Mr. Wheeler,<br>Regarding the rodents being back in your attic – you only contracted us for insulation removal and replacement. We did not even quote exclusion work. It was explicit that you were only interested in our insulation services.<br><br>When you flagged the electrical wiring issues to our team, I personally called you right away to hear more about the issue and assure you that we would cover any damages that were caused by our team. This was the first (and only, to date) time we had been accused of causing electrical wiring damage, so I was curious to learn as much about the situation as possible. I was told that nobody had been in your attic except our team and that your dining room light fixture & outlets stopped working on our third removal day. I was also assured that because you work in real estate development, you ‘had a guy’ that would handle it for you, which I agreed to. Following our call, I asked our team about the situation, and they informed me that you had your electricians doing other electrical work during our insulation removal process (instead of waiting until the removal was completed). We then received the vague 11 hour / $1,600 invoice. When asked about the possibility that the electrician, who was completing electrical work immediately prior to the incident, may have caused the issue instead of our team, you agreed, but still felt we should pay part of the bill since we were also in the attic. You sent us a check for $800 less than your balance due, and made it clear we would have to take legal action if we wanted the full balance (which we did not pursue).<br><br>We offer cellulose, fiberglass, and spray foam insulation. Many rodent control companies only offer cellulose because it best disguises future animal activity – both visually and audibly. Customers’ needs vary, so we offer multiple product types to meet those needs instead of forcing one product on all customers – especially with insulation-only customers who are unconcerned with rodent activity in the attic. You had fiberglass before we replaced it and the competing quote you sent us at the time also recommended fiberglass. Fiberglass has many advantages, which is why ~70% of insulation in newbuilds in fiberglass while only ~10% of insulation is cellulose. <br><br>Regarding pricing, we pride ourselves on being very competitive and transparent in our pricing. We focus ruthlessly on operational efficiency so we can afford to provide customers high quality products installed by experienced and well-trained technicians. The competing quote you shared with us at the time had a lower price because the insulation installation was priced less than the cost of the materials themselves. We showed you the exact material pricing and installation quantities required. This implied the competitor either 1) was not going to use the product they said they would or 2) were not going to install as much as they said they would. While we may not always be the absolute lowest bid, like in this situation, we prioritize the customer’s needs, do exactly what we say we will do, and charge the price necessary to do that.<br><br>- Chisam Reiter | Owner
