We got Aeration and top dressing today and the guys that did the work were great. I've never done this before so I had a lot of questions. They manually shoveled trouble spots I pointed out with extra dressing. And they blew off the concrete when they were done. I can't say enough about the guys that did the work, very helpful and friendly.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you for taking the time to share this, Jeff! We’re so glad your first aeration and top dressing experience was a positive one. Our team always aims to be thorough and helpful, so it’s great to hear they took the extra time to address your concerns, give those trouble spots some added attention, and leave everything neat when they wrapped up. We appreciate you trusting The Master’s Lawn & Pest with your lawn care!

Nathan fixed my irrigation system, could not have had a more pleasant experience. He is an efficient and courteous employee who represents his company well. If I had a business, I would try to poach him. He definitely knows what he is doing, cost was less than I expected and he explained everything in the detail I wanted.

Master's Lawn is the best! They keep our lawn looking nice and green. If we ever have issues they come out right away and help fix it. The guys are always so nice and professional. It is also great to work with a locally owned business.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you Heather!
Between Brent's landscape plan and D'Shaun and his team making it happen, I couldn't be happier with the results. They good naturedly transformed areas of my yard long neglected and other areas previously done poorly. If I had a bigger yard, I would certainly ask them back. Absolutely delighted with the results.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback, Jill! We’re so happy to hear how pleased you are with the transformation of your yard. Brent’s design work, combined with D’Shaun and the crew’s dedication in the field, is exactly the teamwork we strive for on every project. It’s great to know the areas that once needed attention now look the way you hoped. We truly appreciate the opportunity to work on your property and are grateful for your kind words about the team.

Have used Masters Lawn Care for years. Have found them nice, friendly easy to work with. They do a great job and would highly recommend them!
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you for your business and your kind words!! We appreciate it!
1st..I've had a good experience with talking with Lynn at the office. She had all the answers need to complete my process of setting up payments. 2nd..I had a great experience with Brandon who came to inspect and repair my sprinkler system. He was great, kept me informed as to what he discovered and made a replacement of one the sprinkler heads. Took a few minutes to go over the control box, since I'm get forgetful. Just an all around great experience. I would also say the price is responsible. Thanks
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you so much for the kind review, Terry! We’re glad to hear that Lynn helped make the payment setup process easy and that Brandon took great care of your sprinkler system inspection and repair. Keeping you informed and ensuring everything, from the sprinkler head replacement to the control box, is clear is exactly the level of service we aim to provide. We appreciate you choosing The Master’s Lawn & Pest and are happy to hear you had an all-around great experience with our team.
We had some work done to our back yard a while back and had some issues after the work was done. The true measure of a great company is how they handle things when they don’t go as planned for the client. I typically don’t expect much from most of the companies in Gainesville. I tend to keep my expectations low around here, but The Masters Lawn & Pest are clearly not the norm in this town. They stepped up in a big way and I will sing their praises to everyone I know. They did great work and showed that they REALLY care that their clients are happy. I couldn't be more happy with this company. Thank you Chuck!
It is so nice to see Kyle when he comes to perform the lawn services. He is very pleasant, friendly and trustworthy. Kyle is always willing to spend time to answer any questions or concerns I may have and give understandable explanations. My lawn always gets great attention and is well maintained! Thank you Master Lawn!
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you for sharing this, Pamela — we truly appreciate it. Kyle will be so glad to hear your kind words. He takes great pride in being approachable, answering questions clearly, and making sure every lawn he services gets the attention it needs. It means a lot to know you feel comfortable and confident with our team. Thanks again for trusting The Master’s Lawn & Pest to keep your lawn looking its best!
We have been using Masters for about 2 years. They have been immensely better than the previous lawn company we had for over 10 years. We have 5 acres and lots of landscaping. The first year we used them was touch and go but since we got a new foreman things have been great! Kendrick has been amazing! We always ask that we get a notice whenever they are coming to service our lawn. Kendrick is the only person who has ever honored that request. He always asks if we have any concerns and if there are any areas that need attention. Whatever concerns or suggestions we have Kendrick and his team are always attentive and take care of them. We are only 2 years into our relationship with Masters Lawn Care and I don’t have any regrets about switching to them.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you for trusting The Master’s Lawn & Pest with your property over the past two years, Rick. We truly appreciate the opportunity to care for your five acres and landscaping. We’re glad to hear things have been going well and that Kendrick’s communication and attention to your concerns have made a positive impact. He’s a valued part of our team, and it means a lot to know his efforts are recognized. Thank you again for making the switch to us — we look forward to continuing to take care of your property.
My wife and I needed some azaleas removed and the ground leveled in order to drive our RV in and out of our backyard. James & Scott arrived promptly this morning and did a great job doing exactly what we needed. Scott was a real pro operating the Ditch Witch and both men were made sure our request was done to our satisfaction. We have been clients of Master’ Lawn Care and today was a good example of why we are pleased with their services.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're delighted to hear that Tremaine and Gabe from Team #16 provided such excellent service pruning your viburnums and ligustrums. We appreciate your recognition of their hard work and attention to detail. We'll make sure to pass on your feedback to them and look forward to serving you again in the future. Thanks again for choosing The Master's Lawn and Pest!
If you want to pay $300 a month for your yard to turn into a weed-infested mess, deal with HOA violations, and spend your weekends doing the work you already paid someone else to do — Master Lawn Care is the perfect company for you. I received a HOA violation notice on early May due to excessive weeds. I immediately called and emailed Master Lawn with a copy of the notice. Their response? A tech named Will stopped by and casually mentioned that the lawn was treated on April 21, but “it looks like your lawn isn't retaining water” and that’s why weeds were appearing. He said they’d apply herbicide during the next visit scheduled for mid-June — more than six weeks after the initial complaint. Meanwhile, my yard kept deteriorating, and by early June, I received a final warning from my HOA because the weeds had spread across the entire yard. Had they acted responsibly in May, this could have easily been avoided. Now I’m the one paying premium rates, fighting with my HOA, cleaning up my yard in the blazing heat, and chasing the company through emails and calls — all while managing a full-time job. Master Lawn Care’s slow response and lack of urgency show they don’t prioritize their customers, even when the customer is actively trying to resolve a problem caused by their negligence. Save yourself the time, money, and stress — look elsewhere for lawn care.

I’m really sorry to read this and completely understand your frustration. After reviewing the situation with our team, it’s clear we dropped the ball—and I want to sincerely apologize for not informing you about the cogon grass weed in advance. Unfortunately, cogon grass is one of very few uncontrollable weeds that is extremely invasive and no product has been developed yet to contain it. Regardless, we should've communicated this to you proactively.

Since your review, our manager Chase has been in touch with you to take ownership of the situation and is working on a solution for your lawn.

We also appreciate your willingness to work with us as we look to reach out to your HOA directly. This isn’t just isolated to your yard, and we’re more than willing to advocate on your behalf and help raise awareness for others in your neighborhood facing similar cogon grass issues.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. While we can't undo what’s happened, we are committed to making it right and helping restore your lawn--and your trust--in us.

Sincerely,
Rusty Thompson
Owner, The Master’s Lawn & Pest
They do not clean up after themselves, sharpen their blades or have any consideration for the customer. The name of this company does not reflect their work ethic.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Thank you for your feedback, and I’m genuinely sorry to hear that this was your experience.

I would truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with you directly to look into how this happened and make it right. Unfortunately, with the anonymous Google username, I have no way of identifying which property this pertains to or which crew was involved. I also searched our recent documented client concerns to see if I could find your information, but couldn't find any complaints about blade sharpening or cleanup.

Please know that we take cleanup and mower blade sharpening seriously—our teams are trained extensively on site cleanliness, and we sharpen all of our mower blades several times a week to ensure quality results in every yard.

I would love the opportunity to make this right for you and coach the team responsible to follow our procedures.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and hope you'll reach out to me personally so I can both address the issue and make things right.

Rusty Thompson
rusty@themasterslawncare.com
Owner, The Master's Lawn & Pest
Unfortunately Google doesn’t allow you to give zero stars because that’s what this company is worth. Stay far away from contracting them. They will tell you everything you want to hear and never fulfill their promises.Accountability starts at the top which I can say there is absolutely none within this company. I have emails addressing my concerns and was told that going forward they will be addressed and followed up on. I can tell you that was the furthest from the truth as the managers did nothing with absolutely no following up. If the managers don’t value the customer then how do you think the workers are going to treat your concerns since they will just follow the managers lack of commitment. There are many landscaping companies out there, do yourself a favor and hire anyone else but Masters!

Howard - We’re genuinely sorry to hear how frustrated and disappointed you are with our St. Augustine/Nocatee team. That’s never the experience we want any of our clients to have, and we take your concerns seriously.

It’s clear we dropped the ball when it came to follow-up and for that, we sincerely apologize. One of our core values is "Own it," and we own the mistakes we made with you. We take full responsibility for not living up to your expectations.

We've reviewed the emails and timeline of your service, and there were items we wish we would have inspected to ensure the service team was resolving issues that we had discussed, but it's clear that didnt happen - leaving you with the impression we don't care about the details you had concerns about, and thats the farthest from the truth.

While this experience has clearly left you with a strong impression, we do appreciate the feedback. It’s how we identify gaps and fix them. We’re using this situation to reinforce internal accountability, especially around follow-up and client communication.

We understand you’ve moved on and may not be open to further conversation — but if you ever are, we’d welcome the opportunity to try to make things right.
Well…where to start… SMH Today being mine and my fiancé’s day off of work we decided to go to lunch at Gators in Gainesville. It’s such a beautiful day we elected to have lunch on the outside patio. Our drinks and appetizer came out…and here came one of their crews with GASOLINE LOUD leaf blowers Literally 3 feet away from where we were eating. They stirred up leaves, dust, AND TRASH all over the outside patio area. There were two more people out on the patio who were in just as much shock as we were. That’s not all, it got worse. They proceeded to stick around this area for the next seven or eight minutes, literally blowing everything in a circle. The dust continuing to circulate on the outside patio area. I could not believe that the manager of this restaurant didn’t get up and come outside and ask them not to do that. So they will be getting a review of their own right after this one. But wait, there is more, once they finally decided to inch away from the dining area, they literally blew leaves and dust all over my car, parked outside. As I’m watching them do it this I was in complete disbelief, lol. Management tip, this is probably an area in which you want to get too early in the morning, so that people trying to enjoy their lunch don’t get dust leaves and trash blowing and circulating all around them. It would probably help if one of the guys who is driving the lawnmower didn’t have a joint hanging out of his mouth. Straighten up, you are better than this. FAIL!!! This concludes my broadcast.

Luke - We’re truly sorry for your experience during your visit to Gators Dockside. That’s not the kind of impression we ever want to leave on guests — whether they’re our direct clients or simply patrons enjoying the space.

Our crews are trained to be mindful of public areas, but in this case, we clearly missed the mark. We’ve since adjusted our service schedule to ensure that all blower and cleanup work around the patio area is completed before the restaurant opens to the public. We understand that timing and professionalism are critical when working in partnership with hospitality businesses, and this was a learning opportunity we’re taking seriously.

Thank you for your honest feedback — even though it was tough to read, it’s the kind of perspective that helps us improve. We’re committed to doing better. We ahve attempted to reach out to you, but would welcome you to call us so we can attempt to make this right. Give our office a call and ask for Rusty to discuss your review and how we can make it right. Thank you for your feedback.
Signed up with them about a year and a half two years ago while they cut the line and clean up for the most part just fine. Their lawn spray service absolutely stinks. Haven’t had so many weeds ever. Guys come in and edge with the weed eater killing the grass near the edge. They leave big clumps of grass when they cut which creates pockets of dead grass our lawn looks the worst it’s ever looked in years. I’ve had the manager out twice you get yes yes a lot of lip service. I’m still waiting for the action. I’ll change my review if my Lawn comes back to life, but until then, this has been our experience.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
We’re so sorry to hear about your experience, and we’d really like to make it right. We tried looking you up in our system but couldn’t find your contact information due to the lack of name on your profile. If you don’t mind giving us a chance to learn more about what’s going on, could you please email us at info@themasterslawncare.com or give us a call at (352) 378-5296? We truly want to help get your lawn back on track and would love the opportunity to do right by our mistake. We hope to hear from you soon so we can strive to make this right. Please reach out so that I can personally work on this for you.

- Rusty Thompson, President
Beware: my HOA has been contracted with them to manage our front lawns and we have the option to pay extra for them to maintain the sides and back yards. Because they know they have a locked in contract with our builder, they really couldn’t care less about our lawns and the damage that they cause. I have reached out to their company to ask questions and express concerns. Got a very vague response with no answers to my questions about what my agreement says they provide. Since no full response, I was hoping maybe my lawn would look better but it’s only getting worse. So bad that my HOA — who picked this company — sent me a notice about my weeds. In my invoice it specifically says that I pay for weed control. Found in my invoice which states what they are *supposed* to be providing, and I can confidently say aside from someone using the riding mower on my lawn (super horribly - sometimes my front lawn is even, sometimes they miss riding over big patches and areas so it’s 1/2 cut and 1/2 uncut) they do not do any of these duties on my front, side or back lawn but I have been paying them for years and months! 43V Landscape Maintenance $59.00 LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM 43 visits per year (Weekly Service Mar-Oct / Bi-weekly service Nov-Feb) The monthly price includes full-service maintenance of your lawn and landscape. Mowing, trimming, weed control, hard and soft edging, shrub trimming, bed definition, plant pruning, leaf control, blowing hard surfaces, and other detail maintenance to keep your landscape attractive. ***they do not fulfill their promises or services. This sounds so great in writing but the grass and weeds are out of control, my flower beds are ruined and they broke one of my sprinklers *** It’s very sad to think this company does such bad business so poorly. Perhaps this review will get me a proper response and some action taken on my lawn, but based on the past experiences I sincerely doubt it. Please use anyone else but this company. Save your money and find a company that cares and is hard working and actually stands by their word and agreements, because this company does not. I cannot continue to keep making excuses for them as they keep collecting my money and ruining my lawn and costing me HOA fines

Thank you so much for your feedback. We truly appreciate your communication and the opportunity to address the issue in your lawn so we could make it right for you.

We sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding between the weeds in the mulch beds instead of the weeds in the turf.
While it’s never easy to hear when we miss the mark, we’re grateful for the chance to make it right and get on the same page. Masters was paid to partially landscape an area of our yard. The plants were stressed when they arrived and went down from there. The operations manager sent an ornamental team out and they were surprised to learn the plants had been planted 6 days ago. Someone else was sent a few days later who agreed the plants looked bad. After more discussion with the operations manager the salesman came out and told me the plants were not healthy when planted and the job should be redone. The operations manager continues to drag this out and states the plants will 'bounce back'. I've had to iniate contact each time. The work was done on August 8th and still no resolution. Never again. Update: Yomi from Masters brought new plants to replace the original ones. Yomi went above and beyond to make everything right. The plants are thriving now. Thank you Yomi and Masters for the resolution.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Debbie,
I sincerely apologize for the experience you've had, and I appreciate you taking the time to discuss it with me over the phone. As we talked about, while the replacement plants had already been scheduled and ordered under our warranty, we failed to communicate that to you, and I understand how frustrating that must have been.

On the 10th, Yomi and Corderro came by to install the replacement Plumbagos, and I’m glad you were happy with the new plants, and for the compliments on Yomi's work. We truly value your business and always stand behind our work. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make things right, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything else we can do for you.

Best regards,
Rusty Thompson
Unreliable and unprofessional. They rarely showed up when they were supposed to, never gave notice that they were coming or not and often did a bad job when they came all at a price much higher than competitors. Some days they would come and decide that nothing needed to be done and would just leave. The manager claims it's because they don't want to cut the yard too short, which is fine, but then they wouldn't do the edging and trimming either. Sometimes they mow the front yard and not the back. They scalped my back lawn and killed about 1/3 of it.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Matthew,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I want to sincerely apologize for the experience you had with our service. We understand that reliability and thoroughness are key, and we’re sorry for dropping the ball in these areas. What you experienced is not in line with our company values, and clearly was not what our team members are taught or encouraged to do. We will be coaching internally to ensure this is not repeated in the future.

After reading your review, our manager, James, quickly went out to meet with you to discuss your concerns. We appreciate you taking the time for this meeting. During the visit, James identified that the issue with your backyard was not scalping but rather a pest problem. He followed up by dispatching a pest control technician quickly to get this resolved. We also sent the maintenance team back with specific notes to get the quality concerns addressed for you.

Some of the challenges you faced with our scheduling were due to weather delays, which impacts us the worst is summer. If our crew is rained out on a Monday, it unfortunately impacts our schedule for the rest of the week, causing shifts even on days when the weather is clear. However, this is not an excuse, and we are actively working on improving our communication to better inform clients about such changes.

We apologize again for your experience and appreciate your feedback, which will help us improve. I trust that your experience with James to try to turn things around was better, and I hope that gave you an open line of communication to voice any other concerns you may have experienced. Thank you for entrusting your lawn to our team, and we sincerely apologize for this experience. I assure you, James and the rest of our team care deeply about making it right, and won't let it happen again.

-Rusty Thompson
I’ve tried working with them for months (well, since end of last year 2023) to improve their service and to at least do the worked they’re CONTRACTED to do. No improvement, no changes. They mow over garbage and spread it all over the property , no weed management so all the shrubs and such are being choked out and dying. IF they trim the hedges it’s only half done, they rarely pick up fallen branches/fronds (I’ve been given confirmation multiple times they should be doing this) leaf and pine debris is built up and unruly. Honestly the property has never looked worse than since they started. Their guys leave trash from their own drinks and food they throw stuff just over the property fence to make someone else deal with it. All around poor service.
Response from The Master's Lawn & Pest
Morganne,
I am deeply sorry to hear about your experience, and I want to assure you that this is not the standard of service we strive to provide. We are genuinely embarrassed that anyone on our team would neglect their duties and leave such a poor impression.

We take your feedback very seriously and are working closely with your community HOA to address these issues. To ensure immediate improvements, we have completely shifted crews and are working to improve communication with your board. I am confident that with fresh faces on the property and a renewed commitment to quality and communication, your experience will significantly improve.

We appreciate your patience and would like to make things right. Please feel free to reach out to our office so that our account manager can personally address any remaining concerns and ensure they are resolved promptly.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and helping us improve.
- Rusty Thompson
This company is a mess. We had them do our initial yard cleanup and they did a decent job, but their monthly maintenance is shoddy and unreliable. We used them for somewhere between one and two years and repeatedly experienced the following issues: It took them over 6 months and 3 separate requests to put us on auto-pay, each time with verbal assurances that it was handled, followed by missed payment calls the following month. We had to ask them not to use pesticide/herbicide multiple times before they complied. They allowed weeds to grow totally unchecked for several months time. And I'm not talking about the unavoidable little plants you see pop up any time you don't use herbicide, I mean whole ground crawlers covering the gardens and sandy areas of our yard. When we complained, even the guy they sent to investigate said it was unacceptable. Using a weed-whacker they severed the roots of several of our plants, killing whole sections of our morning glory vines and other bulb plants. They did something to an avocado tree we’re still mystified by, as it just up and died one day after their visit?? The rain lilies and rose bushes in our back yard are sideways when they leave because they use humongous leaf blowers that are far too strong for anything delicate to stand up against. We tried to keep mulch in our flowerbeds, only for it to be blown away by the bi-weekly leaf-blowers...we had to give up on trying to keep our gardens mulched. Common knowledge about gardening is not employed. For example, one should not cut plants back until the end of winter because any new growth is susceptible to freezing, but they have already clear cut the plants in our front yard, though it's only December... Basically, if you need them to do anything but mow your lawn, you’re going to be severely disappointed. Despite all this, we continued to try to work with them for nearly two years because they're always very pleasant and apologetic, and we understand that miscommunications occur with teams and accidents happen. But our breaking point has been reached with us losing the on-going battle of trying to get them to follow our request of “do not come before noon.” Two of the three people in our house work nights and usually sleep until 2pm, but we know that's late so we asked that they simply not come before noon. But we have had to call and remind them of this four times in the last six months. Speaking with both the workers and the office, each time they would apologize profusely and say they were going to amend their files…then show up early by 1-2 hours again 2-3 weeks later. This is what you can expect working with Master’s Lawn Care: They do the bare minimum on their schedule. If you don't like something about their service, they will alter it for a week or two after you complain, then go back to doing what they want. They are friendly enough people, but do not hire them if you have any special requests for your yard or scheduling because they simply will not work with you.

I sincerely apologize for your experience you have had with my company. I assure you that your feedback, while not fun to read, was helpful and will be taken into our leadership team's meeting this week to go over in detail so that we can improve in these specific areas you've mentioned. I wish you the best of luck with your future lawn service provider and apologize that you were dissatisfied with our service.
-Rusty Thompson, Owner of The Master's Lawn Care
