If you’re looking for top-tier lawn care in Thompson’s Station and Spring Hill, I can’t recommend this company enough. From the first interaction to the finished result, everything was handled professionally and efficiently. They showed up on time, communicated clearly, and completely transformed my yard. Their attention to detail really sets them apart—clean edges, perfectly striped mowing, and they didn’t miss a single spot. You can tell they take pride in their work. They also went above and beyond with cleanup, leaving everything looking sharp and well-maintained. If you need reliable lawn care services in Thompson’s Station or Spring Hill—whether it’s mowing, landscaping, yard maintenance, or seasonal cleanups—this is the team to call. Fair pricing, consistent results, and great customer service. Hard to find that combination these days. Highly recommend for anyone wanting their lawn to look its absolute best.

I’ve been a customer of Second Nature for a few years. We are on the lawn program, tree and shrub, as well as a fungal prevention program. They did an aeration and over seeding in the fall. I had some patches that were not wanting to fill in properly at no fault of theirs. Matt called and discussed my concerns. We scheduled an appointment and he came out this morning and spent a few hours going over the yard with me, addressing each spot individually, and doing everything he could to make it successful. He left me with great instructions on watering and gave me his phone number to call if I had any questions or concerns. Top-notch customer service. A lot of lawn maintenance services are a joke, but Second Nature goes above and beyond and their customer service is a five star. Matt was the very best.
Carolyn Duffy
Matt Miller is awesome. He performed my full lawn renovation today with extreme care and knowledge. Highly recommend
Provider response
Thanks so much Carolyn! We will have to pass on the kind words to Matt. Please check out our social media accounts for additional education on taking care of the seed that Matt worked so hard to put down. And let us know if you have any issues!

The entire experience from initial phone call to have someone provide an estimate to Justin the tech manager coming out to assess the lawn and follow-up questions about their program was a positive and professional experience! I am particularly thankful for both Kimberly who answered my many questions and the knowledgable, professional, and patient Justin. Both Justin and Kimberly represent the company well and Kim, the office manager deserves a shout out too because she affirmed took the time to hear about why I enjoyed my first experience with Second Nature! It is just important to know that management, such as Kim, is a good listener, who is proud of her team, and supports them by recognizing the worth of her team of employees who she leads! I can not wait to see how they transform my lawn...I will update later with its progress! Update March 9, 2026... I am excited to start another year with Second Nature! So much so that I already prepaid for the entire 2026 lawn care year! The Second Nature team has provided my husband and I with excellent service in the 2025 year! Justin and Kimberly are very professional, knowledgeable and truly care about their customers. The Second Nature team is responsive to calls and truly helped me to clear my yard of any weeds. My neighbor recommended them to me last spring and I am so thankful! Justin and Kimberly truly go that "extra mile." My family looks forward to seeing Justin for the lawn treatments and I always know if I have any questions Kimberly always follows through with finding answers and communicating with clarity and kindness. I am looking forward to once again woking with wonderful Justin and Kimberly as I look forward to seeing the fruits of the labor.

If you’re in need of a lawn renovation, look no further than Second Nature Lawn Care. One of the best decisions we made after plenty of research, as our yard was full of weeds, pests, and bare spots. We knew it would be a process to get our lawn to where we wanted and within days of the initial service along with consistent watering over the next several weeks we immediately were impressed with the results. They’re a faith-based company who truly takes time to consult with you and in just months we now have a lawn we can enjoy with our family! Derek & Kimberly go above & beyond, too. Thank you Second Nature team.
Provider response
Awww thanks Mr. Benjamin! So glad to see your yard turning around. We want to leave you happy with our service like this every time!

FINALLY! We have been in Nashville since 2012 and been through numerous lawn care services who all provided relatively the same services...come at their convenience, don't answer the phone, oftentimes have inexperienced staff with mediocre results. We were actually provided with Second Nature's name by our last service when advised they were not able to provide certain services. On my first call, Kathy answered the phone on the second ring and got the ball rolling with establishing an appointment for assessment of our lawn. We had a quote for services within a day, and the team member who came out walked the property to perform an assessment. Treatment started, and problem areas with the grass were improved after the first treatment. Then came time for an assessment of our sprinkler system, and Rachel handles that department. She was extremely attentive, professional, and timely with getting the assessment coordinated. The FINALLY moment came when Mack showed up. His knowledge of irrigation systems of evident when he ran the system (imagine that) and performed an assessment of sprinkler location, head types, and coverage. He offered a proposal which we immediately accepted, and within a few days he came back to perform the work. With a few head changes and a couple of heads removed, he was able to reduce the amount of water used and provide more coverage to our lawn and beds. Within a couple days, one of out zones was not working, and he came out and rebuilt one of the pumps to get the system operating again. This was just before the heat wave we had in late June, and he helped save multiple plants that would have otherwise not made it. He discovered that another zone was not working and tracked down the problem which, of course, he fixed the same day. So, if you want an expert who knows irrigation, has parts available with him, is able to diagnose and resolve problems correctly, Mack is your irrigation man. I realize this is a lengthy post, but all information is true and worth sharing.
Provider response
Thank you so much for the review Kenny, we really appreciate you taking the time to post this review and for including all the details you did. It made me very happy to read about your experience with us, and I will make sure the rest of our management team reads it so everyone involved can receive back pats and good jobs from their managers. Thanks again for taking the time, we really do appreciate it! :)

From the reviews, it looks like I'm the outlier. We started Second Nature a couple of years ago. The lawn was in rough shape, and they told me it might take a couple of seasons to get it right. Well a couple of seasons later and my lawn looks no better, maybe worse. The disappointing thing is there has been no communication from Second Nature- I had to call them and tell them about the problem (Dallas grass). They came out to look and recommended we do a complete lawn kill and reseed at my expense. I don't think in over two years, I've had any conversation with anyone until I gave them a call at the end of the summer- I'd expect more proactive communication from them as they are the ones servicing the lawn.
Provider response
Greg, I truly understand your frustration regarding the lack of communication and the condition of your lawn. It's disappointing to hear that you haven't seen the improvement we aimed for, and I apologize for not being more proactive in reaching out to you. Your concerns are important to us, and I encourage you to contact us directly via text or call so we can address this matter and work towards a solution together.

After a year of service my yard looks like this… I called numerous times to try and have my weeds and bald spot remedied. All I was met with was up charges for additional services when they never completed getting my weeds removed or my bald spots fixed. My yard now looks horrible and I have fired this company to which they replied, “okay”. They didn’t even try to keep my business. Would not recommend.
Provider response
Thank you for your feedback Mr. Garrett. We don't want to lose you as a customer, but customers can cancel at any time.

Great weed control...poor customer service. We use them for periodic treatments but when it came to aerating and seeding our lawn this fall they totally dropped the ball. Gave me an estimate for the whole yard...called and wanted an estimate for the front and back. They were so concerned with their numbers regarding square footage and price they apparently did the front and sides, stating that is the square footage I paid for. JUST LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMER. I really wanted to be home when they came based on the confusion of the receptionist but had an appointment. Didn't really see any plugs pulled up from the ground nor seed spread in bare spots. When they called to ask how my renovation went and if I wanted to spend more money to do the backyard I requested someone come out and show me exactly what I paid for in the first place. Was scheduled for the first stop of the day. At 10:30 I called, their explanation was because he's a manager he's all over the place, I was expected to understand that, and he would arrive after lunch.By 4:30 we assumed they just don't want our business, which they will find out today.

We were looking for a new irrigation provider and saw Second Nature trucks in our area so I called and ordered a spring-set up. The company showed up unannounced, gave us a lawn treatment instead and left an invoice. They didn't charge us for the treatment since we didn't order it. Because of how they handled that, we went ahead and hired them to lawn care also (weed control) thinking "one-stop shop" would be nice. I once again asked to be scheduled for the spring-set up. They came a couple of weeks later for the irrigation but testing showed leaky valves needed to replaced. So they turned off the system and said someone would come and repair right away and get us set up. I specified again that I also needed a quote for moving some sprinkler heads around. That was almost 4 weeks ago and multiple phone calls despite being told that since we were part of their "annual" program, we would get first priority for service. On Monday, I called again and was promised someone would be out by Wednesday. Today is Thursday. Sadly, I'm left with writing a bad review and finding another company to fix my irrigation system.
Provider response
Hi Tami! We hate that you've had a bad experience with us and that we weren't able to get to you soon enough! We're working our guys as much as we possibly can without running them off to get everyone's systems up and running, but as I'm sure you're aware we have a bit of a backlog to work through. We wish we could give everyone the exact appointment they want, but there are only so many irrigation technicians and so many hours in the day, so we can only do our best to make everyone happy. We clearly didn't meet your expectations, which is understandable given the time you've had to wait. I wish I could snap my fingers and conjure up some experienced irrigation technicians to get these repairs done faster, but since that isn't possible we just have to try to get as many people taken care of as we can as quickly as we can with the employees we have right now while trying to find already trained technicians to hire. We hope you're able to find someone who can get to you faster! Take care! :)

I started working with Second Nature based off recommendations from people I knew when I moved to the area. Initially as was well until they serviced my lawn in the middle of January when my ground temperature was a paltry 42 degrees which many of you will find is far too cold for pre-emergents. I was not notified prior to them servicing my yard or I would have told them not to apply yet. Once I found out, I reached out to the office and the receptionist had management reach out to me directly. The gentleman (and I use that term loosely) was incredibly rude and condescending and treated me like I was personally slighting him by addressing these concerns. I will not do business with people who are rude and unprofessional so I cancelled my services and let them know I would not be paying for a service that was completed when it was far too cold to be effective and was only to give them something to bill me for. That was the last I heard from them and had every intention of leaving it at that until 6 months later I got a call from a collections company. I filed a complaint with the BBB and clearly got the written response (more than two months later) from the same person who I spoke to initially. They proceeded to say that I had not reached out to the office and that some people have to handle things "in their own special way". If I could give this company LESS than one star I would. There are so many lawn care companies in the area, it is not worth working with ones who treat you like garbage and their service is padded and overpriced. And as another side note, the two people I knew who recommended them have also since cancelled their services due to the same issues. And to Second Nature, I had no intention of taking this review any further until I read your response from the BBB so now I will tell everyone I see to stay away from your company. It is very obvious that you don't care about that, but, let's be honest, you should....
ctrygrl3
It started off great. Our front yard was much greener and had less weeds. Our backyard never looked as green and constantly had weeds that I kept having to address with the company though, especially along our fence line. I also thought that each time they came out, they could have taken more effort and spent more time doing their job as if it were their own yard, instead of spraying as fast as they could and disappearing like ninjas into the night. On numerous occasions, I had to call them to come back out and respray because the weeds weren't going away in the backyard. Recently though, something changed and we started noticing large clumps of crabgrass and Dallisgrass everywhere, both in our front yard and in our backyard. They just started appearing out of nowhere and kept getting bigger and bigger. The last tech who came out to respray a few weeks ago mentioned in his text after he left that it was going to be hard to kill the large clumps of the crabgrass and Dallisgrass everywhere because of their size. Umm, wasn't that their job!? Did I mistakenly think that I had been paying them a lot of money to avoid getting them in my yard at all, let alone having them get to the huge size?? We had used Second Nature for just over a year, and our yard looks horrible now! There are so many dead spots everywhere now, from what used to be our green and healthy grass, because the crabgrass and Dallisgrass are just thriving away and getting larger as I type this. :( I'm very disappointed in this company and cancelled future services. Definitely avoid this company.
Provider response
Hi ctrygrl3, we really hate that you've had this experience with us, because our intention is to make your lawn look beautiful, not horrible. I'm not going to try to make excuses here since we should have been able to prevent the majority of the crabgrass with pre-emergent applications in the spring, but it is not really possible to kill the fully matured crabgrass (or Dallisgrass regardless of maturity) without also killing the turfgrass surrounding it. We used to have a product that could do that, but the EPA has banned it for residential use (but not for agricultural or commercial use) so we are kind of hamstrung when it comes to dealing with crabgrass that is fully mature without killing the grass around it. We would really like an opportunity to try to make things right with you if you're interested, since we can kill off the crabgrass and Dallisgrass now with a non-selective herbicide (so the grass around the weeds will also likely die) and then fill the dead spots in with new seed a week or so later. I understand that you've lost confidence in us, but if you are open to working with us on getting the issues fixed I really think we can make you happy again since fall is the ideal time for fixing these types of problems (we can't fill in dead areas during the summer or winter, and filling them in during spring means we can't put down pre-emergents to prevent crabgrass, so fall is the most ideal time to address the dead areas). There are no selective herbicides that can control Dallisgrass, so killing it with a non-selective herbicide like Roundup and then filling in the dead areas with new grass is the best solution in cases where pulling the Dallisgrass up by hand would be unreasonably difficult. We can make this happen for you if you give us another chance. If we've already used our last chance then we wish you and your family nothing but the best. Thanks and take care!

RESPONSE TO OWNER Google will not let me leave a second review in response to the owner. So, this is my response as of 8/25/18. My name here is listed as my maiden name. I am a customer of yours and my name is Elizabeth Graves. Per the last visit you made to my house I was supposed to receive a call from a manager regarding the poor service and a month later, I am still waiting. I told your technician that we did not want your service, he agreed that the yard looked terrible, and apologized. He stated that he would make sure someone called us.. Again, we are alwaiting on your call. See original post below. I have to start by saying that I never leave reviews. But, I feel compelled to keep others from making the mistake my husband and I made. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. We started with this company a year ago by by spending thousands of dollars installing irrigation, aerating, seeding, and using other renovation services. In the fall and early spring, our grass was beautiful. As spring began to turn to summer, brown/dead spots began to crop up. Given the amount of money and hard work we had put into our lawn, we called immediately. We kept receiving calls that a technician would be out to service our yard with fungicide and weed control the following day. No one would ever show. After a week of this, I called and was told that they had cancelled due to weather (and no one thought to inform us). Someone finally came to service our yard. After 2 weeks I called back, as instructed, as our grass continued to look worse. Again, it was a vicious cycle of calls with no sign of a techinician. Someone finally came back to spray fungicide and weed killer again at no charge, but to no avail. We now have nothing but weeds in our backyard, despite re seeding, and the front yard is clinging to life. I am most disappointed with the lack of customer service. We will not be using this company again in the fall and I implore others to beware. Do not waste your hard earned money with this company.
Provider response
Elizabeth, first let me say how sorry I am that your have experienced this level of service from a lawn care company. It really does the industry no good. However, I can't find any record of you being our customer. Please know that we take customer service very seriously here and would love the opportunity to help you achieve your lawn and landscape goals!
Robert Horn
Initially, Second Nature was providing a valuable service for our lawn. We received an aggressive aeration and seeding in the fall. We followed all of the service instructions and when spring arrived, our initial growth was beautiful, however, several bald spots still existed, which we tended to with the leftover seed and directions provided to us by Second Nature. The lawn has since developed dead spots and now has all but died out. We have watered and cut according to the directions Second Nature provided. My wife and I tried numerous times to reach out to Second Nature in order to rectify this problem (prior to the level of dead spots now) and each time we were told that someone would contact us shortly, but alas, this never happened. When someone did finally come out, we never received any follow up and were then told that person left the company, and still no one addressed our concerns or our issue. I did receive a call yesterday to inquire about purchasing some additional services this fall. I informed the salesman of the aforementioned issues and that someone needed to contact my wife immediately to resolve this. 24 hours later and still no return call. I am cancelling services today and would not recommend Second Nature to anyone.
Provider response
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our company. It is because of this that we are able to become better! We are dismayed over the fact that this has been you experience with us. It is atypical. We certainly apologize for any inconvenience and for the experience. We are committed to working with you until you are completely 100% satisfied. Our Director of Operations is awaiting your return call so he can begin the process. Again, thank you for helping us be the best we can be and we are confident we can get you satisfied once again.

I had hopes that Second Nature would live up to expectations, but they have not. My lawn did not have the dark green look that it had when I was treating it. Crabgrass started in July and spread badly. I had weeds of all kinds throughout the summer. They never did get them under control. In August, the lawn developed brown patch, which never was pointed out in their post treatment analysis. Just the usual reporting of crabgrass and weeds. When I did request an on site visit, it took 8 to 10 days for someone to come out. I asked for specific times, such as after 2:00 PM, and apparently those requests were not passed on to the person visiting. Although my concerns were confirmed during the visit, the condition of the lawn was not improved. I found it a bit odd that they did not send someone out that could analyze the problem and do a treatment that day. It had to be scheduled subsequently. Which also took another week. This happened twice. After stopping the service, I received more attention than while I was a customer. Phone calls, emails, etc. trying to get me to return as a customer. Not offering any solutions or a plan to restore my lawn. I do not know where they got the pictures of the lawns on their website. Mine looks like the before photos. Also, they are the most expensive of the services that I have tried. Their quote for aerating and over seeding was ridiculous.
Provider response
Mr. Sikora, thank you so much for taking the time to give us some feedback, we absolutely take it to heart, so we appreciate you doing that! I am so sorry about the service you received and as stated in your review, would love the opportunity to make it right with you. Having started in our second round of service, you missed a vital pre-emergent application that would have helped a lot of the issues we experienced. That is not an excuse for not taking care of the issues though!

We have fixed the communication issue moving forward in regards to the delay between consults as well as the communication of brown patch to each customer and hope you accept our apologies regarding your experience with Second Nature. Please let us know if there is anything we can do, and again, thank you so much for your feedback!

I hired the Second Nature Lawn Care team to do turf fertilization and weed control at our home in Spring Hill Tn. The first year our yard looked amazing, the past year hasn't yielded the same results. I have more dead areas in my yard than I did with no lawn care maintenance program. I Personally know Wade Walden one of the owners and he is a stand up guy. Unfortunately, after several unreturned phone calls to address the issue. My wife and I have decided to go with another company next year to try and bring our yard back to life. Personally they are great people, however If I'm paying you well, I expect results.
