As our project spanned the Christmas holiday period, we like to think of working with Wheat as a gift. Ashley, the overall project manager and designer, came out initially and helped us visualize our project and scope it out. Once set and ready to go, Leo directly oversaw the day-to-day management of the project and provided just the right amount of communication to us and guidance to the team. The team that worked in our yard from beginning to end was made up of absolute professionals. Oscar was the hard-working team chief and he was ably supported by Julio, Edwin, and Marvin. Working in December temperatures, sometimes in less-than-optimal conditions they put in very solid 8-10 hour days and brought the well-developed concept to beautiful reality. At all times they were polite and totally professional, and we thoroughly enjoyed interacting with them. When we offered in-progress feedback the entire team was responsive and when we offered a few thoughts during the final walk-through inspection the onsite team returned the very next day to smooth out the final product. The entire process, from beginning to end, was handled in an outstanding manner, and the beautiful, finished product exceeded our expectations. We were very pleased and will look forward to working with this team of seasoned professional again as new projects come up. Highly recommended!

Kelvin was introduced to me by a friend and I am so glad that I called him. He has done some brick work on my walk way, some frame work on my concrete drive way and a big landscaping job on my backyard and front yard. I am very happy with his job. He is very honest and fair with the pricing. I will definitely recommend him.

Reliable, superb quality, knowledgeable, responsive, and great customer service. Our property “manager”, Kane, is awesome. We have tried many landscape companies prior to Wheat’s but none come close. They are definitely more expensive but well worth the money!

Our yard has never looked better. We used Wheats to both renovate, and maintain our new landscaping. I have been a customer of Wheats for years. They maintained my first house and my current house both of which have challenging topographies. My current house has complex drainage issues which were addressed effectively and esthetically with a full property landscape plan. Wheats provides courteous and professional service. They are always a pleasure to work with. When a newly planted magnolia bush died due to over-saturation in the July daily rainstorms, they replaced it under warranty with no hassle. I strongly recommend them for basic lawn and garden maintenance.

Very pleased with their work, and cont'd work on our property. During the earlier one week+ on site project, the dedicated work crew was on time and on cue every morning, user friendly and helpful with concerns & questions. Really appreciate working with Kane Ramsey, who gets things done in a timely manner, a person who actually returns calls and messages, always there with advice and solutions.

Wheat's is, in a word, mediocre. They purport to be a stellar business, but the reality is different... they do not care about customers. Their work is shoddy - the sod they put down died nearly immediately, and the tree died shortly thereafter. At the same time, prices are outrageous and customer service is abysmal. If you have a huge project with unlimited resources, Wheats might be your answer. Anyone else - look elsewhere.

On 4/23/2025 around 10:48am, the Wheat’s staff in this truck (a man in a white shirt with Wheat’s logo on left chest, in his 50s) caused direct fall of a scooter rider with injury from honking in a neighborhood while driving likely between 35-40mph. Upon addressing the matter in-person, this staff gave no apology and said he “didn’t see the fall” which further supports negligence of the driver. Upon calling the office, the reaction was not much different than the staff in the truck. I had a good impression on Wheat’s until today’s incidence. Now the weather is getting warmer, more people are enjoying outdoor activities including children and I am quite concerned of this behavior exhibited by Wheat’s. If you do really mean what you say to earn business from residents, please act as what you claim.
Unfortunately I was disappointed in Wheats landscaping. They kept using weed killer that burned 3/4 of my front lawn. Very sad. When I asked them about it and wanted to know what happened they said it was because of the heat. However zoysia grass is very heat tolerant. I discontinued service and it took a year to grow back the grass. My neighbors also complained about the workmen blowing leaves into their yard on a continual basis. Very disappointing.

Just called for an estimate to get some work done in my backyard. Was told they don’t service my area. I’ve never had a business in NoVa turn down my business. Btw, I’m 10 to 15 min from Vienna. Gobsmacked.

We originally contracted certain services, which were not fulfilled by the Wheat's team. It took over 7+ months of continuous reminders and attempts to communicate what was (or wasn't) being completed and we were told that it would be soon or throughout the next few months. Finally, they ended up giving us an additional quote (nearly $10K) to complete the necessary services originally quoted in the contract. The scope had expanded due to their lack of maintenance from when originally contracted (basic leaf and debris removal turned into clearing an entire area of growth). No response from management despite trying to get in contact with someone so finally had to cancel services. Extremely disappointed considering how much was paid. Do not recommend.
I am not one to post negative reviews about business establishments online because honestly I find it unnecessary to share negative customer experiences with anyone outside of the business itself, but based on the experience my family has had with Wheats combined with the complete lack of compassion/respect from management when concerns were voiced, I feel it’s appropriate to make these concerns known so that (hopefully) others will not have to deal with the situation my husband and I have dealt with. When my husband and I moved into our new home we hired wheats for landscaping services. I am not going to re hash all the events that occurred during the series of months we worked with them because at this point it’s redundant. To state it simply, it was consistently impossible to get in touch with anyone, account managers changed without notification multiple times, we were charged for services that were not rendered until we harassed them to come complete lawn services when it became overgrown and the list goes on. The issue at hand regards two defective trees that were planted in our backyard. It became clear early on that these two trees were dead. When we finally (after several weeks) got ahold of someone to come and replace ONE of the two trees, the individual who was doing the replacement made a note of a second tree that looked like it was dying as well. We decided at that time to monitor that tree to see if that was the case. When it became clear that he was right, we spoke with wheats and planned on replacing that second tree in the spring time (April specifically) when it would take better to replacement. It is now July and my husband finally was able to get in touch with someone after weeks of trying to make a connection. When he spoke with the individual who identified herself as the owner of the company, she explained that their supply and gps records indicated that the second dead tree was in fact replaced in April. Now this is where it gets absurd. I have the proof that this tree was not replaced right in my backyard because it’s still dead !! When I tried to explain this to her on the phone she kept saying their truck gps location indicates that the truck was in our area in April and the tree was replaced. After trying to explain that the dead tree is still in my backyard over and over and over again, this individual became extremely condescending suggesting that it’s just a third three that died and I’m trying to get a third tree replaced. I asked her if she would be willing to come to my home so that she could evaluate the tree and see that if this tree had in fact been replaced and then just died again, why would it be 24inches taller than the ONE tree that was replaced ?? Why would it be the same height as the 12 other original trees ?? That would be because it was not replaced !! The second tree was never replaced. It is the same tree. Anyways, she refused to come and see the tree continuing to be condensing and unhelpful just stating over and over that her records show the second tree was replaced. In this situation the point isn’t that wheats didn’t replace the tree. The point is that management was unwilling to even come to my house to see the tree, evaluate its age, and then realize that it is an original tree that was never replaced. That’s what has upset me so much. Upper management was unwilling to check their own work and just verify whether the replanting on the second tree was actually done. It’s concerning that this management team can be so firm in their belief that work was done when they are unwilling to come at customer request to double check. I truly hope no other customer has to deal with something like this ever. It was a very sad experience for us.

I try not to cast dispersions on restaurants and businesses, but I am posting on here to 1. Serve as a cautionary tale and 2. Try and get the company to replace my dead tree that is under warranty. We were overcharged for services for over a year until we found a MUCH better landscape service. They will do things like unnecessarily bill you for general weeding every other time they visit your property. A respectable landscaping company will weed your property approximately 4 times per year. Wheats also quoted me $12,000 to install a paver patio that I ultimately had done by a different company for $3,000. And good luck ever trying to get a response from anyone in this terribly-run company. We overpaid for them to plant 12 trees in our backyard. Two of them died, and all of the trees were under warranty. They replaced one (7 months after I incessantly asked on a biweekly basis), and they still have not replaced the other dead tree, despite my 3 phone calls and several email attempts.

Requested a quote from Wheat's for drainage services in May of this. Received a visit from Wheat's representative approximately 6 weeks later after a few calls. He said he would get back with a quote and never heard from him again. Called the company to find out why, only to get more run around and that person never followed up either. I can only assume that Wheat's doesn't serve modest homes in our town. We live in a smaller home the middle of two "high end" properties. Funny...Wheat's service's both those homes on a regular basis.

The website lists a lawn mowing/maintenance service, but when you call, they don't actually offer that, they only advertise it. you have to sign a larger contract to get them to agree to cut your lawn.

Hardly worth the cost. I am happy to pay a premium for quality and consistent service. Wheats charges a hefty premium, but in my experience, it comes up short on their end of the bargain. Save your money and your lawn and hire someone else. I canceled my contract because, as near as I can determine, they basically forgot about my lawn. I emailed my account rep recently to make sure we were set for the spring. I did that because (a) my lawn looked bad in the fall and worse through the winter, so I wanted to make sure we had a head start on the spring; and (b) I didn't recall receiving anything from wheats for a long time now-- no correspondence, no note on work performed or to be performed on the lawn, nothing about when we would start the spring seeding schedule etc. After not hearing anything I reached out again. After more radio silence, I called and was routed through a nice but wholly unhelpful customer service rep until I found myself talking to someone who said he was in charge of my account, despite the fact that we have never spoken and the fact that he was not the same account rep I had last season. It became apparent that he didn't know who I was and essentially was just assigned my account. He didn't have any idea of what my landscaping services were, whether they had already fertilized and seeded, whether I was scheduled for anything etc. He was nice, but it was a pointless call. I canceled right then. Poor management is one thing, but after a year of using Wheats, my lawn is worse than before I started using them. I need to re-sod about 30 percent of my lawn to start over. Add that to the keystone cops routine on my account, and it was an easy call to cancel. What a waste. My bad for using Wheats. They came highly recommended fwiw. I hired another landscaping company today. They are smaller, more eager to deliver services, and had their act together. I'm also paying significantly less than Wheats charged me. I'm giving Wheats one star, which feels a little generous, but it's fair overall.
