Prompt response, applied treatment within 24 hours of first contact. Too early to determine how effective the treatment is, but the two persons who applied treatment were very pleasant. Only small concern was lack of prior notification as I have a dog who is very protective.

Late spring of last year I noticed yellow jacket activity around the patio deck behind my house. I found several nests beneath wooden benches on my deck and sprayed them with Hot Shot Flying Insect Killer early one morning. They all died almost instantly, but I still had yellow jackets. I discovered an underground nest beneath my deck and adjacent to the foundation of my house. Subsequently I found activity under the vinyl siding along the foundation at the other end of my house, and I would occasionally find yellow jackets inside my house. I called A-1 Pest Control and explained that I didn’t have the tools to determine the exact location of the nests and apply treatment. I needed professional help. A-1 told me their technicians would make a thorough inspection and apply treatment to the entire outside of my house for $128. The technicians found a small paper nest under the eve above my garage but failed to notice a major underground nest along the foundation in front of my house. The technicians had no tools to view or determine the exact location of the hidden nest and no tools to make application to those areas. They sprayed the exterior with a “one size fits all” treatment. I saw a few dead yellow jackets the next day, but no decline in yellow jacket activity. I tried the cute plastic yellow jacket traps, and they too were ineffective. I noticed that the yellow jackets passed through a narrow zone as they left or entered their nest entrance. With my can of Hot Shot, I sprayed them one or two at a time as they flew through this zone. The spray knocked them out of the air instantly and they died soon after. This activity became a very satisfying recreational sport, like wing shooting with a spray can. Over a month’s time I killed several hundred, but as yellow jacket activity declined the process became tedious and time consuming. I found more treatment options on YouTube and will try some when the yellow jackets emerge this year. But one thing I will not do is call A-1 Pest Control for service.
