Update: I originally planned to have them come back a month or so after the exclusion job just to check everything out, but I have heard NO noise at all from the squirrels. Entirely squirrel-free! The estimate/cost was much lower than other quotes I received as well. As expected, the conversation was very pleasant when I called the company just to follow up with Verron about not needing a check-up visit after all due to the excellent work. No more tree rats in my attic! I returned home from seeing family over the holidays and noticed that I had squirrels move into my attic while I was away. After reading reviews and checking with other local businesses in regards to pricing, I gave Southern Wildlife a call as well and spoke with Verron about the pesky rodents. She explained in great detail how the process worked, pricing, and also offered exclusion services WITHOUT pressuring me. She was very transparent about why those services are recommended as well. Overall I am VERY pleased with the services. Highly recommend this friendly and efficient family owned business if you're in need of fair pricing and honest work!!

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

Great service! I live in Alpharetta, GA, and Southern Wildlife was knowledgeable, honest, and easy to work with. They took the time to explain what was really needed and didn’t try to sell unnecessary services. I appreciated their straightforward approach and would definitely recommend them. Just an after thought. They said they would research some sources for an issue I have had in the past and they followed up as promised. That is rare these days!

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

Thanks Mya, we always try to do onto others as we want done to ourselves. Thanks for taking the time to share your feelings. We will see you soon.

They came out and took some pictures of where there were critter activities, which were helpful, but they then proceeded to set traps for a few days and catch nothing. They then quoted me $1800 for exclusion, but wouldn't provide time or materials in the quote, just arbitrary numbers based on "difficulty". Mind you I had to pay $400 for the "trapping" that would go towards the exclusion, which seems to be the main part of their business (not trapping/removal). {Original Response Left in-tact} Edit regarding the response: I just wanted to re-iterate that if you charge full price to attempt to trap squirrels for a week, actually trapping something goes a long way towards the customer experience. I'd recommend that if you fail to actually trap something, maybe a discount is in order. It really just felt like a bait-and-switch for the exclusion service. $400 is not "low cost" for many people, but most of us don't know that trapping does very little to deal with a squirrel infestation without exclusion until the service has already started. Meanwhile, your advertising is specifically focused on the trapping/relocating aspect, which is basically useless until you spend $1500+ on exclusion, which is misleading at best. I hope the money we gave you all went to the gentleman that came to perform the service, as he was awesome. I genuinely hope you are successful in your business endeavors, and that it brings you satisfaction and happiness. Just know that it does actually impact those on the other side of the transactions that couldn't afford to buy Christmas presents or fully afford their mortgage payment for the month when charged $400 for pictures and an attempted trapping endeavor that led to nothing. {Second Response Left in-tact} Edit for the second response: I'm not sure how you can say there were no squirrels to remove. There absolutely were and still are. I hear them every day in and around my attic/roof including when your employee was here. Second, yes, you charged for a service and provided that service, but where I take issue is the fact that you're willing to perform these services in the first place knowing that it won't do anything without exclusion afterward, but don't make that clear to the customer until after the trapping service has occurred and been charged/paid for. At this point they've already paid the $400+ and will feel obligated to move on to the exclusion or risk the critters coming back (which they absolutely will) and their money being wasted. Not only that, but you also don't even guarantee that you'll catch anything. I've never heard of an exterminator that will charge you to simply show up and lay traps but not actually catch or remove anything, which is what happened in our case, and is the whole reason for this review. Finally, while we paid for the trapping service, it *feels* like we paid $400+ for pictures/investigation with no results (even though this isn't literally what happened). This meant we could either move on to further trapping/exclusion or be out the money we paid, which is the option we took because we couldn't afford the $1800. This *feels* like a bait and switch whether or not it actually is, which is, in-fact, what I said in my original post. Please try to understand what happened from our perspective instead of blaming all your customers that have a bad experience.

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

Ryan, I want to clarify a few important points, because your edited review leaves out CRITICAL DETAILS of what actually occurred.

You did not “pay $400 for pictures.” You paid for a one-week trapping program that included 5 daily visits for trap checks, adjustments and a thorough inspection and measure to provide you with an estimate to seal the home. On 9/29 we inspected the home and set traps. On the first trap check, nothing was caught. On 10/1, nothing was caught and no activity was heard. On 10/2, the bait was still untouched and no activity was heard. During that week, our technician set the suspected entry point in a way that made it obvious if a squirrel came in or out. We use this method when we suspect the animal may not currently be active. The result was zero confirmed activity — meaning there was nothing to trap. We cannot trap an animal that is not there.

Regarding exclusion: trapping and exclusion are two separate services for a reason. Trapping removes animals that are currently inside. Exclusion prevents future animals from getting inside. The reason we do not seal without attempting to trap and relocate the critters is that the ones that think they are entitled to your home will tenaciously continue to try to get inside. They have absolutely gone to the extent of chewing a hole in the center of a wall in the past. That is why we are diligent about attempting to remove the culprits and take them out of the equation. You were given an exclusion estimate because there were exterior entry vulnerabilities observed — not because we failed to trap anything. If no animals are actively using the openings, the correct and ethical approach is still to recommend exclusion before damage or reinfestation occurs.

The $1,800 quote was based on the physical reality of your home — access points, roof height, pitch, ladder requirements, and the number of areas needing reinforcement. Wildlife exclusion is not billed hourly because the risk, safety requirements, and access difficulty vary wildly from home to home. That is standard practice across the industry.

We GENUINELY APPRECIATE your kind words about Bruce. He is one of the partners in our family-owned business, and we agree — he is awesome. He is very thorough, passionate about what we do and as determined to keep the squirrels out as they are to get in.

We understand that unexpected expenses are frustrating. But it is not accurate or fair to frame properly performed wildlife control services (inspection & trapping) as a “bait-and-switch.” No one was misled, no unnecessary work was done, and no animals were present to remove based upon sign & reported activity.

We wish you the best moving forward.

Bruce came out to our home on two occasions. The first was for a large hornets nest and the second was for several underground yellow jacket nests. Their pricing was very fair. I appreciate their honest business practices and professionalism.

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

Thanks Steve. I think you won the 2025 Award for the most amount of Yellowjacket hives removed at one time. Yikes! We appreciate your kind words. We will see you in the spring - I'm sure.

I live in Dawsonville and highly recommend Southern Wildlife Management. Elliot came out for pest control and, unlike our last exterminator who was in and out in about five minutes, he took the time to really listen to our needs and concerns and explained how he will adjust his game plan for us— and that is something I truly respect. He was very knowledgeable and clearly had our family’s best interest in mind.

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

Thanks Felicia, Elliot dos a great job with our pest control. We try our best to customize our services to address the property’s needs and the customer’s wishes. We are always here for you.

Quote for price between $850 and $1,200. Then send me a $2,200 bill after their trapper come for the third trip without catching anything. Totally unethical business practice. I called on Dec 29th 2025 for quote, received the invoice on Jan 6th 2026. Then immediately called the lady to question the bill. I asked the lady to cancel the service and pay the trips already happened. She sent me the adjusted invoice still for $1,100 for 3 trips. One of the 3 trips was only stop by the gate because the trapper could not get in the community gate. The lady then threaten legal actions to the customer and want to put a lien on customer's property.

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

All of our calls are recorded for situations like this.

During our original conversation, I clearly explained that beaver trapping is a two-week job, priced at $850–$1,250 per week. To avoid any confusion, I explicitly stated that this meant $850–$1,250 per week for two weeks, and I literally repeated the weekly price MULTIPLIED by two.

An invoice was sent reflecting this exact scope of work. Several days passed, and the invoice remained unpaid. We collect the same day we set traps. Today, you contacted us claiming that the $2,200 invoice was incorrect. I explained that this amount represented $1,100 per week for two weeks, exactly as discussed during the initial call. (Less than the high side of of the range)

During our final call, you accused our company of “scamming you” and demanded that we remove the traps. In response, I provided you with the original recorded call.

The recording confirmed that I stated the pricing clearly and exactly as described above, and that your claim regarding the pricing was incorrect. Despite you hearing the recording, an inaccurate review was still posted afterward.

We pulled the traps at your insistence on the 3rd visit. Technically the very first trap check because the trapper drove from Dawsonville to Duluth and was advised by the gate that they were closing the gate early for the holiday (we would not have had time to do the work) and not allowed in the next day (holiday) the gate said all of the Residents were notified so told you that we had to count that as one of the trips.

I hope anyone reading this review considers both sides when forming an opinion. Transparency matters to us. This is heartbreaking to have someone leave a review just to cause damage.

I contacted Southern wild life to assist me with removing squirrels in my attic and providing a quote for sealing the house. Rick came the first day and placed some traps around the house and let me know I would have a quote the next day once he measured everything. The following few days Bruce came over and I believe on the third visit I asked about the quote. He said he didn’t know it wasn’t measured and would provide me with one soon. After the service was completed, and yes they included a 5th visit “free of charge” and placed traps inside my attic, I continued to hear the squirrels in my attic. I was told that there is no guarantee for the service and the only way was to proceed with sealing the house. The cost for me was $425. The quote provided was very general and almost 2k. I asked for pictures of problem areas and a description of problem areas specific to my house and I was told they don’t provide this service. I mentioned I had received a different quote from another company and pointed the reason for my request being transparency. I was told that “it sounds like you feel more comfortable moving forward with the other company”. I don’t appreciate being told how I feel and it felt very much like there was no interesse in providing me services for sealing from the beginning. They offered me a 5 year warranty free of further charge with their quote hence why I was still interested. They did catch 4 squirrels with the trap, and again it did not help at all. Everyone specially Rick and Bruce was very cordial when coming to my house, and letting me know ahead of time when they would arrive every day, however the last email from Verron felt very wrong to me. Not good communication.

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

Aline, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for allowing us the opportunity to assist with your squirrel issue. We appreciate your kind words about Rick and Bruce and are glad we could successfully trap and remove four squirrels as part of the initial squirrel trapping service.

Our process—used consistently for more than 15 years—always begins with trapping to identify the active entry points and confirm activity before we provide a sealing (exclusion) estimate. This ensures accuracy and avoids unnecessary or speculative work. While we understand that some companies include photos in their estimates, our proposals focus on detailed line items, which has proven to be a reliable and efficient method for our clients.

Regarding the email you mentioned, my intent was never to assume how you felt but rather to respectfully acknowledge that you had received another estimate and were comparing approaches. We did everything we committed to do for you, including multiple visits and an additional follow-up at no charge. My response was meant to be a graceful and diplomatic way of explaining that we couldn’t match the other company’s photo-based estimate. I never intended to offend you. I simply wanted to convey that I respect your preference for their approach, even though we believe our process remains transparent and effective.

We honestly wish you the very best moving forward and hope your squirrel issue is resolved permanently.
We paid $500 for ground mole trapping. Days after the final service we noticed new activity but there isn’t any sort of warranty or follow up offered. They were friendly but my review is more for the service to value. Buy your own traps and poison worms…you’ll save hundreds. We just received our own supplies in the mail to continue the work the $500 didn’t finish.

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

Chelsy, I am very disappointed by this review. You hired us to provide Mole Trapping & Baiting program which consists of 4 visits spread out over 3 weeks. We caught MULTIPLE moles during your service and even provided an EXTRA 5th visit FREE of charge. When we finished, there was no (zero) mole activity in your yard.

In spite of your family not following our simple instructions, we were still successful at trapping and resolving the problem.

Mole trapping would never come with a warranty — new activity days or weeks later simply means a different mole has moved in from a neighboring yard, not that our work was unfinished.

We did the job we were hired to do, and leaving a negative review despite that is unfair and unjustified. It’s no different than hiring someone to wash your car, then a week later it gets dirty again and expecting it to be covered under warranty.

Wonderful company with great people! Came quickly after I discovered that I had a yellow jacket nest by the tree that was just cut down. The tree company couldn’t grind the stump due to being attacked by the yellow jackets. Bruce did a wonderful job discovering where the nest was and removing the bees without using any chemicals. Since I have someone in the house with Parkinson’s and Cancer I was very thankful for the nontoxic approach. As well, their prices are very fair. Totally satisfied!

Met my expectations by capturing 7 chipmunks and a squirrel even relocated to their property. Here are my concerns: Was not happy with communication with Techs was unaware of my end date and was surprised when all traps were taken. Suggest either text message or phone mail msg confirming last day of services. Was not happy with sarcastic communication with Ms. Vernon regarding my texting techs at end of day informing them of the animals trapped and being accused of romping around the traps when I clearly saw the cage was closed and an animal was inside. Also be aware how to open and close traps as we had a bird caught and upon release were informed we broke the trap. I feel $350 was a lot of money for this process especially when you can purchase the traps from Ace Hardware for $19.99 put honey, peanut butter and some corn and relocate the critters to the woods yourself. This was a learning experience for me. In my 30 years as a business professional I’ve learned the customer is always right and should be treated with respect not condemned for honest feedback.

They caught the raccoon in my neighborhood the third day they put the trapping cage. BUT the 2nd day, a new raccoon in coming into the same attic. They would charge the another fee. We searched other methods online and found a simple solution. Just light up your attic light (I put another light) and put a radio there. The 2nd raccoon ran away and never came back.

Response from Southern Wildlife Management

Hi. I don't know why you changed it from a 5 star to a 3 star. As you know we were hired just several houses down to trap and we also caught a raccoon from their property. We did exactly what you hired us to do which was one week of trapping. As for the light, I assure you that is not what kept the raccoon away. IF it was not the same one we already removed, it could have been just checking out your attic as a back-up den site and hasn't needed it yet. This is what raccoons do.
