They took on the job when many other companies wouldn't because of the tall height of my home. I had a racoon issue and a large hole in the soffit of my roof. Trapped a couple racoons and patched up the entry way. They had good communication and were efficient.

After noticing squirrels entering my attic through the roof, I contacted Shumaker for help. They gave honest and quick recommendations to deal with the issue. They quickly came out, captured squirrels, and closed all openings. They also came back out to check to ensure the squirrels were not re-entering. They were reasonably priced. I highly recommend!

Worst company we ever dealt with there timing and communication were that of a third world company the workers were rude they lied about need dying they hooked up as bacume to suck a few bees up and that was it no follow up or anything NOW WE HAVE TO CALL A DIFFRENT COMPANY and will not return calls either ...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN....

Trapping young healthy Foxes at Brightwood is repulsive. Just born this year. This is absolutely cruel and inhumane.

I would recommend these guys to anyone having a critter issue! We realized we had a squirrel chew a hole in our soffit and it was trying to make its way into our attic. When I called, the gentleman was extremely helpful and told me they could have someone out the next morning! They walked us through the process, showed us pictures of the traps they would use, and came back periodically to check! Once they were sure we had caught our critter, they patched the hole. Hoping I won’t have to call them back, but won’t think twice should the need ever arise!

This company was recommended to me by a trusted friend who said that he was satisfied. I cannot attest to the work that they do because I never received a call back. I can, however, speak on the horrible customer service I received. I initially called, and the guy who answered the phone never gave his name. He was very short and quite dismissive. When I told him my problem, he asked, "Well where do you live and how many stories is your house above ground?" He asked as if he were annoyed that I even called. I told him. He said, "We charge $525 to come to you." Then he told me to call back and leave a message and that he would get back to me. I thought, I was already on the phone, so why would I need to call back? I did call back, though, but never received a call back from him - or anyone else. I don't know if everyone who works for this company is as nasty as the person I initially spoke to, but I can definitely say it was a huge deterrent for me. It doesn't matter how good your work might be (again, I will never know), if you treat potential customers this disrespectfully, then the work you do doesn't matter at all. If I could give zero stars, I would based on the way I was treated as a potential customer. Customer service is key!

Had a great experience with Shumakers Animal Control. they were able to come out to my home right away and remove a black snake in my basement. they were knowledgeable and courteous during the visit. the price was also in line with other quotes I received in the area. Would definitely use their service again.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I contacted Shumakers after the bats had migrated so I could block them from my shutters for next year. During that phone call, they could have explained that this may not be possible, depends on the type of shutters. They said they could help with this & said they were available the following day. When they arrived, I was told I must pay $295 which could be used toward the repair & then after the inspection, was told the job would take a half day & would be completed that week. I never received a call back. When I called Shumakers the next week, I was told the shutters could not be adapted the way the employee had explained. Do not patronize this company! There are many others who care about their customers.

If I could give -5 stars I would. These folks are money hungry. Told us they would not pick up a cat that our neighbors left behind to die in a fire nonetheless. Cat was in an empty house two months without food or water until the rental office cleared the house out. Called these folks and told them the situation on the cat but they said not coming out unless they are paid 425. What kind of heartless animal business is this. Highly do not recommend these people. They even rudely hung up in our face. Pretty much told us on the phone is not their cat they don’t care 🤦‍♀️

If I could give 0 stars I would!! Never hired for their services and NEVER will! One of their drivers nearly caused a multiple car accident in York Pa and didn't even care! Sped through a parking lot.. blew stop signs and then cut in front of a car at a stop sign only to blow the stop sign and cut off oncoming traffic! I don't know what his freakin hurry was but whatever the reason it's not worth my family lives! Do better when hiring your staff! How many complaints do you need to get about your unsafe drivers to do something??!! They are dangerous and a hazard to the road!

The men that own/work at this business are awful business owners. The brothers do nothing but talk trash about the other ones. I have a squirrel issue in my attic and of course made the mistake of trusting them to take care of it. They made sure to take my 500$ right up front before assessing the issue. They said I had holes in my attic that needed to be patched and that they would wait until the squirrels were gone and remove the nest and take care of the Holes. That day came and it took them two weeks to even come out to supposedly fix the holes. They never removed the nest and I had to continuously call to get them to remove it. According to their website and to my receipt they have a 10 year guarantee so the minute I heard the squirrel again I made the phone call. And of course they tell me there is nothing they can do because the squirrels are coming from our neighbors house. Even though the noise is opposite of their house. They wouldn’t even come out and look. My suggestion use a different company.

Late on a Friday evening, we heard a loud scratching sound coming from an old, unused metal chimney capped off in our living room. It was disconcerting, to say the least. After calling around, Shumaker’s was the first company willing to come out over the weekend despite the rain. First thing Saturday morning, we got a call, help was on the way, and the trapped bird was removed, alive and well. The guy who came out - sorry, we didn’t get your name because we didn’t have coffee yet! - was careful with the little bird and is taking him to a rescue. Before leaving, he inspected our roof and chimney to make sure there were no other issues. We were very thankful and relieved for such prompt, friendly service, and we would definitely call Shumaker’s again. But hopefully we won’t have to!

* do not use the company, while they gave me an exact price to investigate, remove and fix the issue as to why animals were in our attic, they did not follow through with everything. 2 weeks ago, one squirrel was removed from our attic, but since disappeared. I was told 2 days after the squirrel was removed that someone came the next day to put a one way trap on the roof. Both my wife and I were up waiting on a window company to install new windows in our home and know for a fact no one was on our roof. That was the last contact that was made from them to us. I waited because I know with snow on the roof, it’s not safe to go on a roof, and after contacting them yesterday, I found out our account was closed out as finished. No one put a one way trap on our roof or fixed the reason they got in the attic in the first place (picture proof). Now conveniently both people that came to my house are off today and I won’t hear anything else until tomorrow. Please do your research instead of just jumping on the first company that gives you a price.

I had a bat enter my unfinished basement through a small opening from the roof. I contacted this company because they had 24 hour service. They did send some one out the same day. He examined the roof and attic and found bat droppings and the entry where they were coming in. The exterminator was such a fast talker who appeared to be very knowledgeable. He gave me a quote of 33k to set up a trap and seal off the entry as well as a 10 year garentee. I gave him half of the payment and he was to return that evening with materials to start the work. By 8 pm he had not returned and I immediately canceled the check. I called the owner to inform him of the problem and he was rude and tried to out talk me. I ended the conversation and thanked GOD I canceled the check immediately. Got another quote from a company that was far less expensive, got the job done and was very professional. Dave was absolutely AMAZING! I kept hearing a scratching noise in my basement and I didn’t know what it was and there was no way I was going to check. Apparently, black birds were attempting to build a nest in my dryer vents. He not only removed the birds safely, he put a cover on my dryer vent so no future birds will be able to enter. I was beyond apprehensive about someone coming into my home due to the Covid. He respected my boundaries and stayed a safe distance allowing me to open and close doors. I would highly recommend him if you need someone professional and responsive, as I called many companies prior and was stunned how many did not return phone calls, or answer the phone during business hours. I am very picky and difficult to please. If I say he did a phenomenal job, he did a phenomenal job.

I have worked with this company on 3 occasions. The last experience I had was horrible as they did not finish the work and blamed it on wood that they said was rotting. They left the work and told me to get the wood fixed. The problem was actually my neighbor and this is disturbing because they were also doing work on that neighbors home and they neglected to find 2 holes on her house. Also, they became so frustrated with the situation on my house, that they left the traps on my house for over 3 days and a squirrel died on my roof. I could have dealt with these failures, but the owner of the company was rude, calling me "sweetheart," telling me that he would come out to offer assistance as long as I gave him 24 hours notice, then when I gave him 2 days notice that the company was coming to complete the wood work his response was "my schedule doesn't work around you" (in fact, I was giving him more than 48 hours notice). I understand that catching animals can be a challenge, but to be demeaning and to lack empathy is concerning for me. I've been working with them since 2011, but now, 9 years later, I will never use them again.

I could not be more pleased with the response we got from Shumaker's Animal control. We had a squirrel loose in our house and Shumaker's was the only company willing to come out and help us over the weekend. We called 8 other companies and all told us we had to wait until Tuesday because it was a holiday weekend. Dave was at our house within 2 hours and set humane traps. The squirrel was caught within a few hours and Dave returned to remove it from our house. The next day he even called back to make sure we didn't hear any more noises and to ensure our satisfaction with the job he had done. I will not hesitate to call him again for any other animal problems we encounter. HIGHLY recommend Shumaker's Animal Control!

My wife and I had a Groundhog living under our deck in our brand new house. It wasn't a huge problem, but our dogs were trying very hard to make it one. We called Shumaker's Animal Control and spoke directly to the owner. He was out the same day a set 2 humane traps in our yard. It wasn't 4 hours and the chubby guy was caught. I called to let them know it was trapped and they waisted no time retrieving the traps. The groundhog was relocated on a huge property in Baltimore County, this made my wife and I feel much better the way this guy was handled. They were fast and affordable and I would certainly recommend these folks! Good peeps!!

My wife, daughter and grandchildren were home when my cats alerted us to something in the fireplace. When my wife checked with a flashlight she noticed a bat hanging onto the screen between the screen and glass door. I called at least 10 companies but many did not even answer and the ones that did I had to leave a message. David Shumaker was the only one who called back and he did so within minutes of me leaving the message. I told him what my wife had found. He told me he would come out and remove the bat and cap the fireplace at a cost of $475. He was at the house within 30 minutes! He not only removed the bat my wife had seen but also removed more than 50 others who had established a colony in the chimney. His partner (Kyle) capped the chimney and he humanely released the bat he had captured. I cannot express enough how grateful and pleased we were/are with the service we received. Dave and Kyle were professional, knowledgeable and competent! I would not hesitate to contact him again and highly recommend his company.

I'm not one to judge others experiences or opinions, but I must say I did not have anywhere near the experience that some of these negative reviews had. Quite the opposite really. Shumaker's first did work for us last year removing, humanely by the way, an entire COLONY of bats from our attic. Tom came by caulked the whole roof, eve, fascia board area while allowing the bats to "evict" themselves. He was awesome to deal with; prompt, professional and good at what he does. Fast forward a year later and the bats returned. I called Shumaker's and believe I spoke with the owner David, he too, was professional and said they'd be out the next morning to check it out. Unfortunately they did not come at the time they said, so I called. This is where they really started to earn even more respect from me, he said "That's my fault I totally forgot, I'm sorry." Things happen, people forget. I genuinely appreciated the honesty and the next morning Zachary was out to confirm the bats were back. Not more than two hours later Tom showed up to start the process of getting them out again, COMPLETELY honoring the warranty. Who knows how they got back in there, again things happen. I'm not concerned with the HOW the bats got back in but WHAT Shumaker's would do. These folks have been aces and the example of how to do business. I highly recommend them to anyone needing help with wildlife invasion issues.

Everything started well with Shumaker's Animal Control. I had squirrels in my attic so I contacted them at the main number. They came out right away. The guys who came out were real friendly and appear to know what they are talking about. They closed up all holes and placed an excluder on a the final entry point so that the squirrels can go out and have no way back in. A few days later they came back to remove the excluder and close up the hole. Great Service so far. I contacted them a few days later because I was still hearing noises in the attic. I set a squirrel trap in my attic and the bait was eaten without setting off the trap, so I can confirm that I still have critters in my attic. I contact Shumaker's again and was told that someone will be around the following day. I took off work and nobody showed. I contacted Shumaker's main line and was told that Tom will call me back, nothing. I had Tom's number so I contacted him multiple times throughout the day and left messages on his phone (which says he will get back within 20 minutes) but nothing. I continued to contacted the main line and continued to get someone saying he will get with Tom and he will call me back. I didn't want to piss them off because I paid $695 and wanted service, I know pissing them off would only make problems. For the next two weeks I would contact the main line and leave messages on Tom's phone, Never once did Tom call back. To make a long story short... I contacted the main line and had a more detailed conversation with the same guy(but not Tom). He was very rude at this point and stated that I was told that I may have mice(which I was never told previously). When I mentioned that Tom has not contacted me a single time, either at his request, and also at my request, with all the voicemails...He said that "That's not important." He did say that someone will be contacting me before 8AM tomorrow. Fast Forward to Tomorrow...I receive a call from Zach, at 10AM or so. He tells me that they caught two squirrel, and that is all they catch as part of my contract. (I never seen them catch a single squirrel, they just left an excluder on the house which lets the squirrel out but doesn't catch them). They are just not willing to do anything further for the $695 that I paid. About the noise I was still hearing... he said he already told me I have mice in addition to the squirrels, which is a complete lie because if he told me that, wouldn't he have given me an option for removing them??? That was never presented to me because he never told me I had mice. In the end, My neighbors also contacted a wildlife removal company and since we all share walls (townhouse), it may have (hopefully) resolved my issue. They used a company called TrapPro, who showed up at least 4 or 5 times that week. They were very friendly and worked closely with the owners who they were supporting and also myself and another neighbor. He said he can't resolve his clients issue without working with us. He was very nice and helpful. In conclusion. Shumaker's may be knowledgeable but they are going to nickel and dime you. Please, do yourself a favor and use TrapPro or any other Animal/Pest Control company. Also. my contract says I have a 10 year guarantee on any returning critters, but I was told that my contract is complete after the 2 squirrel maximum (they never caught one). Steve from TrapPro charges under $400 without a guarantee for returning critters, but gets rid of them completely and seals up your house. Thanks for listening, I am posting this because Shumaker's Animal Control is a shady company, I lost my $695 and I don't want they same thing to happen to anyone else.
