping and there was some rotten wood along with some other things but this is not so. I got a 2nd opinion from another company and that was so untrue! All we basically paid our money for was the pictures which was $125.00 and wanted to charge over $600.00 for some made up repairs! I called to address my concerns but it was not resolved. I'm glad there are some good people in this world because the 2nd company didn't charge a dime! So beware!

Response from Coopertown Fireplace & Wildlife Services

Hello,

We’re sad to hear that you weren’t satisfied with your inspection. Alex, along with all of our technicians, is CSIA certified however we do use tablets to refer to manufacturer’s manuals to ensure we’re abiding by all specific requirements for particular units, as well as to write up work orders. One of the reasons we provide pictures with our inspections is so that you can see for yourself any damage we find. Safety is our number one priority so we will always recommend repairs to damage that could pose a risk to you or your home. If you have any questions about our inspection process or the details of your inspection please reach out to us at 901-358-7777 and we will be happy to go over that with you further.

In January 2020, Coopertown came out and repaired our wood burning fireplace chimney which had deteriorated and was leaking water every time it rained. We also ended up converting it to gas logs. A year later, it's not leaking anymore (which is great) and I love the gas logs. However, the exterior work was extremely sloppy and Coopertown damaged multiple items on our property. I had to follow up with them on the work and their resolutions were not the best. 1. Some materials were dumped in our grass which has effectively killed/ruined the grass and whatever the material is (a white/gray puddy material) won't go away. There were two spots that we noticed this in and I'm not sure why materials were discarded like that in our grass. To remedy this, Coopertown came out and sprinkled some "grass seed" without even knowing the type of our grass or anything about lawn maintenance. 2. They rebuilt the side shoulders with fresh mortar on a 45 degree angle to shed water on the sides of our chimney and it doesn't aesthetically look great and some of it is pretty messy/smudged on the side of our chimney. I would have asked them not to do this honestly if I knew how it was going to look. I've attached an images of this. Previously, it was just 90 degree angled brick. To remedy this, Coopertown had a different tech come out and do some work on it. It looks better than the original work but is still super sloppy, uneven and an eye sore. 3. Some of the putty was sprayed all over our outdoor speaker. I noticed this after the second round of fixes. 4. Our hose splitter was damaged and never replaced despite us mentioning it twice. Coopertown never replaced or credited us for this. ---- Edit: In regards to Coopertown's response - they never once followed up with me about their work. After the first botched siding, I called them and they came out. I obviously lost confidence after the second time where it still looked sloppy and awful. I am skeptical of having them out a third time, which is unfortunate given their high costs. If Coopertown feels so inclined, I urge them to call me directly instead of just responding to my Google review for public views. I will provide any updates here to their outreach and solutions.

M. Gordon,

We are very sorry to hear about your bad experience with our company. We are normally known for our exceptional attention to detail, and we regret you feel as though we failed you in this area.

After initially hearing of your concerns and sending someone out to correct those concerns, we were under the impression that the final product had met your satisfaction. We are displeased to hear that you are still unhappy with our work and wish that we had heard from you in the last several months so we could have stayed on top of all concerns until fully rectified.

If you are open to allowing a return, we are happy to promptly get a technician out to your home to re-assess these concerns with you. Please give our office a call at 901-358-7777 if you’d like to get someone back out to your home as soon as possible.

$125 charge just to write an estimate. Unbelievable.

Response from Coopertown Fireplace & Wildlife Services

We are sorry that you did not make an appointment with our company. In order for us to build a new fireplace & chimney, we have to thoroughly inspect the area where the system will be added. Because of the extensiveness of this process, we charge a $125 inspection fee; however, as we explained to you on the phone, it can be applied to any future repairs. We are always upfront and transparent about pricing before any work is done. We apologize for any inconvenience, but this type of work is priced what it is so we can provide the best possible service to our customers.

They came to my property and charged my wife $8,000 for work that they didn't do. they came and sat in their van for half the day which I have recorded on my cameras. when I asked about the metal liners they took off my roof they refused to show them to me and also refused to show many any pictures of the newly installed ones. its absolutely ridiculous the customer service was poor and my chimney is still leaking. they did however catch the racoon but they also forgot to come back to retrieve it out of my attic so I have to pay for someone else to come do that.

Response from Coopertown Fireplace & Wildlife Services

Ryeon is a past employee. We never performed any work at his home and this is not a review of a customer's experience with us.

Subpar chimney repairs and they lie about rodent infestations to everyone. They spray repellent(water) in attics and charge for it.if he pulled some of the chimney repairs working for a real contractor he would never get work again. The father/son are basically con artists and all the 5star reviews are fake

Really wanted to like these guys, but felt like I was taken by them. Inspector (David) was very nice and thorough and we were off to a great start. But I felt like the actual technicians didn't understand the detail of the the scope of work. Bait and switch tactic. They are expensive, rude and actually never finished what they said would do. And in the middle of the job I was basically threatened that if I didn't agree to pay 90% of the job, that they would stop and walk off the job! They made a mess on my back patio, and washed concrete buckets on my driveway leaving behind a mess. It was a struggle to get them to stick to their word in regards to repairing water damaged interior above fireplace; and the guy never came back to finish what he started. Oh and my wheelbarrow, which was identical to theirs, mysteriously went missing; seriously? If you use them, be cautious and ask lots of questions on what the work will actually cover.
