Update. The company did refund the cost of one application and sent money to cover less than a third of the cost to re-sod the damaged areas. The company wrote “the damage to your front lawn has been caused by a variety of stressors, including inadequate watering, mowing techniques, pet or traffic damage, and others. While some of these issues may have been beyond our control, proper watering, along with our high-quality fertilizers, could likely have prevented the extent of the damage.“. My experience with this company was not good, though I’d imagine others are satisfied with them. I highly recommend that all communications be in the form of texts or emails to eliminate any chance of misunderstandings. ————. Original post. ———— I started with lawn care extraordinaire last year in Feb. the lawn wasn’t perfect but it looked decent. Now, after slowly deteriorating to the current mess, they say it’s not their issue, good luck. This is after more than $900 paid to them. I was originally told not enough water and I followed their instructions to frequency and quantity, checking water quantity with containers all around my lawn. As the weather changed, I continued to water the amounts and frequency they recommended for the time. It’s gotten so bad that I finally reached out to the owner. Apparently, this company does not care about dissatisfied customers, and instead of really finding the issue it’s better just to “part ways”. My neighbor had a very similar experience. Beware, they don’t seem to care.

Provider response

We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with your experience. We strive to provide excellent service and went above and beyond to support your lawn’s recovery, including seven free courtesy visits over a 12-month period after noticing issues tied to poor irrigation. We also refunded one application and contributed toward re-sodding costs as a goodwill gesture.
We’re glad to say your neighbors remain happy, active customers. Beautiful lawns are our goal, a goal we reach with thousands of happy customers in our community. We've built a good reputation over the last 46 years. We wish you the best moving forward and suggest you have your irrigation fixed.

I have experienced several issues with fungus on my property. Despite an assessment visit, I was informed that there were no problems. However, I was forced to remove several dead and dying shrubs. I had subscribed to the premium tree and shrub service for approximately two years and only recently discovered the cause of the issue. I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt, but upon reviewing footage from my security cameras, I discovered that the service was not being performed as agreed upon. My doorbell camera, which records continuously, captured footage of a technician spraying only the left side of my walkway and then leaving, neglecting the right side and the rest of the yard. Although my other cameras are motion-activated, it is unlikely that they all failed to detect the technician's presence, as they are sensitive enough to pick up even the slightest movement, such as a blowing plant. Furthermore, the technician would have had to walk past the continuously recording camera to access the other half of my yard and side of house, which he did not do. With respect to the substantial foliage on my property and the considerable cost of the service ($233 per service), I have concerns regarding the frequency and thoroughness of the treatments. When I contacted customer service to discuss this matter, I was subsequently connected to a service manager named Cathie. As I expressed my concerns and requested a refund, she abruptly informed me that "there are no refunds," despite the fact that I have video evidence demonstrating that the work was not performed adequately. In frustration, I requested that she immediately cancel my service and retain the $233 payment in frustration, as she insisted that my cameras were incorrect as if I was someone older that didn't know how technology works. Again, for clarification, my front camera continuously records and I have full video of him spraying just one side and not going back further around the house at all. She then sent me a passive aggressive email following up and stating that she could have in-fact given me a refund (which I auto-pay on file) but she wouldn't give me one now because I told her to keep in frustration when she said they don't do refunds.

Provider response

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand the frustration you were feeling, and we genuinely appreciate the opportunity to address the situation.

We want to clarify that the amount of foliage on your property can sometimes obstruct the view from the Ring camera, which might be why certain areas weren't captured in the footage. However, the technician did treat 90% of the plants visible in the camera’s view. Additionally, our service is designed to nurture and protect your landscape year-round, with treatment methods varying based on the season and plant type (native vs. exotic), which can influence the approach taken during each visit.

Regarding the refund request, we’re happy to refund prepaid services when necessary, but in this case, since the treatment was actually performed according to our guidelines, we are unable to issue a refund. We understand that you’ve canceled the service, but please know that if you had continued with us, our usual practice would have been for a manager to visit your property to review the treatment and provide any additional care needed.

We value your feedback and would have been more than happy to address your concerns further if you had chosen to continue with our services. We are always here to help ensure your landscape receives the care it deserves.

I have been using LCO since about 2015 when we first moved to FL. They come every six weeks and charge about $150.00 for the lawn and weed control. Several days ago, I noticed a large part of the lawn looked like it was drying out. I had just had sprinkler system tuned up, so it was in excellent working order. The LCO guy was out last week to treat the lawn. He rang my door bell and told me that part of my lawn was not getting water. The sprinkler company came out and everything checked out fine. The grass was turning yellowish brown beause it has cinch bigs. The gentleman from the sprinkler company spent a long time showing me and explaining to me what's wrong. I would think that LCO should have taken the time to investigate the issue. Do they just use one kind of spray? I was supposed to get a call back from a manager this PM but he never called. I'll post about the outcome.

Provider response

UPDATE: Please consider revising your review now that you have met with our manager. He was able to show you multiple issues with your irrigation system that need corrected. We are happy to do our part to bring your lawn back to health - as always. Thank you!

Good morning Mrs. Geisler,
We're sorry to hear you're dissatisfied with the service. The technician treated the entire lawn for insects when he was there May 7th. Since chinch bugs are attracted to weak lawns, and since the product needs to be watered in well to work most effectively, it's important to rectify the irrigation issues to avoid ongoing problems this summer. Our manager met with you in February and went through the irrigation issues with you then with the hope we could avoid dry spots ahead of the hot season. I'm glad the irrigation company was able to address those issues on Monday and hope the repairs they made will prevent future dry spots.

We received your call yesterday and have scheduled a courtesy visit from our manager. He should be stopping by today to go over all of these concerns with you. Rest assured we are doing our part to keep the lawn healthy and green. We appreciate your business since 2015 and are happy to help.

I went with this company three years ago after using true green for three years. Their rates are 50% higher than True Green‘s, and they ruined my lawn. They changed lawn technicians in my area about two years ago and my whole neighborhood complained until they brought back the old technician. By that time it was too late and for 2 years my lawn has been in a steady decline. I finally fired them . This a case where you truly do not get what you pay for.

Provider response

Hello Ms. Levine, This summer provided record heat and drought here in Southwest Florida. Lawns without an irrigation system, like your own, suffered terribly. Our technicians are highly trained and worked hard at your property to keep the weeds and turf-damaging insects at bay despite the drought conditions present. We were dedicated to giving you exceptional service, including making three free, follow up visits to check on condition and give your lawn the best chance of survival without irrigation. (These follow up visits were provided by your original technician who has since been promoted.) We are certainly sorry to lose your business considering our efforts. ~Lawn Care Extraordinaire

Called to have some one come out and look at my lawn to setup service as my grass is dying due to a fungi. John came out and told me my yard was fine and didn’t have a fungi. If this isn’t fungi then what would be wrong with my yard? Was ready to sign up for their service and treat asap. But he didn’t seem interested in getting me as a customer, so now I have to figure out how to save my yard from dying.

Apparently it’s company protocol for their guys to spray their poison where other people are working. While talking to the office manager to discuss the issue of spraying poison at people, her response was, “I talked to the technician and he said that didn’t happen, and it’s just the smallest amount of insecticide so it won’t hurt you” while giving me an attitude the entire time. The technicians don’t use any respirator masks so they obviously don’t think there’s any harm in what they’re spraying. As he was driving away, the technician then felt the need to put his truck in reverse to confront me about calling his office. I’ve got everything on camera so I’ll be happy to forward it to the authorities for their review. I’d suggest staying far away from this circus of a company.

Provider response

Hello Mr. Brehm, I am sorry you're upset. Please forward the video to our office for review. Office@lawncareextraordinaire.com. Thank you.

In Grand Palm, all homes are required to have the same type of lawn. It is a HOA thing. Several of us homeowners have been told by this company they will not treat our lawn, as we have the “wrong” kind of grass and they do not treat this type. That may be fine, except they do treat homes within the community. So they just pick & choose their customers? I would agree to your response - except the address on my street you service is one of the first build houses in the neighborhood. In fact it was built prior to the home I own and it has the same lawn as my home.

Provider response

Hello Ms. Thompson, I'm very sorry we weren't able to provide service to your property. You're right - the homes in Grand Palm all have a St. Augustine lawn. You're also right - we have several customers in Grand Palm. The builder installed Zoysia grass, a variety of St. Augustine, in the earliest homes. By the time the builder reached Stuart Dr., the shortcomings of Zoysia were already becoming apparent and the builder switched to the Floratam variety of St. Augustine turf. ***To clarify: the neighbor we service on your street replaced her Zoysia sod in September of 2020.***

My company specializes in Floratam turf and, as our salesman mentioned, we aren't taking on Zoysia lawns at this time. Zoysia is very susceptible to fungus and less drought tolerant than Floratam. As a result, we found our treatment schedule was not enough to keep a Zoysia lawn in perfect health. Rather than having unhappy customers, we made the difficult business decision to stop taking on Zoysia lawns about eight years ago.

Again - I really am sorry we weren't able to provide service to your property. You're welcome to call our office at 941-488-0688 and we will give you a reference of a company that specializes in Zoysia lawns.

Take a look at this video we made a few years ago "Floratam vs. St. Augustine" https://youtu.be/8K-XwRWbY9w and consider changing your 1-star review. Have a great day!

I have used LCE for 8 years residential and was very pleased. When all my beautiful grass started dying I reached out. Come to find out they haven't serviced my yard for many months. Claimed they couldn't get a hold of me. They had no problem emailing an invoice. Beyond dishonest when called out. Tech said my house was under construction, untrue. Next I was putting a garden in, untrue. And finally the funniest excuse there were dog bones in the yard. Craziest thing ever. Zero accountability yet gladly take our money. Office staff is beyond incompetent. Matt, the manager who came to assess the damage was the only honest person I dealt with. Needless to say I would never recommend them again. Horrendous customer service. The VPs endless excuses and responses speak volumes!

Provider response

Dear Mrs. Smith,

After 8 years of our providing good service to you, it is a shame you feel the need to leave this dishonest review. You were never charged for service unless it was given. In fact, we agreed to refund you for the service you requested yesterday and we provided today. There was no dishonesty on our part. We made several calls to gain access to the property & make you aware of the issue but were unable to reach you or leave a message.

We are a locally owned and operated company that works hard to provide exceptional service to all our customers - and we do.

Sincerely, Lawn Care Extraordinaire

We were customers for about 3 years. A couple of months ago they spilled some sort of chemical and killed a chunk of our lawn. We called the office and the woman who answered was aware of the mishap and apologized. After a month or 2 we realized the grass wasn't growing back and asked for sod replacement or a discount on the bill. That's when they denied and lied. They would rather lose a customer than own their mistake. They have no integrity. If I had the capability. I would attach all of the handwritten invoices left on my door after services. My May 30th handwritten invoice does not state "big, weak, dead spot at the left side". In fact, none of April, May, June or July handwritten invoices reference any damage or that extra care was provided. There were certainly no free applications. Do you know how happy I would have been if that were true? Provide me the dates of the "two free applications between regular visits" and I will check security footage to see if your vehicle was in front of my house. Now that I know May 30th invoice was altered after it was left on my doorstep, I have no doubt your company has zero integrity.

Provider response

Hello Mrs. Dreschler,
Though we have spoken with Mr. Dreschler regarding this issue, since you chose to question our integrity here I will respond here as well. We were aware of the spot because our technician noted it - "big, weak, dead spot at the left side" - on May 30. At the time our diagnosis was an unknown spill damage or possible drought damage. In mid-June we responded to Mr. Dreschler's call regarding the spot. He mentioned there was a blue substance that had spilled there. Since 1) we had already determined the spot was not a result of our treatments and 2) we do not use any blue products, both Mr. Dreschler and our general manager concurred the damage was not due to our service. We had already and have since added additional products to help the area recover; including two free applications between your regular visits.

In conclusion, though the damage was not our fault, you insisted we install sod or you would not pay for completed services. Our general manager spoke to your husband again this week and reiterated that we don't use any blue products, that the damage happened between our April/May visits and the area was already recovering well as a result of our extra care. Should the mistake have been ours, we would have happily had a sod company install new sod there. Forty years of business and thousands of happy customers should speak to our integrity. Best of luck to you. -Cierra Evancho, Lawn Care Extraordinaire

Called to set up annual service. The lady I talked to in the office was very friendly and was able to set up service the next day. I was told I would get a call before the technician arrived. My doorbell rang the next day(no call) and before I could answer the door, the truck was driving away. I called the office and was told he would be back. The tech showed up about an hour later and was so rude that I had to tell him to leave my property and I canceled my service agreement. There are to many lawn companies in the area to deal with poor customer service.

Provider response

Hello Mr. Skinner. I'm sorry we "got off on the wrong foot." It seems a series of misunderstandings led to your dissatisfaction and I appreciate this opportunity to explain. Our technicians usually call the afternoon before the visit is scheduled but, since you called on Wednesday and the visit was scheduled for 1pm Thursday, we did not think an additional call was necessary. If you were expecting the call on the day of your service, we must have mis-communicated somehow. The technician had moved on to treat another lawn when you called our office. He finished up that lawn then returned to your house causing the delay between the initial knock and his return. In the end, I think you would have been very happy with our service had you given us a chance to treat or had these communication mishaps not occurred. I sincerely apologize. Best of Luck.
