At Southern Green Lawn & Shrub Care, we truly value our customers and their yards. Our locally owned and operated business serves homeowners throughout the Greater Birmingham, AL area. Our owner, Jeff Green, has been in the lawn care industry since 2005 and opened Southern Green Lawn & Shrub Care in 2011. We are fully licensed in the state of Alabama for ornamental turf and pest control. We are constantly continuing our education in the lawn care industry.

I wasn’t home when Marc serviced my yard, but he always shoot me a message letting me know he will be coming out. My daughter watched him, she said “he didn’t cut no corners” he was very attentive to my yard and he didn’t know she was there and was watching from the window. They have been very prompt to responding to any issues I have had. They are very professional!!!

Southern Green Lawn saved my lawn several years ago when I thought it was a total loss. Jeff nursed it back to health and it’s very healthy today. He is also very quick to respond to unusual situations such as grubs or army worms. Highly recommend. My tech, Tyde, is quick and thorough.

I do plan to stop by to evaluate the area and discuss what steps could help turf successfully grow back there. We appreciate the opportunity to take a closer look and help however we can.

I’m not sure how to rate this service today. I can’t say whether it was bad satisfactory or good. I wasn’t aware that he was coming and have no evidence that there was a treatment done. Would it be possible to leave something showing what was done today? The lawn doesn’t look good. It has brown spots all over it. I’m not sure this is from treatment or other circumstances. I would appreciate knowing what has been done and why the lawn is having problems. After providing this post yesterday, I just want to say how satisfied I am with the company’s response. I immediately got a call from the owner of the company and a visit to help clarify the treatment as well as to assess the problem with the lawn. It was not a treatment problem, but likely a moisture issue. We also clarified how future documentation of a visit would be handled. Great response and service!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you were left uncertain about your service visit. Moving forward, we will set you up as a "CALL AHEAD" customer. You will get a phone call the day before the application. This way, you can voice any concerns before the technician arrives. We leave an invoice and a sign in the yard to let you know what was done. This particular application was a granular fertilizer. The fertilizer pellets would be visible in the turf or some on the concrete. Our technicians normally leave service notes and details at each visit, and we’ll make sure this is corrected going forward.<br><br>As for the brown spots, there can be several causes beyond treatment, such as heat stress, disease, or environmental factors, but we’d be happy to come back out, evaluate the lawn, and explain what’s going on. I'll have my production manager Chris stop by today to discuss. Please feel free to reach out to us anytime you have an issue.

I know he sprayed granules. But what is being done about the weeds that are growing in my yard? Am I supposed to go buy weed killer and handle myself?

While it’s only been a couple of days, the grass in my front lawn (which was in fair shape)already looks greener, stronger, and fuller. The back (which was in bad shape) has weeds wilting, and I’m sure the grass will start a recovery phase. Thanks Chris!

I liked the old company, Emerald Green, before the merger. Chris Hogue did a great job with his treatment plan and was always responsive to any particular concerns or issues. Got off to a rocky start with Southern as they forget to treat the back yard and overfertilized part of the front leaving a burned out patch of grass and track marks. Did spot treat some troublesome weeds but only after a callback.

This is the worst lawn company ever. Their "treatments" killed and burned my grass so they blame it on everything from pests to the weather but never taking responsibility for what they might have done. None of my neighbors have their lawns serviced and no dead grass or anything. But for my dead grass they blame it on cinch bugs. Why is my lawn the only one affected by cinch bugs? My backyard is not treated by southern lawn and it's nice and green. Makes you wonder about this company. Don't use them even if it's free!

As our records show, your lawn was already showing signs of chinch bug infestation before our first treatment on 6/21. When our technician visited, you mentioned concerns about the condition of your lawn, and unfortunately, chinch bugs can cause severe harm by piercing the grass and sucking out essential nutrients, leading to the kind of damage you’ve experienced.
