Southwest Exterminating

One time, we used Southwest Exterminator to treat our house for ants and they did a top notch job at a reasonable price. So, we thought of them when we needed a termite/carpenter ant inspection at a new house we are remodeling. Unfortunately, the second time around was a pitiful experience. First, the appointment window was between 8-10am. Most businesses give you a call or text when they’re on the way, usually 25-30 minute ETA. Not Southwest Exterminator. I waited around from 9am to 10:15am. Yep, the tech showed up late. Did he apologize for being late? Nope. He also wasn’t in a marked company vehicle. In addition, he was wearing another company’s uniform, Romney Pest Control? Sounds like Southwest Exterminator outsourced our service call? Or maybe they bought out Southwest? Regardless, the tech was slow, hobbled around and inspected the areas of concern. Wrote me a quote for two story house when we only have one story. Then proceeded to tell me the price is the same even if it’s one story?? Then he tried to schedule me for the pest treatment he recommended and when I told him I was going to get another quote to compare he got miffed and said oh well we can’t schedule you until you decide—that’s understandable. However, don’t let your irritation show so glaringly. Then he said he would email me the quote same day (Friday 5-1-26). As of today 5/6/26, I never received his quote. The price quoted wasn’t unreasonable so I’ll give 2 stars. However, from start to finish, this was a very underwhelming experience compared to our first experience . Im glad I listened to me gut and didn’t schedule the service. Phew!

October 30 2025 A very large raccoon invaded my attic home in West Houston. ZEKE is my tech at Southwest. He brought a trap and set it in backyard. That nite he trapped this critter and promptly removed it. Thank you to ZEKE and to the team at Southwest -- I am 20 year customer -- great people.

I used to have Southwest exterminators do my house but they also like to lie I had or can come out to my house gave them $1700 to put some stuff around my house for rodents and Southwest exterminators come out the next day and said there was nothing in the weep poles And I seen Orkin put the stuff in there. So they do lie a lot Nick is very a hard man to deal with. He’s very rude very angry. The secretary has no information every time you call her. It’s just a bad company hardheaded owner. And they will lie to you. I do not recommend them. You’re better off with Orkin and they’re cheaper. If you talk to a manager, they’ll give you some discounts.

Came out right away for suspected termites. Did an inspection and verified - so did another company but they wanted only photos never sent an inspector. Technicians came a couple days later, showed up on time, treated in 2 hours (no tent!), said they's come back if I saw any problems. Decent price.

For their quarterly pest control, I will happily give a 4-5* review however when we had them treat our garage/attic for rats, it was wholly unsatisfactory. They must subcontract out because on the 2-3 occasions I would call and voice concern at the quality of the service, the person on the phone never attempted to remedy the complaint, simply said they guarantee they will send someone out again. The gentleman who came to quote it for us was very knowledgeable and gave a great diagram of where they would provide “exclusions”. After that, the experience was downhill. We were told it would be a visit of about 4 hours and two guys to set traps and secure the house. They were here for barely 2 hours and it amounted to just a little more than spray foam being applied. We had to call to remind them to come get the traps out of the attic because they didn’t return in the 3-5 days they said they would. They “guarantee service” for a year. Any time we called because we saw signs of rats again, they wouldn’t remedy the entry point, just set traps, that again, we had to call for someone to come get. Just sad to say that I feel the nearly $1000 I paid for this service equated to continued rats entering our garage and attic with very little customer service.

I have been with company for several years, the first time ever l call for a service to be redone, as the technician who did the service on 4/6/24, did a poor job, did not spray my lawn, and inside of house l still see bugs so l called to reschedule twice, the first schedule, technician no show no call, the second schedule, technician called, but I missed the call, so l called him right back, no answer, called 2 times, technician did not answer (Garret Martin) even sent text message still did not reply

Wonderful company to work with. We had a problem and they sent 3 trucks to quickly rid the situation. All the employees were super nice and very informative. We have been working with the guys for at least 10 years and they have always been very efficient! I would highly recommend this company.

I have been using Southwest Exterm for over 10 years. Their employees (Reggie) are always professional and show up on time. They even give me a courtesy call the day before service and call half an hour before they get to my house. They gotten critters out of my attic, and also dead mice out of my walls in addition to the regular spraying of my house and yard. I highly recommend them.

I have used SW Exterminating for approximately 5 years. I’ve had the same technician the entire time. Reggie shows up on time and efficiently completes the service. I have never had a problem rescheduling when necessary. I love their guarantee. They will come back between service appointments if necessary.

I have been using Southwest Exterminating since 1996 for my 1939 year-old house in the River Oaks area, and they visit my house quarterly to spray for insects. I recently experienced unwanted pests (roof rats) in my attic, and I wanted the situation taken care of immediately. I called Southwest Exterminating, and they arrived the next morning, found and sealed the opening through which the rats were entering and set traps in the attic, in addition to renedidating the entire house. Not only were they prompt, efficient, thorough and a pleasure work with but also came by to check the traps several times over the next few weeks. Thankfully, my pest problem was completely eradicated. I am very satisfied with their professionalism, and their price is reasonable. I highly recommend their service.

I've had 7 months of dealing with this company and it's been nothing short of a nightmare. The owner is a completely terrible human being that is only concerned with the overall money that is being generated by the work being done but not the over all quality, random work orders a generated for customers they no longer do business with, the reason for services is generically explained, the cost of service is too high, and the frequency of treatment is unrealistic for the level of control wanted. Nick Spillos the owner should actually try to run a company that maintains its equipment, pays its employees a reasonable amount of money and can explain how that breaks down. In turn checks are just given with an explanation. Employees also are not paid unless the customer pays for their service, I'm not sure if that is even legal to be doing in this day and age. Save your money, time, and mental energy and find another company more genuine and more equipped to communicate and provide services for your business or home.

We have been working with this company for a couple of years. We have issues with rats and recently ants. The service person that original spoke to my father on how to get rid of the rats was beyond arrogant. Today, my father contacted Southwest Exterminating and spoke to Wallace, the arrogant employee and Wallace told my father he couldn't get a better exterminator. This is the same attitude Wallace exhibited in the original meeting with my family. Then, Wallace hung up on my 89 year old father. After several visit from this company, we still have an ant infestation. Allegedly, they are coming to give us a "special treatment" for the ants after three failed attempts. I get that situations can be different from home to home. What I just can't work with a company that thinks it is okay treating my elderly parents in such a rude manner. If that is the person this company wants to represent them, RUN!!! It is not worth wasting the energy because clearly, they are the "best exterminator" in town.
