I am a new customer of Leapfrog for lawn services as of Oct. I have been so impressed with the quality of their work, the quick responses to questions, and the knowledge and professionalism of their staff. They just cleared the weeds from our plant beds and put out mulch. They did an excellent job taking care of tender new plant growth that I wanted to protect while getting rid of weeds and holly suckers. The mulched areas look fantastic. I am so happy with their service and staff. I very highly recommend them!

Leapfrog is the best. We had water runoff issues over the last couple of years that I could not solve myself. Leapfrog came up with a great solution at a very reasonable price. Since then, we have no issues. Yesterday, they came to the house and mulched our front and side beds and natural areas. Everything pops out. I highly recommend them for all your needs.

Recently had Leap Frog give me an estimate for lawn care & treating all trees/shrubs. Plus fix my paver patio. John is extremely knowledgeable arborist, providing excellent advice & treatment plan as prior years we’ve had issues with beetles/aphids. They fixed my paver patio as stones shifted over the years and needed new sand. They re-leveled some of the stones, power washed, & put in new paver sand in all joints. The paver patio looks brand new. They did excellent work, reasonable pricing, were timely and provide great customer service. Highly recommended Leap Frog Landscaping. Had Leapfrog come out to do mulching & pruning recently, Matt & George did a fantastic job. Great coverage on mulching & pine straw plus really nice pruning & beautiful job cleaning up. Looks great! And reasonable pricing. Thanks Leapfrog Landscaping! 5 stars!

We have been using Leapfrog for about 5 years and are always pleased with the results. We have a large yard with lots of plants and shrubs. We get shredded mulch in some areas. In others I have them mulch the shrubs and put pine straw over the top so there is a lot of detail work. Not only do they work hard to do a good job, but they are also cheerful and friendly.

Leapfrog Landcare is our family's go-to for all lawn care services! We have been using Leapfrog for about 1.5 years now and have been incredibly pleased with all their services. From regular lawn care maintenance to special treatments to mulch to seeding, Leapfrog has always gone above and beyond to deliver high quality services. I was particularly inspired to do a review today after new mulch was installed on 1/6/26. This is the second time we have used Leapfrog for our mulch needs, and we have not been disappointed! The crew's attention to detail, making sure each mulch bay was edged appropriately and filled properly, did not go unnoticed. (The clean-up was also much appreciated!) We cannot recommend Leapfrog enough.

Nigel and Matt were so knowledgeable and careful planting my maple tree. They managed it all in record time… carefully staking the tree and advising me about Providing daily water! They were courteous, on time, and I will request them again to plant the rest of my garden. Thank you, leapfrog!!

Edit to reply: No, it’s the correct company. You did a large project($13k) for us a few years ago. To say you have no record of it is misleading or you are confused. I’ve wanted to post this review almost every day for the last 3 years and kept saying it’s not worth my time. As I have to walk past it daily, I guess I’m finally upset enough to do it. We trusted Leapfrog to fully landscape multiple large areas of our yard. This included clearing out existing bushes and weeds, preparing beds for new plantings, installing their suggested plants and finally mulching all of it. Plus a stone covered drainage ditch. We met with them multiple times to discuss the plan and they crafted a seemingly wonderful design. It was overpriced(call it Cary pricing) but they worked with us on the budget dropping from $19k to $13k, strangely without adjusting the plan at all. Very much appreciated and so we executed the contract. Maybe the price adjustment reflected the future quality of service. Clearing and install seemed to go well. As with any landscaping project, it mostly looked great from the start albeit with a few issues, some of which we didn’t realize at the time. Plant spacing and location was questionable on a few items but trusting the experts to do what they do best. More on that later. Mulch is normally 2-3 inches to prevent weed growth and retain moisture. Ours was wildly inconsistent and sparse which quickly led to lots of weeds and poor plant growth. I installed another 20yards of mulch myself to make up for it. We followed Leapfrog’s recommended watering procedure for over a year. As the plantings started to grow, we were excited for them to mature into the look we hoped to achieve. Then we started to realize the problems. 1) We requested rows of trees to provide privacy from our neighbors. It was discussed heavily about the need to block views into our backyard due to its unique nature. 5 years later and the recommended emerald arborvitae don’t block anything. Seems like the wrong plant choice by Leapfrog. 2) We requested a tiered look for the front facade that requires minimal maintenance. The design had three rows of plants. At the time of install, we questioned which plants were supposed to be in each row and were assured that everything matched the plan. After two years, it was abundantly clear that either the plan was incorrect or they were installed incorrectly. We have a row of loropetalum up front that completely covers the two rows behind it even with regular trimming. There is a dwarf Japanese maple that is being swallowed up by some other loropetalum. We’re about to rip out all of these purple bushes due to Leapfrog’s mistake. 3) Multiple(6) dwarf gardenias were planted directly underneath two existing medium trees. We were assured this is ok and they’d thrive there. All except for one struggled to grow at all, maybe in competition with the trees, maybe poor sunlight. Again, we’re not experts and asked for low maintenance. Another poor decision by Leapfrog. 4) We have a side yard where one of rows of arborvitae was planted and it abuts the drainage ditch mentioned. This side yard has been the bane of my existence. From crepe Myrtle shoots to grass to every type of weed you can imagine, this side yard has seen it. The improper clearing/tilling, poor area prep for drainage, wrong tree choice all led to a disaster and extremely high maintenance item. When discussing the rock covered drainage ditch, we knew weeds could be an issue. We were told the best possible option is putting the rocks on top of the existing ditch as they would block the sunlight. No geotextile, no digging out, no spraying. Another mistake we eventually learned. The side yard and ditch are the biggest headache we deal with from spring to fall. There’s more but Google cutting it short. Bottom line: Communication was excellent. Very friendly and responsive. Happy to have supported a local small business. But a lack of expertise and rough implementation have proven this to be a poor investment in the long run. Photos incoming.

Edit response:

Hey Allen,

I apologize for overlooking your account while searching in the system. It appears we misspelled 'Allen,' which is why we couldn’t locate your account.

We’re truly sorry to hear that you’ve been unhappy with your landscaping experience and that these concerns have weighed on you for so long. Our goal is always to create beautiful, lasting landscapes that our clients can enjoy for years to come.

Your project was completed on March 19, 2020, and we returned on June 12, 2020, to stake trees, followed by June 25, 2020, to replace a struggling plant. Throughout this time, we did not receive any complaints regarding the installation. In March 2021, Mrs. Davis even reached out for another estimate, at which point no concerns were mentioned. We had not heard from you again until this review. Had we been made aware of any issues sooner, we would have gladly returned to assess the landscape, address any concerns, and provide recommendations.

Following your feedback, we recently revisited the property and observed that the Loropetalum appear healthy and are pruned into a nice hedge. I used this company in the past and really appreciated the environmental friendly. I quit using them around a year ago and this was around my lawn getting worse and continuing to gain in number of weeds. I have switched to another lawn care company and have been very pleased that I have a green lawn vs a patchy weedy yard

Response from Leapfrog Landcare

Jeff, we are happy to hear that you have reached your goals for your lawn that we could not match when we last spoke August 2022. We acknowledge that the organic based route may not be for everyone, and sometimes more chemically heavy treatments are needed. We wish you the best moving forward.

I used this company for 2 years. Several things they must work on: skipping cutting grass (longer gaps between cuts) which then left longer clippings. which way to shoot the clippings when cutting. of course you will think it would be away from the mulch and bed areas, away from AC units, fencing. Constant emails with photos of their poor jobs (they did fix some things when told). They do a very poor job keeping Bedding areas clean. Grass and weeds growing consistently through out the year. They would allow the weeds/grass on beds to grow very tall then kill it but never pull them off. Same with grass areas with weeds and other things on the outer perimeter of the property. To make things worse, I send an email asking what is their cancellation process (in order to provide proper notice), they went ahead and terminated service immediately no questions asked. Basically making it clear that they can careless. They did provide me with partial refund.
