Norcal Rodent Proofing

NorCal Rodent Proofing did some work for us about 6 years ago to remediate a failed pest control service by one of those Attic (fill in the blank) companies that only kept the rats out for about a year and a half. (That company conveniently was out of business or changed its name, so useless warranty). NorCal did a good job and we were rat-free for six years, but last week we heard some noise in the attic so we called them back for an inspection. Our 60 year old home with two additions and an added attached breezeway and garage is a challenge, no doubt! At today’s appointment Paul and Larry kept in good communication for arrival time, Conscientiously and thoroughly checked previous work and repaired any areas of potential ingress points in the attic, on the roof and perimeter of the house. I’m very satisfied with their work ethic and their commitment for great follow up to double check that no re-infestation occurs. (They’ve been in business for many years so their warranty means something also; vs those fly by night companies.) I’d give them 6 stars if that was possible. Great service! Highly recommend!

I had a rodent problem and called Paul Connell of Norcal Rodent Proofing. Paul inspected the attic, roof, and garage and covered up all the open holes in the house. He also placed traps in the attic and garage. Paul worked deligently and thoroughly, ensuring the job was done right. I appreciated Paul's professionalism. He clearly showed me the before and after picures of the work done. I would not hesitate in hiring Paul again.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. As a real estate agent, I needed a reliable company to address a rodent issue before bringing a property to market, and they exceeded every expectation. Paul and Larry truly know what they're doing. There was no cutting corners, just thorough, professional, high quality work from start to finish. They went above and beyond to ensure every issue at the property was properly handled. I especially appreciated that they documented everything with detailed photos of the work they performed. Called for an inspection and got same day service. The price was ideal for the amount of work. After doing the job we will follow up with another update. Amazing photos with great detail to the attention of our new home. Highly Recommend

WARNING. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The owner Paul Connell of Norcal Rodent took my money for a job that he refused to finish. I contacted repeatedly by text and phone requesting he finish the job. He became verbally aggressive, cussing, and threatened my family and me with physical harm. I had to find another company to finish the job. If you read his google reviews he has a history of taking money from clients and not finishing the work and then becoming verbally abusive and very threatening. I subsequently spoke with another contractor who used to employ him and he said the same thing. He apparently has a long history of similar behavior. Also, I can find no evidence this company has a proper business license.

Paul and his crew with Norcal Rodent Proofing did a thorough job of cleaning out our crawl space ( very dirty with lots of insulation pulled down), placing plastic under the house and repairing holes in under house ducts caused by rodent damage. He likes doing a good job and imparts his expectations to his workers - he notices small openings and does a lot of the patchwork himself. He is willing to also work with reasonable owner suggestions or give feedback based on his experience. Rodent clean up and house proofing is hard and tedious work and of course the rodents can find their way back in after a few years so I will be happy to work with him in the future. He has a specific way of working ( being detailed with every client) so often runs late, but is good about letting you know so recommend being open ended about appt times. Have worked with numerous pest business' for my home in the past and I think Norcal has been the best so far in actually doing all of the work required.

Highly recommend Paul & Team. We used Norcal Rodent for several properties over the last 5 years. I must say, I couldn’t have happier tenants for solving our rental properties infestations so quickly. The work speaks for itself. If you want the problem solved the first time, Give Paul @ Norcal a call he always follows up. Couldn’t be happier with the service.

We hired Paul for a rodent issue in our home and garage on 12/9/24. Upon inspection, Paul offered to clear the attic of the clutter and debris and lay new insulation. The work was done quickly and well. Even our electrician commented on the good work which is the only reason this review isn't 1 out of 5. The subsequent follow-up and behavior left a lot to be desired. We noticed one of our recessed lights was protruding from the ceiling. Paul came out to check the damage and assured us he would fix it. Paul did not follow-up to schedule the repair or the weekly trap check visits per the contract. Given the holidays it was understandable and we didn't press the issue. My wife followed up on 1/6/25 and 1/15/25 but he did not commit to a date. He also asked for money towards the repair. While having other work done on our house on 1/17/25, my wife asked me to follow-up with Paul. Despite his pleasant demeanor in person, he did a complete 180 via text. He was hostile and disrespectful without provocation. In the end he elected not to follow through with the repair or the weekly trap checks. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Hidden amongst the five star reviews on Google and Yelp are accounts of similar behavior. All of them seemingly after he's been paid and have to do with warranty or follow-ups.

Paul's team is very good at rodent proofing. We had an issue with rodents and saw droppings all throughout the house. He came out the next day, did a quick inspection, and quoted us a more than fair price to do the work. The attic was in worse condition than we thought. They were destroyed by the rodents over time. paul's team came in, removed all of the insulation, vaccumed, and it almost looked brand new afterwards. They set traps, came back and checked them and we caught 2 live rats over the course of a couple weeks. They were very thorough, they came back to install insulation, and saw some droppings. Just in case, they delayed the insulation and checked again. We also had an issue with the bbq and Paul and team put mesh around it for free. They are good at what they do!

I would highly recommend Norcal rodent proofing. We had three estimates and selected Paul based on the glowing reviews of some previous clients with larger homes. Paul and his crew did not disappoint. They were professional, meticulous, and took great pride in the quality of their service. Paul returned on a number of occasions to check to see if there was any evidence of rat activity. We are very thankful to have our issue resolved.

Paul and his company are sanity savers! On a day that was over 100 degrees, a smell no one wants to encounter was coming from the crawl space of our home and encroaching on the interior. I contacted over a dozen rodent/attic related companies, and he was not only the only one with availability on the weekend, he came at 4pm on a Sunday. He removed the dead animal and performed a through and very honest reviews on the crawl space and attic locations where the animal would have gotten under the house. Honestly, we've had several other estimates in the past when we heard of rodents in the neighborhood (some of our neighbors have fruits trees, which they love), and it was a fraction of the estimate of others and only addressed what was genuinely needed. In the unfortunate event we would need these services again, which is unlikely after the few holes we had are shored up, I wouldn't hesitate to contact Norcal Rodent Proofing. I will also recommend their services to others who may find the need.

The last thing anyone wants to deal with are rodents, but Paul and his team take all that stress away. I wouldn’t hesitate in hiring these guys to come handle whatever problem you are dealing with. Customer service was great, and peace of mind from a job well done is even better. Paul gave me a fare quote and continued to come back to check his work and make sure we were satisfied - so tough to come by that these days. Hope this review helps someone out there!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. The owner was extremely difficult to conduct business with. I only asked him to fulfill the terms of our contract. He would often berate me both over the phone and in person without just cause sometimes as long as an hour without letting me speak. I only listened (with my ear away from the phone) because I wanted him to still comply with our 2 year warranty per our contract. He would complain that I kept calling him to come back to eliminate the rodents, but I kept having rats. Rather than deal with the owner, I finally hired another company, Original Rodent Proofing, to erradicate the rats. They are polite, courteous, and very responsive. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of this type service.

Truly SCAM, we paid over $10k to hire him to fix the rat problem we have in our foundation, Paul was trying to take advantage of the situation the whole time. He changed his tone and have a really bad attitude after collecting the money. He made us to work with his brother John instead, but after 3 months of the work, we found rat still in kitchen, he told us over the phone, “John” is not his brother, what work he does not to his knowledge, John is not with company anymore, he needs to charge more if he comes back to do more work for us. When he emailed us about the follow ups, he didn’t tell us anything, so we still work with his brother, after we find the problem, he tries to charge more and run away from responsibility. Our problem is not fixed after spending $10k, STAY AWAY. We called, no answers, emailed, he would make up stories we donn’t pick up calls.....STAY AWAY. PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED, money stoled.

Thoroughly professional, highly reliable, always there when he said he would be, dedicated follow through, committed to results. Knows his trade exceptionally well, executed flawlessly. Clean up was meticulous and timely. We appreciated his calm demeanor guiding us through a difficult and rather unpleasant rat problem. It was a pleasure working with him and his crew and encouraging to see there are still people in the trades with high standards and impeccable integrity. We wish all our contractors were like Paul.
