Natural Choice Lawn & Tree Care

Very poor scheduling service. Does not show up for scheduled treatments even after several communication attempts and promises. Suggest looking else where if you desire reliable service. Additionally, previous home owner of my home used this company for several years so very disappointing that they allowed this to happen when I reached out to them to continue their service. Makes you question if they really wanted to provide their services.

We used Natural Choice Lawn Care for lawn services last summer. Our most important requirement, which I mentioned repeatedly to Derek, the owner, is that pesticides are forbidden on our property. We have a meadow that Pollinators enjoy and do not want risk causing them harm. However, one day Natural Choice Lawn Care applied pesticides to the lawn - which we know because they put up a “pesticides applied” sign. When I called the owner, he would not discuss or acknowledge the issue, or even apologize!

I agreed to a one-time tick service at the beginning of the season and never scheduled any additional treatments because I found out they were charging more than double what other local companies charge for the same service. Apparently that didn't matter, because they signed me up for more services anyway. I didn't find out until they showed up at my house and had already started the work. When I called to question it, Derek told me they don't give customers a heads-up before visits and that their technician had explained multiple visits would be included during the first service. The problem is the technician never spoke to me at all. He did the work and left. The receipt from that visit even says, "If interested in lawn care, let office know," which I never did. Getting signed up for services you never requested and then billed for them is not okay. Based on my experience, I'd look elsewhere.

This team did an exceptional job creating a beautiful, lush lawn after another company literally ruined it. I would recommend National Choice without reservation.

I was very impressed with our initial phone call. As a novice, I wasn't able to articulate my questions properly, and I sincerely appreciate the expertise and personal attention provided to address my specific needs. Can't wait to work with them!

Due to my own neglect my lawn was mostly dead and full of weeds. With in 3 months Natural Choice had my lawn beginning to look the way it used to. Natural Choice communications is top notch and their invoices left at the time of service are extremely detailed as to what was done. I would highly recommend their services. Unfortunately I don’t have a before pick but I have attached a photo from today which is just 3 months of service so far

Derek and his crew know how to get the job done. My yard was a mess, loaded with invasive bent grass and violets. Previous lawn guy had no clue about what to do. Found Lawn Choice on the internet and a few weeks later I had a great looking lawn. I highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed.

Derek was very helpful and straight up with pricing and services offered. Ross made a thorough site visit and gave an estimate on the spot. I like the concept of a more natural way to care for our lawn

The owner is aggressive and rude if you don’t communicate with him on his schedule. He’s operating as of its 1970. Do not work with this person. There are better options.

This is a lawn and tree/shrub care company that has educated technicians that will evaluate and treat your yard in a natural and beneficial way. Additionally they offer safer alternatives to all offered treatments Finally... They offer pruning, grass seeding fertilizations and plain expert advice. To me that stands superior. My lawn looks like a carpet. And my shrubs thrive. Thank you natural choice.

Derek is a no-nonsense businessman who takes his work as serious as one can. I am very pleased with his company's integrity, value, and results. I took some time to educate myself about lawn care and by following Derek's instructions, I got very satisfactory results. Cut high! Sharp blades!

We have been struggling with crabgrass taking over our lawn for a few years. Tried two different companies and many services to address weeds and bald areas but saw no improvement. Natural Choice came in this season and took over our lawn treatments and got rid of the weeds and recommended “slice seeding” to regrow grass. We have a beautiful lawn for the first time in 5 years. The owner always answers the phone when you call and he knows who you are and what’s going on with your property and treatments. They have been a pleasure to work with and I only wish I had found them sooner.

Very professional especially Ben Derek the owner and Nick they never blow you off they're wonderful at what they do I recommend this place to all.

I have had a tremendous experience with Natural Choice Lawn & Tree Care. Derek and the staff have been extremely responsive and considerate each year. They are very knowledgeable about lawn care and they are always willing to answer my questions about different services, what was truly needed for my lawn, etc. High quality, efficacious products are used for all treatments. I received excellent results for seeding, weed control, and fertilizing.

I used their snow removal service for only a few weeks and somehow racked up $800 on my statement. They came up multiple times when the snow was maybe 2” and did not need to be serviced at all and the charge was $150 each time. They are also extremely unprofessional on the phone. I called to see if I can pay my statement by credit card over the phone, because they don’t provide you a prepaid envelope to mail your check in and it was just inconvenient since I didn’t have an envelope and stamp on hand. I got a very rude response back from a man named Derek. Apparently they’ll take a credit card as long as you’re pre-paying for an entire upcoming season but not paying an existing balance. That’s just one example of the hoops they try to make you jump through and how unpleasant this has been. Every interaction I had with a member of their team, they acted like they were begrudgingly doing me a favor instead of me just hiring them for a service. I would absolutely not recommend this service and have since closed my account with them.

Used this company for seeding. The seeds were just thrown on top of the dirt and washed away after the first rain. When the company was notified of the issue, Derek refused to send someone out to look at it. Work was poor and cost was high. If you consider using this company think again and go elsewhere.

I've used Natural Choice Lawn & Tree Care for my seeding and feeding needs for more than six years. I find them to be very responsive and informative as well as committed to providing great service. My results have been outstanding year in and year out regarding the fullness and health of my lawn.

I would not recommend using this company. They were nice enough when they came out for the estimate and they came recommended to me. I was told that I would be billed a certain amount for each visit, for a total of seven visits. When I was reviewing the service with the owner I found out that they had done double treatments on certain days so I actually owe them quite a bit of money. I should have been told "your treatments will be $xxx and we may do more that one treatment per visits" however, that is not how it was sold to me. I was told "this is your price $xxx, it will be the same price for every visit, we are planning on seven visits. When I spoke to the owner about my concern, he was not concerned at all and stated that I " must have misunderstood". In my career, I am a sales manager in charge of the entire Northeast, if I misunderstood it is because they did not "check for understanding". Very disappointed in their service. I would find someone else, anyone else, to service my lawn.

Every problem totally resolved ! I have used other companies only to be disappointed Derrick and his lawn technicians address and resolve all issues to give you a truly beautifull lawn!!!

They reseeded my front and back lawn last October . The front is beautiful . Part of the back is not so great I believe it is because a large tree is changing the topography of my lawn . Too much standing water. I am very satisfied with the work. Just recommended them to two friends.

I have nothing but good things to say about Derek and the people who work for him. When I called him two years ago my lawn had huge bare spots that were getting worse and despite numerous calls the last company could not properly diagnosis what was wrong. I called Natural Choice and when they came out immediately knew what was killing it and started treatment right away. It's been two years now and my lawn is almost completely restored with the grass growing back thicker each year. I have found Derek easy to work with and have been nothing but pleased with the service provided. Each time they come to the house they leave written details of the condition of the lawn, what they found, and best next steps.

Natural Choice has tended our yard since we moved to Connecticut in 2016. Everyone on the office and field staffs are highly knowledgeable, and willing to patiently and thoroughly answer questions about the conditions of our trees, bushes, and grass. They also stick to using low impact, plant-derived solutions in their treatment plans. In their case "natural" means natural, green, environmentally safe. This makes them an exception in an industry where those terms are used loosely in branding. Also, unlike some other reviewers, I've never had a problem with Derek (or anyone else from the firm). He's always gone the extra mile to make sure we are fully informed of the treatments they're using, the likely outcomes, possible downsides, and what we can do as property owners to help ensure a successful outcome, e.g. watering. I suppose it's possible some people find that abrasive, or something, but to me it's helpful and professional. I highly recommend this company.

Answered all the questions I had about both lawn & shrubs...very knowledgeable! They were able to get weeds under control which, over the last 10 years, 3 different companies couldn't. Also using their Tick Controls and our 2 dogs have been tick free.

DO NOT USE NATURAL CHOICE LAWN!!! I used this company for lawn service for 1 season. In the early fall Natural Choice was going to reseed some areas. A service person came out to provide a quote. At that time tech explained in detail the issue with the trouble areas and what needed to be done. The tech and the owner Derek claimed to be 'experts with over 30+ years experience.' A few areas needed to have the top soil completely removed, replaced and reseed. After the work was completed I called Derek (owner) with some questions and concerns. The areas clearly had not been cleared as discussed. I requested a meeting with Derek to review the trouble areas. When I spoke with Derek and explained my concerns he refused a meeting to view the trouble areas. Within minutes of questioning the work Derek EXPLODED and began to SCREAM. He continued to SCREAM that it would all be fine if I watered. The bill was questioned and Derek immediately THREATENED a law suite. I have NEVER dealt with such an unprofessional company. Needless to say paid the bill to get them to go AWAY and uphold my part of the agreement. I have attached photos of the work immediately upon completion (fall 2016) and current (spring 2017); you can judge yourself. 100% Agree with Cindy's statement below. "every single turn he was argumentative, never showed appreciation for my business etc. i have more but will keep it at that. i agree with Jack above, do not use these guys! "

natural choice fertilized my yard with out my authorization about 5 years ago , When I called to question the bill they told me that I had a verbal agreement with them from the previous season and did not cancel it. I told them many times to produce any document describing our arrangement and I would be happy to pay. 5+ years later they continue to send bills with late fees attached. At this point I feel that this is harrassment and will forward the bills to my Attorney
