We live in a subdivision in the woods and have terrible mosquito issues. We've been with Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan for several years and are so happy with them. We are able to enjoy our backyard and sit on our deck without mosquitos. Rarely do I even see a mosquito now.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Charisse, we can't thank you enough for such an incredible review! We're thrilled that you've been a part of the MoJo family for several years, and that we've been able to help you live your best mosquito-bite-free life. We're happy to help you keep on enjoying your deck and backyard!
The Mosquito Joe Team

I have a locked fence with pool and had a note to call ahead a day so I can unlock the fence for the service to be performed. The tech would call and say they were 15 minutes out to perform service. I work 30 miles a way and cannot just come home to unlock the gate. After a year of this I decide to go else where because they could not get this right.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Dave, we want to begin by saying thank you for being with us for a year of service. We would like to continue our services to you and are concerned that you didn't receive our notifications. We always send an email the night prior to our treatments, and because of your specific circumstances, we would also call and leave a voicemail the night before. We are sorry to lose you as a customer and regret that our communication didn't reach you as expected.
The Mosquito Joe Team

Waste of money. Rude unprofessional office staff. Buy some off mosquito spray it works just as well.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

David, our aim is to offer the best customer service in our line of business, and we're sorry you experienced anything less than that. We are concerned that there may have been a misunderstanding with our operations, and we want to take a moment to clarify our services. We are a perpetual service, and unless we receive a cancellation request, we continue our treatments annually. After beginning to treat your property this year, a balance accrued on your account. When you requested a discount on the services already rendered, we explained that we weren't able to do that, but we could offer you a discount on future services once the outstanding balance was paid. We apologize if we came across as anything other than respectful and professional. We were unaware that you were dissatisfied with our services since we had not received any negative feedback prior to reading your review. We are always willing to make things right, and we hope our explanation helped dispel some of your frustration.
The Mosquito Joe Team

We live by the woods next to a creek. The mosquitos were so bad last year and ate my children alive. This year I had our yard sprayed and I literally saw one mosquito this year. One! The next day was our next scheduled application. I will forever have my yard sprayed to be able to enjoy our outdoor space.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Thank you for such great feedback, Rachel! This is what it’s all about! No one wants their children to be eaten alive in their own backyard. We are happy to hear that we’ve been able to prevent that and that you have been so satisfied with your service. We look forward to keeping your playtime itch-free in the future!
The Mosquito Joe Team

A technician was using a backpack leaf blower to spray pesticide in a neighbors yard. The tech had a respirator on and when i asked what he was spraying he said "he would stop" i called the company and the manager Hayden acted as if i was lying. He told me i had covid is probably why i was feeling nauseous and sick right after their technician sprayed while i was outside next door. I asked for the products they used and all i was given as a response is "its approved by the state and corporate to use" this person should not be in any sort of management position if this is how they address issues when their products harm people. My throat swelled up, my vocal chords where irritated to a degree of changing my voice. I have shortness of breath. But apparently the business doesnt care because they stand behind some entity telling them theyre allowed to poison people. So it seems google doesnt allow any responses to these obvious crooked businesses.. no your company has not reached out to me. I reached out to them. I had to call another location that day because you closed at 4pm. I had to call MDARD which is the government body who oversees your types of companies for me to even find out what chemicals i inhaled as your company did not want to provide me with said information. The person who interacted with me was very ignorant of the situation and claims since they themselves sprayed chemicals without a respirator i must be lying about what happened.. so no youre not going to act like your company was so professional when the person i spoke with was not helpful. They said i might have covid instead of taking the situation serious. Just like a business to screw up and try to play the PR game acting like they didnt do anything wrong. So if the products you use arent harmful why did your technician stop spraying? Was wind measurments taken before the spraying started? Im sure the product manufacturers of whatever you use specifically say dont spray above 15 mph for the pesticide chemicals. I looked up recorded wind speed for monday july 11 2022 in northville.. it was over the 15mph limit. Youre trying to argue since the government allows you to spray toxic chemicals under certain circumstances means youre allowed to whenever or however you please. Including a leaf blower where you cannot control the chemicals once they leave the blower end. Your company is a joke and only people who dont know basic science would hire you. If its killing bugs its harming people. Its that simple. And again i found out the chemical make up of the product from the government body i spoke with. Not your company. And that was 5 days later. Obviously you dont care what harm was done to me during those few days. As your reply doesnt address any of that except for "we are allowed to poison people and animals because the government said we could" is all i got from your company as answers just like now.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

It's disappointing to see your review, as you are not a customer of ours and do not receive our services. We understand that you reached out about this, and we informed you that we would look into this situation and also attempted to provide you with details about our service. We have spoken with our technician, and when you were outside painting a neighboring home of our client and questioned our technician about his work, he stopped the treatment right away to provide you with some peace of mind. Our product is approved for use around people and pets, and our team of licensed professionals treats in very specific ways to attack the small insects we are targeting on our customers’ properties only. We tried to further explain our processes and alleviate your concerns but, unfortunately, you did not allow us the opportunity to do so. We're always willing to address any issues and welcome the opportunity to educate others on what we do, but we're unable to help if we can't have a dialogue. If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I had a graduation party 7/10/21, I called the company 2 weeks in advance to get an event spray. I called 3 days prior, just as a reminder. I was assured my event would be covered. Well guess who didn’t show AT ALL!! Mosquito Joe had been servicing my property for 2 year. Well no more, just lost a customer and anyone else I can tell. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE TOO!

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Hello Arlana, we wanted to respond and share our regret and let you know we are truly sorry that this occurred. We've been grateful to service your property for the last two years, and it's disappointing that this issue caused your cancellation. We know how important it was for you to have coverage for your graduation party, and an error occurred in our system that caused your event to not show up in the technician's route for the day. Unfortunately, technical issues out of our control such as this sometimes happen with the system that Mosquito Joe uses, and we apologize that this caused us to not be able to service your property in time. If you should change your mind about your regular treatment, please let us know, and we would be happy to continue to help you enjoy your yard the way that you deserve to. Thank you for your time, Arlana, and we wish you the very best.
The Mosquito Joe Team

TLDR: They didn't call or show for a month despite assuring me they'd be over when I would call for an update. Their policy is to contact when they are coming but not when they aren't coming. An employee showed up June 23rd, after the first review was left, and she applied the treatment. It has been just shy of 3 weeks and were having mosquitos and peoplebeing bitten..I am going with a new company and will be asking for a refund not a reapplication given all the issues I've had with the service and my lack of faith in the successful and timely treatment of my yard. Oroginal: After finding ticks on my dog twice, I signed up for Mosquito Joe's services with the additional flea and tick treatment. I told the rep that I was wanting the area treated asap as my dog was bitten by a tick and I had just found another tick on her, when I signed up. That was literally a month ago. They STILL have not been out yet and I don't know when or if they will be out as I plan on canceling them and find another provider. We have called multiple times and been told different time frames (early next week, late next week, Monday or tuesday, and Saturday). Saturday was the last time frame they gave us but nothing. Not once have they contacted us to say they wouldn't be coming to our home despite telling us were on for Saturday or Monday or Tuesday. The reasons given have been from rain, which in fairness, we have had some but not that much, to staffing issues because of Covid. I understand they contact usually when they are coming but seeming as this has been a repeated issue for a month, they should have at least said, our schedule is canceled this week or whatever.... Nope. I can be patient and understanding about staffing issues or even rain but what I don't get is why not let me know you're not going to be providing me a service at all when I've been signed up for it for a month. Reading other reviews these aren't new issues for this outfit and since that's the case, why are they signing up customers they cannot service? This isn't the way to get or keep a customer and I am proof of that. I would never recommend a business that fails to call or show up a customer and does so for a month. Silly me for sticking around that long. No thank you. Their mosquito and outdoor pest treatments may work, I cannot say either way. They have to show up first and they fail to even do that. I will warn the neighbors that were waiting to see the success we had with this, to steer clear of this company and anyone else looking for this type of service. Update 7/11/21: They did send someone out to treat my yard. The employee was kind, professional and patient with me as I attempted to make contact with the office and declined service until I was able to speak to someone. They did they treatment and left. Fast forward and here we are a couple weeks later (not anywhere near a month) and my room mate has killed several mosquitos and was bitten last night by 2. What a waste of money and time. I'll be calling on Monday to request a refund, I'm going going with another company. While I didn't think they'd be able to erratically them all, I expected to not have my room mate telling me he's being attacked when he goes outside. Edited to add TDLR and add an update 07/11/21.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Hello Laura, we truly apologize that we haven't been able to get started, and we appreciate your understanding regarding the staffing issues and the disruptive weather we've been having. These have put us behind schedule, unfortunately, especially with the rain and how that influences the effectiveness of the treatment. We've fully intended to keep our appointments with you, but these obstacles have caused the delay. We realize the urgency involved in treating your yard and making sure your dog is protected from ticks, and we wanted to share that we've been able to add some new staff to help with the workload. Our technicians typically will call our customers who are on their scheduled route to let them know that their service has been cancelled that day and that they've been rescheduled, and we apologize if our call was missed or you did not receive one. We would be grateful to still have the opportunity to help you deal with those pests and bring you the relief you're looking for, and if you change your mind, please let us know, and we'll be happy to offer our services.
The Mosquito Joe Team

Despite many positive reviews online of this company and their services, my experience was very different. I've initially wanted to try only their one time application prior to a family event in our backyard, and since then they've automatically enrolled me in a season long plan which I did not agree or sign-up for. Even when I requested their one time application, I specifically requested it to be just one time application. Few weeks later, a technician called before coming or they showed up on my door, I specifically told the technicians that I did not sign-up for the season plan, therefore to cancel my plans going forward. The technicians acknowledged and told me that they would inform the office. I assumed this was taken care of until 2 weeks ago when Katie from customer service office called to inform me that I have a remaining balance of $236 for 4 applications that I did not request and rejected at the time, and also mentioned that she confirmed with all the technicians that I did not reject any of their services. I was appalled and disagreed that I cannot be responsible for any services that I did not sign-up for nor services that I've received, or mistakes that the office made to dispatch technicians after I repeatedly rejected them all. Then Katie called again last week to inform me that the reason she thinks I'm not paying is probably because I was furloughed like many people during this pandemic, and that I don't have the money to pay... I've never heard of such blasphemous and insulting comment from any customer service rep in any industry. Even if it was true, that is not for a customer service rep to comment out loud over the phone, never the least even offer some assistance or payment plans. It is a disgrace how this company trains (or none at all) their service reps insult their customers. Based on this poor quality of customer service and their system errors and cunning tactics to collect money from first time customers, I do not recommend this company to anyone!! UPDATE - Customer service rep just sent me invoices through email for the 4 applications that I never signed-up for and rejected. It is incredible to see how they think their cunning tactics can be justified by simply sending out fallacious invoices/statements via email... I hope all new customers are well warned.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Hello Chang Sung, we wanted to take a moment to respond and have the chance to address the concerns that you shared in your review. Regarding the cancellation of your services, we hadn't received any phone calls or emails stating that you had wanted to cancel further treatments. While you did say that you turned away the technicians and informed them that you'd like to cancel, we did not have any reports that you had wanted to discontinue, and our technicians are very thorough in alerting our office to any changes made with a customer's service. We are in constant communication throughout the day with our technicians and handle any rescheduling or cancellation notices on a daily basis, and unfortunately, we hadn't received any notice regarding your account. When speaking to you on the phone after this happened, our intention in our remark was to comment on how this is a difficult season for many right now, and we understand that it may be difficult to make payments, and we apologize if this was received in the wrong manner. Thank you for your time, Chang Sung, and we wish you the best.
The Mosquito Joe Team

Update to my recent review. After asking for my service to be cancelled permanently and to not contact me again, I just received a phone call letting me know that someone was planning to come and spray again this coming Monday after I just received an unwanted/unwarranted treatment less than 2 weeks ago. I understand that sales may have been affected by COVID-19 but this is over the top, & an unethical means to try and grab some extra cash before temperatures drop significantly and mosquito season is officially over. I don’t have a balance, never have. Please don’t contact me again.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Hi Desmond, we are sorry for the inconvenience that took place, and wanted to address the concerns that you shared. The reasoning behind our perpetual service is to maintain a consistent treatment of mosquitoes which results in the most effective outcome in dealing with pests. Prepaid customers are made aware of this at the beginning of service, but we were unaware that you had wanted to cancel service at the end of your prepaid period. We surely would cancel upon request, so we apologize if there was a miscommunication on our part, but we had not been made aware of your wish to cancel until recently. We understand wanting to end your service as we prepare to head into cold temperatures, but we remain active for our customers through the end of mosquito season. We will make sure your service is considered canceled, and we thank you for taking the time to read our explanation.
The Mosquito Joe Team

This company put a scam on us. We are outraged by the way the technicians kept coming to treat around the house when we clearly told them that we weren't on the season service. We did not receive any invoice after our 1st initial trial, and we told them to check with their office before coming again. Today, we received a call from the office saying we have to pay $260 dollars, which we never received any invoice via paper or email. Either the technicians and the office are having communication problems, or their system is not working well. Overall, we are truly appalled by the way the office is handling this situation.

My advice to consumers is to keep track of how many applications you have paid for and received. Their business model is perpetual, so it’s up to you the customer to know when your final pre-paid service was completed or else they will continue to provide service through the month of September and send you a bill. What’s the purpose of prepaying? I would expect to receive a call asking if I’d like to continue service through the month of September after my pre-paid services have been completed. Instead I received an email & call reminding me of my upcoming application and received a bill after the fact. When I called to inquire about this I was referred to a long email that I received in June where is states at the bottom that the services are perpetual. Of course the computer system doesn’t allow them to enter a stop date. It’s up to you to mark it in your calendar and contact them to discontinue services after you receive the services you’ve pre-paid for. The pesticides work but a perpetual model for prepaying customers seems shady.

Unfortunately I do not have anything good to report. My first service never happened after taking off work and keeping live stock locked up waiting for them to show up. Tech never showed and when I called I was told well he was supposed to be there but I guess he changed his route, they can do what ever they want he will be there by 9 pm!! What?? My time frame was 10 am - 1 pm. I cancelled - cant deal with that kind of customer service. I am sure as with their other negative reviews they will have an excuse. No excuses! Make it up to your customers if you want them.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Hello Ray, we apologize for this inconvenience. We hate that you aren't experiencing the service that you hoped for from us. Our team has had to make adjustments due to the pandemic and staffing changes and unfortunately, this season has looked a lot different than those in the past. In gratitude for your patience with us, we would love to come out and treat your property free of charge for one application this summer. We will reach out to see if you are interested, or please feel free to give us a call at (248)-507-4014 so that we can help. Thank you for reaching out!
The Mosquito Joe Team

Unfortunately this review is for the customer service provided to me on 6/17/19. Candy, the manger, with whom I spoke at the Southeast MI location, ended up yelling and hanging up on me. I had asked that they not send out another technician today after they sprayed the wrong solution on our property. She told me she would make sure they did not come back. Fast forward to about 15 min later and the tech is in my yard spraying again. When I walked out to ask why he was here and told him Candy had said she told him not to come back to spray, he said he never received that message. He said the last he heard from her it was to come back and spray. I then called their office again to try and figure out what had happened. When Candy got on the phone, she would not let me speak, kept talking over me and basically said her tech was lying, she had told him not to come, but that now since he did come, even though we did not want him to come back and as the customer had been assured that he was not coming back, we would still be charged. She just kept talking, not allowing me to speak and then when I did say that no, actually everything was NOT ok as she kept trying to indicate, she hung up on me. Needless to say, we will not be using them again. I will be calling corporate in Virginia and make sure that they are able to hear the way I as a customer was treated. We had been happy with them last season and their other employees with whom I spoke with were great last year. Clearly they need someone new there this season. Candy cost them a customer and I will be sure to pass that on to all of our friends and family. Plenty of other places to go. We already have Proof Pest Control set up to finish out our season. How sad. It would have just taken Candy actually listening to the customer and trying to do what is right. They messed up, their communication broke down and now I am supposed to be charged for it? What happened to just being a good human?

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Dear Kim, we're sorry that you weren't pleased. We work hard to provide excellent service for our clients and we apologize that you didn't feel this was the case with your treatment. When we realized that your special instructions directed our tech to use all natural spray on the play equipment, we sent him back right away in hopes this would help. We hate to hear that due to this this mistake you lost your trust in MoJo! We value feedback and appreciate that you shared yours. If we can have the chance to change your mind about our service, please call us and we'd be happy to help!
The Mosquito Joe Team

Must be in need of business... Apparently telling them you don't want service means, come back when you're not home and spray. They sprayed one time last year and apparently i'm signed up for life unless I provide some formal written cancellation. I told the tech I need to look into services and will get back them. Two weeks later they show up and my wife tells them we got sprayed the day before, "It wasn't us" they say, then go ahead and spray and expect me to pay for it. After speaking to the manager to explain, it only made it worse. The most pushy, insulting service person I've ever met. Would not let me finish a sentence and continually raised her voice to escalate the matter. To top if off, she threatened sending it to a collections agency. BBB is being notified of the shady business practices.

Response from Mosquito Joe of Southeast Michigan

Hello Nader,
Our records reflect that you paused services last Fall but did not cancel our services. We sent our pre-season emails in March and April informing our customers that services would begin in May, and another email in May advising that services were beginning. We received no response from any of these emails. We emailed you the day before coming to treat your yard and upon our technician’s arrival, you indicated that you wanted to speak with our office staff about pricing, so he did not spray. We left two voicemails that week but heard nothing back and because no cancellation was made, we came to spray in June, texting and emailing before coming over, which is our standard protocol. Your wife was home and we completed treatment. When you called in after receiving your invoice, our staff attempted to explain that we treated your yard because no cancellation had been made by you. Upon being berated, screamed at, and called names, our team felt it was best to put the conversation on hold until it could be continued calmly. We have canceled your service, however, payment is still owed for the treatment we supplied when you were still a customer.
Thank you,
The Mosquito Joe Team
