Walked in and was not greeted. Cashier was very awkward, unfriendly, and didn’t interact with us at all. It felt like we inconvenienced her by coming in. We were eager to learn more about hydroponics and growing as a whole but were disappointed with our visit here so we quickly bought 2 small items and left. This is example #1 why local businesses fail and people buy their products online.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
I went here for the first time last weekend and the man working there was super helpful! I told him the aphid problem I was having in my garden and he offered me solutions that didn't involve pesticides. I got live ladybugs and green lacewing eggs which got my daughters really excited. Overall a great experience and has convinced me to come back!

Hi Gerardo, we have a new site where we post specials and we just launched naturescontrol.com if you want to order beneficial insects online.
Nice store, I expected plants by the name ,but mostly had fertilizer, and things like that. Helpful.

Sorry we didn't live up to your expectations, Carol. We can do special orders for some items that we don't stock.
DONT BUY ANY Predatory Mites! They claim they lay eggs and breed on there own to eat the evil mites but NEVER do! They live only 2 weeks then die. I bought 4 different times & several thousand at a time, ALL DIED without laying eggs! I have wasted my money, time, hope and now still have sick plants! :( I still have evil mites and I use a 64x magnifier and see no eggs or not even one Predatory Mite in sight! I'm a clean grower for 10 yrs+ and I have bought Predatory Mites in the past that actually lived long enough and did lay eggs to control the mite infestation. Now I have to spend tons of money on organic miticides to spray and still have to throw plants out!!! Save your time & money, just spray a safe miticide.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our predatory mites. We’re truly sorry to hear about your frustration and the challenges you’ve faced with your plants. Your feedback is important to us, and we’d like to address your concerns to help resolve this for you and ensure better outcomes for other growers.

Predatory mites, such as Phytoseiulus persimilis and other species, are indeed designed to lay eggs and breed on their own to control pest mites like spider mites. These beneficial insects typically have a life cycle that allows them to reproduce quickly under the right conditions—usually laying 50 to 60 eggs per female, with a full life cycle taking about 5 to 10 days at optimal temperatures (around 70-86°F) and humidity levels (50-90%). However, their effectiveness can be influenced by several factors, including environmental conditions, the initial pest mite population, and release timing.

It’s concerning to hear that you didn’t see any eggs or live predatory mites, even with a 64x magnifier. Predatory mites are small and can be hard to spot, but they should be visible under magnification, especially on the undersides of leaves where pest mites are present. They are also known to be pear-shaped, with longer front legs, and lack the dark spots found on pest mites. If you weren’t able to observe any activity, it’s possible there were issues with the transportation, storage, or release process. Predatory mites are live organisms and need to be released immediately upon arrival (within 18 hours is recommended) and kept cool during transit. High temperatures, low humidity, or delays in release can reduce their survival and effectiveness.

You mentioned purchasing several thousand mites over four separate occasions, which suggests a significant investment of time and money. We’re sorry to hear this didn’t yield the results you expected. In some cases, if pest mite populations are already very high when predatory mites are released, it can be challenging for them to establish and reproduce fast enough to gain control. We suggest releasing predatory mites at the first sign of pest mites and, if infestations are heavy, using a knock-down spray (like insecticidal soap or neem oil) 48 hours before releasing the predators to reduce the pest population.

It’s also worth noting that predatory mites can leave the area if pest mite populations drop too low, as they’ll search for food elsewhere. This might explain why you didn’t see them later. Additionally, some species are sensitive to temperatures above 90°F and low humidity, which could impact their survival and egg-laying in certain conditions.

We’re glad to hear that you’ve had success with predatory mites in the past, which indicates they can be effective when conditions are right. The fact that you’re an experienced grower with 10+ years of clean growing practices suggests you’re doing many things correctly, but there may have been specific challenges with these batches. We’d like to work with you to investigate further—please reach out to us with details about your growing environment (temperature, humidity, plant types, and release methods), and we’ll do our best to address this. We can also offer guidance on storage and release rates.

While organic miticides can be a useful backup, as you’ve found, predatory mites are often a sustainable, long-term solution when used correctly. We hate to hear that you’ve had to discard plants and spend additional money on sprays, and we’re committed to helping you avoid this in the future.

Thank you again for your honesty. We hope to restore your confidence in our products and support you in achieving a healthy, mite-free grow.
