C. A. Luce Termite Control

We contacted C. A. Luce for a termite inspection on a home while in escrow, based of a recommendation from our friend. Chris was very knowledgeable and thorough and talked to us about his findings. We also went with C. A. Luce for fungus removal and termite fumigation before we moved into our new home. Jennifer and Michelle sent very clear and thorough instructions on how to prepare our home for fumigation and were very friendly every time we spoke on the phone. I hardly ever write a bad review, but I want people to know what happened when we used this company so they can be careful. It all started out great. Chris came out and impressed us and we told him at the time that we had fragile roof tiles that had been put on 5 years ago. We were worried about breakage but we had flying termites inside and were hoping they could do a tent. He said that the fumigators know what they are doing and they approved our tile for the job after we sent them all the details on our tile ( make, color, manufacturer, etc.) We signed a tile insurance agreement. The day of the fumigation when our house was all prepped for the tent---20 large plants moved out, all food, medicine, cosmetics doubled bagged, gas turned off, Junior fumigation cancelled the tent because they said the tile was too fragile and they wouldn't honor any tile insurance contract. We were devastated. We had a motel room booked and were all ready to go. We were held hostage at that point because we had to sign an agreement to cover the roof damage up to $5000 extra for breakage or not have the tenting done the next day. We really couldn't stay in the house that night because the gas was off and it was cold in early January. So we signed it. We had to book an extra night at the hotel and the fumigators broke about 90 tiles. Chris and his people never said they were sorry that this happened or showed any empathy. They just sent us a bill and then no follow-up at all. We even sent them an email saying that we were disappointed that they and the fumigators didn't do their homework and check out the tile in person before the day of tenting. But there was no response from them. In 30 years of selling real estate, I have never seen this happen. They didn't offer to help pay for the extra night or anything or even say they were sorry. Our roofer, who came to fix the tiles, said that the tent people didn't step correctly on the tiles and could have saved a lot by knowing what to do. I see in another review here that the fumigators they use ( Junior) has been criticized before. So be careful and do your homework.

The customer service is awesome and with the good price. They trust the customer, no deposit needed and let the customer pay after the service completes. They don't charge extra when the roof tiles are broken and replaced afterwards. I really recommend their service.

Chris was very good and reasonable. Orkin had told me that in addition to tenting we also had a "subterranean infestation" that they would address to the tune of $4K. Chris searched and determined this to be nonsense, so very pleased with the job and the savings.

I had 3 different companies inspect my residence, which is near the ocean, and C.A. Luce won my business by having the most thorough inspection and the best termite remediation plan for my situation. My 3 story home is only 4 years old, while the attached garage is 24 years old. The infestation that prompted me to get an inspection was in that old garage and I did not want to tent the entire 3 story structure, since the house is only 4 years old. C.A. Luce came up with a local treatment plan for the infested garage that I was very happy with. They also repaired the damaged wood and even repainted the affected areas. They also rescreened all of the air vents in the new 3 story house to help keep out new termites. The other companies were heavily encouraging tenting of the entire 3 story structure, but C.A. Luce listened to me and came up with a plan I was comfortable with. The C.A. Luce team that performed the work was very knowledgeable and professional. Very polite and impressive. The price was very good and I have a one year warranty covering the work. Five stars from me!

Had our house tented -- fantastic service all the way around! We have a very hard house and yard to tent; they walked us through the process, and were very professional and helpful. Everything went off without a hitch. Price was very fair too! I hope not to have to use them again soon ;) but if I ever have to deal with termites again, they are my first call, no question.

What an excellent company to do business with. First off, the front office staff was such a pleasure. Kind and efficient in getting me scheduled for a termite inspection. They were able to get me in sooner than any other company I called. The owner Chris Luce was prompt, professional and understanding. He did a thorough inspection and didn't try to sell me on anything that wasn't needed. Boy do I appreciate that in this day of age. I needed the inspection for a refinance that we were tight on time to complete, they went above and beyond to get the inspection and report done promptly. Can't recommend this company enough.

Tio-notch company to do business with! Preparing for termite tenting is tedious but they made the whole process seamless. Michelle was great and came out on a Saturday to discuss all the paperwork which was fantastic! They put motion sensing cameras inside the house to monitor if there were any bad guys trying to rob the house while we were at the hotel. That was a big comfort!. Just set them totally apart from the other termite companies I interviewed. The company that actually set up the tents was very gentle with our roof and we only had two damaged tiles which they repaired. I have to say it was an excellent experience! And we felt very well taken care of! Thank you!
