Apparently, this California based company bought our local pest company in Kingsland, A&B Pest, which we were NEVER made aware of through any kind of announcement, and after performing one service NEVER sent us a BILL. They said they called....really....who does that for billing. When we inquired about a text message we received, we were told we had outstanding balance at our Sunrise Beach home and we were confused since we had never contracted with this company for that house. They said must have been an oversight when we canceled our mosquito service at our home address....NO ONE at this office ever mentioned that they had purchased this local company and that was where the billing was originating from on our account. Since speaking to their Austin office, we thought everything was resolved because it was our Austin address and they said that account had a zero balance. They actually TURNED us in to a collection agency for ONE service call which we knew nothing about and considering, we never received any announcement about this acquisition in Kingsland, we believe them to be trespassing on our property anyway. Finally, an full explanation of what happened from the collection agency, which NO ONE at Barefoot Mosquito and Pest EVER offered. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO MY WORST ENEMY! I see you guys were Johnny on the Spot for responding to my review. If you check our account, we were with A&B Pest in Kingsland since 2004 with NO issues in payment whatsoever. I never received notice regarding your company's purchase of A&B and I never received an invoice probably because you mailed it to the service address and we do NOT receive mail there. If anyone at Barefoot had explained the issue the first time we called about it, we would have had the "AH HA" moment and understood, but instead they kept referencing our home address where we knew we had canceled your mosquito spraying service. Additionally, your servicing company DID indeed explain that your technician never went into our house because they didn't know how to get in and didn't have permission, so Barefoot billed me for a service it looks like you didn't perform anyway at my address. They referenced you as a California company with a California license and that was it...nothing connecting you to being a Texas based company.

This company is extremely unprofessional and irresponsible. They are only interested in collecting money, not in providing any effective service. They charged the full amount as promised, but the actual work was completely useless. The equipment they used had no real effect at all and did not solve the problem in any way. It felt like they showed up just to go through the motions, not to deliver real results. In short, this company takes your payment without providing any meaningful or effective service in return. There is no accountability, no real effort, and no outcome. They operate more like a money-collecting machine than a legitimate service provider. I strongly do not recommend this company to anyone. Save your time and money and look elsewhere.

Barefoot was once Fresh Pest Control which is the only reason why they have a 4.9. Read all of the most recent reviews please. We closed our account with them over a year ago because the quality of service went from a 5.0 with Fresh Pest to a 1.0 with Barefoot. Their communication was nonexistent and their services were, as well. Here we are over a year later and they have been harassing us with emails and texts, saying we owe them for services that we never had because we canceled and moved onto another company. We have called them to remind them that we canceled our services a year ago and had already settled any bill we had prior to our cancellation. When they tried to bill us again, we asked to speak to a manager and conveniently, they weren’t available. Now they have a collections agency going after us. You better believe we are disputing it and making sure everyone is aware of their dishonest business practices. Do not use them!!!! ****edit: after reading their response to this review, it shows their lack of thorough customer service. There was no balance or services rendered, hence the review. We are being harassed for money NOT owed. So if you want to be charged for services you will not receive and then never get customer service or any kind of response, call Barefoot!

The response below is a testament to how poorly your customer service is handled. Instead of taking responsibility and reaching out for a solution you pass responsibility. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. PERFECT EXAMPLE….Do you want to be a customer dealing with this??? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY BILL YOU FOR SERVICE NOT RENDERED AND WILL NOT CORRECT. If I could give negative stars they would get the max. Worst customer service ever! We canceled the service over a year ago when they bought out the smaller private owned company we were using. The company billed us for service not received. We informed them on 3 different occasions to please correct the bill. We were told it would be taken care of… Fast forward 1.5 years later when we received a notice for the “past due bill”. We called customer service to speak with the manager who handles the billing and after several attempts from the rep to try and not get us to him we finally got transferred to get accidentally hung up on 3 times. After much persistence we finally spoke with Jermaine “The Manager” who basically sad not his problem call collections. I asked for his direct supervisor information and he refused to give Ilya the information saying he was the highest person in the company. After asking again he hung up on us and would not answer the phone. This is the worst representation of customer service I have ever experienced. If you need pest control you should do everything in your power to run as fast as you can from the Austin location! Absolutely worst experience ever!

We did a 3 application trial with Barefoot and the first couple of applications didn't help much since it rained immediately after. On the third application the tech came while it was raining. I asked him to come back since it didn't make sense to pay for an application that would immediately wash away. When I spoke with a customer rep I asked that we just be credited for the application since it wasn't doing anything to keep away the mosquitos. Fast forward to a year later Barefoot sent me to collections instead of answering any of my emails about the outstanding 'bill'. I would not recommend doing business with this company. Edit in response- That was not our experience.

Barefoot Mosquito & Pest Control- too corporate and not customer service focused. Their main ammo is to buy out as many local companies as possible and don't think it is necessary to notify customers of any changes or acquisitions and then just assume that the new customers will just want to use them. NOPE! Trust me, there are much better extermination companies out there that do a way better job for pest control, cost less, and still value their customer relationships. But, if having random people in unmarked vehicles come onto your property unannounced, service it without your prior approval and then send you to a collection agency for service you didn't agree to is your jam, then use them! After viewing your response, I'd like to add to this review, that the company's answer simply is not true. We never received a letter about any "merger" , nor a phone call or email. My husband I were both there when we confronted the worker we can both verify that the vehicle that pulled into our driveway did NOT have Barefoot Mosquito wrapped on it nor displayed anywhere on the truck. It in fact had a company's decal neither of us had ever heard of. The service provider was also not wearing a shirt or name tag identifying themselves as Barefoot Mosquito. Our account was closed as soon as I found out what had happened. The provider never entered our home because we asked him to leave since we never approved the service. And yet, instead of calling us first to ask us to pay a bill, or send a bill or email a bill, you sent us to a collection agency. Please post what my cancellation reason was- I'm curious what the person wrote down when I called corporate offices back in June to report this- the day the person showed up and was sent away! I did call your office yesterday, in fact, when I received the letter from the collection agency and I was told it's too late, there was nothing they could do because you had already sent it to collections- even though we NEVER received a bill! I'd be glad to clear this up- as soon as you tell the collection agency that you didn't mean to send us to them.

We had them spray for spiders. There has been no improvement in the problem for 6 weeks. They will not take my calls or return messages.

The service is reasonable and the technicians very respectful. However contacting the company and billing has been a nightmare! They have been inconsistent even though I set up direct debit. I am cancelling service….if I can get through to the front desk

Extremely disappointed with this company’s service and professionalism. I called them for an ant problem in my kitchen—especially concerning since I have two small babies in the house. A technician came on Tuesday, stayed for just a few minutes, and did a superficial treatment. By the very next day, my kitchen counter was once again covered in ants. It was as if nothing had been done. I called on Wednesday to report the issue and was told the earliest they could send someone was the following Tuesday. I explained the urgency of the situation, but the woman on the phone had no real response. She promised to escalate the issue to her manager and said I’d get a call back the next day. No one called. I left a voicemail. No one responded. I followed up again on Friday—only to be treated as if I were calling for the first time. When I asked what actions had been taken since my initial call on Wednesday, the representative fell silent and said, “Mmm… I can’t respond to that.” Completely unacceptable. The customer service is non-responsive, the technicians are not professional, and the company seems disorganized and indifferent. I absolutely do not recommend this service—especially if you have children and need prompt, effective pest control.

I’ve been a customer of Barefoot Mosquito and Pest Control for over a year, and I can confidently say it’s been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a service company. Their communication is absolutely abysmal—getting a straight answer or a timely response is like pulling teeth. Emails go unanswered, phone calls are rarely returned, and when you do get someone on the line, they seem clueless about what’s going on with your account or service. The quality of their pest control is a complete gamble. Half the time, it feels like they’re spraying water instead of pesticide because the mosquitoes and pests come back stronger than ever within days. Other times, it’s like they douse the entire yard with a chemical bomb, killing every insect, good or bad, and leaving my plants and grass looking wilted and sad. There’s no consistency, and it’s clear they don’t take the time to assess the property properly. The technicians are another major issue. They’re lazy and rush through the job in about five minutes, barely covering half the yard. I’ve watched them skip entire sections of my property, focusing only on the easiest spots to spray before bolting back to their truck. It’s obvious they’re just checking a box rather than providing thorough service. I’ve even caught them sitting in their truck on their phones instead of finishing the job properly. To top it all off, the company seems to be in constant chaos with management changes. Every few months, it feels like there’s a new person in charge, and no one knows what’s going on. I’ve had to re-explain my issues multiple times because records aren’t kept properly, and it’s impossible to build any kind of trust with a company that’s this disorganized. Save your money and look elsewhere for pest control. Barefoot Mosquito and Pest Control is unreliable, unprofessional, and a complete waste of time.
