We have a monthly service contract with Green Pest and so far they have been very responsive, timely and reliable. Our service tech, Tyler, shows up within a day or so of identifying an infestation and sets the appropriate traps, which I’m told are more effective in most cases than readily available products on the market. For instance, a mouse problem that the prior owners had been dealing with for years, using their own methods, was resolved within days. Their office support is helpful and professional as well.

All the baits stations were refilled and we notified of the consumption levels. An extra bait trap was provided and a point of possible entry was sealed. Kayla is outgoing, pleasant and professional. She let me know she was here and asked if I noticed any pest activity. She then proceeded to perform her magic! I am so pleased with Green Pest Defense especially since the house is not used all winter. I have never experienced an unwelcome nest or infestation since I have used them in both my home, and my cottage! A few weeks ago my cat and I came for a September respite at the cottage and the cat caught a mouse outside near one of the stations and brought it inside to brag and play with. The mouse escaped under the fireplace insert. We went home and when I returned this week I noticed a silicone basting brush chewed and destroyed and mouse droppings in the kitchen. Kayla was due for a service call that day anyway and came and inspected inside . We determined that the mouse was likely gone since there were no droppings after I cleaned the day before . She set traps in strategic spots in the kitchen and continued her service for the day. She was ready to accept responsibility for a mouse-in-the-house until I explained the culprit was a cat! I alwAys look forward to Kayla's service calls! She is a gem!

I’m deeply disappointed in Green Pest Defense and feel compelled to warn others who care about the environment and animal welfare. Despite marketing themselves as an “environmentally conscious” pest control company, they flatly refused to consider switching to Terad3—a proven, wildlife-safe alternative to second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides. These traditional rodenticides are known to cause secondary poisoning in hawks, owls, foxes, pets, and countless other animals. I see the consequences firsthand as a wildlife rehabilitator, and it’s devastating. I shared research, case studies, and personal experience showing that Terad3 not only works faster but also poses almost no risk to non-target animals due to the way it’s metabolized. I also explained that I have seven pets and would feel far more comfortable using Terad3 than any traditional rodenticide. Their response? They cancelled my account—effective immediately—with no willingness to engage in a real conversation about safety or ethics. This company is not environmentally conscious. They are not interested in safer alternatives. And they are not transparent with their clients. If you are choosing a pest control service because you believe they care about wildlife, pets, or the environment—please look elsewhere. Maine is home to incredible wildlife, and I know many of us care deeply about protecting it. Green Pest Defense is not part of that solution.

When I signed on I was informed that when bait traps were checked a spray around the house for mosquitoes etc was included and would be done quarterly. The spray was not done today. When I asked the tech Mike about it he said it was done on the 17th of May. That was for tics, not for the mosquitoes. I told him I would probably cancel the mice service since the crawlspace was now insulated and he found only light older activity. While he was here I noticed he did not check all the bait stations. When I asked him to check the crawlspace where there had been activity he reluctantly did so. He had a very difficult time putting the door back on the crawl space. When I commented that I had not seen anyone have such a difficult time putting the door on before he accused me of being rude and threatened to leave. I informed him I did not think I was rude, certainly not my intent. I apologized. When I spoke to the office asking about cancelation of rodent control she said she would call back after speaking to the owner. When she did call she stated that both the rodent and mice services were being cancelled, per the owner, because the tech complained of our interaction. Unbelievable!!

Or the fact that we support them and choose not to do business with someone who treats people the way you do? Even when we told you we were parting ways because of the way you treated him you doubled down and called my office team “too sensitive”. Green Pest is a SCAM!! They came out to my house and after putting some ant bait down they said I would be all set. I signed a contract for $265 and one month later I still had ants and they would NOT come back to check my house. When I called they were rude and YELLED AT ME!! DO NOT USE GREEN PEST!! IF YOU DO YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Come install boxes and act very nice then if something eats the poison in the box and scurries away and dies they will not assist in finding the animal at all. I called the guy to help he told me to call another company and hung up the phone on me. Would NOT recommend.

By FAR the WORST customer service I've received in a VERY long time. After Green Pest Defense came out to treat my home, I started to see a new critter appear....I took a video of the insect and asked Aaron what this was. He assured me that he would get back to me "shortly"...After several hours of panic, I started to see these insects crawl on my skin, my dogs skin, and it wasn't getting any better. I waited patiently for Green Pest Defense to get back to me; meanwhile doing online research, calling several health professionals, and Critter Control of Southern Maine to get any insight and sense of comfort. It wasn't until that afternoon that Critter Control of Southern Maine informed me what I had was an issue with bird mites. They told me it's important to get this treated right away to eliminate infestation and when I asked who would I call to help me with this, they said to call "Green Pest Defense" - that they typically handle pesticide sprays. I was in complete shock. I had asked Green Pest Defense to get back to me as soon as possible and that it was urgent. I called several times, left voicemails and texts. It wasn't until Monday morning....over 72 hours later that I finally got a hold of Aaron. I told him that I was very upset and disappointed that I didn't hear back from him after he said he would. He went off on me to say that he doesn't treat bird mites and that he doesn't work weekends...I said look, I understand you don't work weekends, but I initially contacted you well before the weekend, and it's fine if you didn't treat bird mites and you didn't know what the insect in the video was but it's not professional to say you would do something and not do it, ignore my calls and leave me in panic. He responded with "oh I knew what it was, I just DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH YOU." Then he accused me of being a liar saying "YOU KNEW WHAT THAT BUG WAS ALL ALONG...I DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS LIKE YOU ALL THE TIME." He soon after HUNG UP on me. Just terrible. I couldn't help but wonder: Who is the customer here? If he knew what the bug was, then why didn't he tell me? Extremely rude, unprofessional and outright wrong. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GREEN PEST DEFENSE. Despite what they tell you...when it comes to an emergency, they do not have your back. Save yourself the hassle...you'll feel much more safe going with anyone else.

I am sorry that on Monday morning when Aaron returned your 10+ calls/texts you made it very clear you weren't interested in listening to him after speaking to you for over 9 minutes. You then decided your mom also needed to talk to him who proceeded to raise her voice at him. That is the moment when he terminated the call as none of our team members are expected to take that kind of treatment. We clearly aren't the right company for you and that's okay. I have refunded all your money and wish you luck with one of our peers.

The technician who arrived on site was extremely friendly and was very nice to interact with. With that being said I will continue on why this is a one star review. The technician arrived and spoke with me before he started, explained what he was going to be doing and got going. My fiancé and I both work from home right now so we can see about 85% of our yard sitting inside. The technician started spraying our yard on the north side and looked to complete the entire northern perimeter (quite quickly I might add which was impressive). He then went around the back of the house (not visible from inside) and then continued on to the start of the southern side of our home. What seemed to be very soon after he started on the south I looked out and he was gone. There is an extended area of our yard on the south side that we have trained our dogs to use as a bathroom spot, we both can visually see this area and we didn’t see him get there. I called the company asking about that, their customer service representative Aaron stated that john was one of his best guys and that he would never not complete a job to its fullest. I said that’s fine but if it would be possible to have him reach out to me so I could have him tell me that he got that lower area, it’s tough to make guarantees when you aren’t or haven’t been on site. Aaron said that was fine and john would reach out to me directly. After about 3 hours we had not heard from the technician but then received an invoice for payment and the technician had a completely different name on the form. I proceeded to call Aaron back to double check if he was wrong saying john had in fact done our yard or if the invoice was incorrect. As soon as Aaron answered the phone he was irritable and extremely unfriendly. I said that we spoke before and he had said that john completed our yard and we were waiting on a call back but we had just received an invoice with a different tech’s name and if it should be the other tech to reach out to us. He then says this is absolutely unbelievable that he received 3 calls and an email from us, he claimed john had called and left a voicemail (I double checked and no voicemail or missed call exists) and my fiancé had emailed him asking how to pay for the invoice since there was no portal or anything to do online. He said that he guarantees his work and if that wasn’t good enough he was going to cancel the job! I’m somewhat new to Maine and was completely caught off guard on how rude and nasty Aaron was on the phone. I didn’t think asking to have the tech confirm he did an area of our yard was going to be too much of a problem. I canceled our future treatments and won’t be paying for an incomplete treatment of my yard. I do not recommend using them as the treatment of their customers is unacceptable. Good Luck keeping a profitable business when you treat the people paying so poorly.

I've had mice in my apartment for the past few months. Not only have they not been eradicated, the infestation has spread to the other apartments. After being reassured that the traps they set would probably take care of them, I had to call less than two weeks later because I saw several. Aaron, the owner, said he could send someone Friday. I informed him I worked from 9 am to 9 pm. After not hearing from him at all, I called him at 8:40 Friday morning to set up a time to send a technician. He told me his guy was on the way. After telling him I was already at work, he became super rude. He told me he wasn't going to continue to waste his time and resources sending his guys if I wasn't home, and kept repeating I said I worked at 9. I tried to tell him that if he had simply called me I could've told him I leave for work at 8:30 and wouldn't be there. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance as he straight HUNG UP on me. So. Summarization. Still have mice. Have to buy and set my own traps. Rude and unprofessional owner. The technicians were friendly and knowledgeable, but I wouldn't waste your money, because you'll most likely need to get your own traps.

I have no idea where all this good reviews come from. I don’t think they are responsible.Their phone answered with automatic machine always and hard to get a call back. When they show up they talk about doing something needed more money. My issue was not solved but I discontinued their service.

Here in Maine, we paid $300 for bee/wasp treatment since my wife is allergic, and we were assured that we would be safe for the rest of the Summer. The pest controller came out twice since we still had a bee / wasp problem. He also missed a huge hive hence why we problem still have the problem. Save your money and go elsewhere.
