I returned home from vacation to an unwanted visitor. A squirrel had fallen through the chimney and made itself home in my room. I was terrified. Joseph added me to an already busy day, making my concerns a priority. He communicated every step of the way and was so kind, professional, and most importantly, thorough! He took the time to clear the chimney flue and make sure it was closed. He even walked around the property to inspect the chimney cap. He went above and beyond and truly made me feel at ease, despite the VERY unwanted visitor. I pray I am never in this situation again, but if I am I know exactly who to call!

We had bats. A lot of bats. And they can that very day I called. Made a plan for removal. We even had one sneak into an outdoor closet and they were able to help us navigate what to do to keep our family safe. The clean up process was really important to us after the bats were gone. We are now bat free and like the warranty they have for piece of mind. Great service and highly recommend.

Was very nice having them handle the squirrels. They came, set the traps, monitored them and then sealed the holes they were coming in at AND set up woodpecker deterrents that were making the holes to begin with. Just a very easy experience and good to work with.

Joe was very responsive and came out immediately to assess our house for bats. His team quickly sealed up our attic and excluded the bats humanely. He answered all of my questions about bats, squirrels, and attic spaces thoroughly. I would definitely recommend!

Wildlife removal is a difficult process made effective by Mr. Herring’s team. We have had a squirrel invasion that was impossible for me to chase out but Carolina Wildlife Removal has been successful. It’s been a few months and Mr. Herring’s team have returned many times to remove many squirrels from our gutters. He honors his two year warranty with no pushback on what it takes to keep trapping these critters! He has a genuine passion to serve his customers and treat the animals humanely. After three months I think the colony of squirrels is close to being removed, we recommend Carolina Wildlife Removal 100%.

We called Joseph around 6 years ago for help with squirrels in our attic after dealing with another company was a total failure. Joseph was on the job quickly, answered all my questions and addressed my main concern that the squirrels be removed humanely. Joseph's crew patched up the areas where the squirrels were getting in and made sure all the squirrels were out. We were very pleased with their work, and have not had occasion to need their service since then. Yesterday our neighbor told us he had bats in his attic so I decided to call Joseph to see if he could qive me a quote to bat proof our attic. I called around 12:00 and by 2:50 he was here for an inspection. I was bit concerned knowing my neighbor had an issue, but Joseph put my mind at ease by assuring me everything was still sealed up and no bats could get in. Joseph is very pleasant to work with and very responsive of your needs. I highly recommend him to anyone needing wildlife removal.

Joseph was at our store when a deer came straight through the side door, while shopping he heard the noise and the voices of people saying deer. Joseph came running straight to register where deer was on floor. He grabbed the deer and quickly got it under control in less than a minute. He removed the deer from our store and released it outside! I will call Carolina Wildlife Removal for all my future needs at work and at home. My Service Hero !!! The store was busy and this could have turned out another way but I thank God for allowing Joseph to be in the right place at the right time. Forever grateful!! Thank you!!!

We had a deer run in the front door of our grocery store. Needless to say it was pandemonium for a few moments. Fortunately, Joseph was in the store and quickly jumped into action. He gathered the deer up and pulled him back outside. Thank you so much. This could have been a bad experience as the store was busy, at the time of the incident.

Called for the request of help and there answer was “It is not in our job description we are a private wildlife business”

Provider response

You contacted us concerning a turtle on the side of the road that had been struck by a vehicle.
As a private wildlife removal service, our focus is on resolving human-wildlife conflicts and removing nuisance animals from homes and businesses. Unfortunately, we are not equipped or licensed to handle injured wildlife or provide rehabilitation services.
My response to you was "Sorry, we are a private business and thats not anything we deal with".

The man who came out was nice, but then refused to provide a quote citing the "boss man" only wanting to do $5,000+ of unnecessary work. Then they sent me an invoice for the visit even after refusing to provide a quote. We have a few bats in the eaves with a very clear entry/exit point, and other companies provided free estimates to do the work we need to remove them for under $1,000. I would avoid Carolina Wildlife Remove given the business tactics I experienced.

Provider response

We did not refuse to send your quote. Our technician has not even finished his route for the day(your inspection was done at noon today). The quote will be emailed by the end of the business day.
You requested that we only bat proof the one entry point that the bats were currently using on your 2890 sq ft home. This is not the proper way to remove bats. All possible entry points must be properly sealed or bat proofed PRIOR to installing a bat valve that allows the bats to exit. Your home has over a 100 ft of ridge vent and 12
+ entry points that require bat proofing. Our technician walked you around your home and pointed out all that was required to properly bat proof your home with a 5-year warranty. We do not do partial work because it is not effective against bats. Your comment about "the boss man only wanting to $5000+" is factual because that's what it would cost to properly bat proof a home that size. We have to seal any crack and creavis thats 1/2 inch or greater.

I attempted to reach out to via phone to explain things but you will not return my calls.

Joseph Herring
OWNER
I utilized this service for we believed to have either a squirrel, flying squirrel or mice in our attic and walls. I was first very pleased that they came out to assess and walk the property with me. After telling me their professionals would correct the problem on one day, when I followed-up they told me it would be the next day, and then cancelled again for another 5 days. Once all of the traps were set and the areas around the house were sealed, they came out daily to check the traps. After about a week to 10 days, they stated all work had been complete and charged me. That night I had the same issue of hearing something in my walls, so I decided to pursue a second opinion of the issue and the professional pointed to all of the areas Carolina Wildlife missed. They walked me around the property and showed me every single area of potential entry and I was floored by their attention to detail, and then became concerned that Carolina Wildlife had completely mis-diagnosed the issue. After it was all done and said the other company stated that Carolina Wildlife did about half of the value they charged to me and I was due another large amount to the new company. I had asked to speak with the owner regarding the complaint and a potential refund and instead of having a conversation, he was raising his voice to me, talking down to me and belittling me. I always believe in shopping small and local, but you sometimes get burned for doing so. I am sure that they do a good job on a lot of things but identification of an issue, prevention of the issue and customer service are definitely not 1 of them. Owner stated his work had a warranty on it.... but if he can't fix the issue the first time, why would I trust that the second time would be better? I only asked for a discussion about a refund, never asked for a full refund.

Provider response

Mr. LaCombe, we started your work right in the middle of the Christmas holidays and we also had wet weather to work around, that's why there was a delay in the work.

We did not invoice you until the work was completed. You were informed of the 1-year warranty on at least 3 occasions. 1. During the initial inspection. 2. The writen quote 3. The final invoice.

We had communicated via text, phone call and email during the exclusion process. You never attempted to reach out to us to let us know that you still had an issue. Instead, you sent us an email requesting a refund after you had paid Terminix to come out.

You had a warranty and you chose not to take advantage of it.

My fiancé called to ask about squirrels in our attic. We were not told ahead of time that there would be an inspection fee. Over the phone he indicated that he would come out to take a look and provide a quote. We later got an inspection fee invoice of $75 and a very large quote. Need to be upfront about what the inspection fee cost before coming out.

Provider response

We always inform our customers of the $75 inspection fee. If you can provide the phone number that the call was initiated from, I may be able to recover the recorded conversation. This is disclosed while setting the appointment. She was also informed that we would invoice for the inspection when the quote was emailed out.
You were quoted for sealing up the whole structure with a one year warranty against squirrels and a 5-year warranty against bats.

Joseph Herring
Owner

I was informed that it would cost $75 to come out inspect our house and give us a quote The money would be applied to the cost of work. They gave an outrageous quote of over $3400. The guy was almost an hour late and never called to say he would be late. I had to call him and then he was brusque and said let him talk. I wouldn't recommend them.

Provider response

Linda Monaghan,
We gave you an hours window for the appointment, we were running slightly behind schedule. You called us and said that you had an errand to run. You agreed to text us when you were heading home. We arrived not long after that text.
Your home is very large, 3835 sq ft, and it requires a lot of work due to properly seal it up to prevent the raccoons from gaining entry. There are many places that are entry points that requires custom metal work to PROPERLY seal. The home also requires 2 attic fan covers.
The work that your handyman did on the home would have to be removed because it is not adequate and does not meet our standards in order to warranty the raccoon exclusion. You informed us that your handyman had also trapped and relocated the raccoon last year, this is not legal. You also informed me that your husband had recently trapped the raccoon, again, illegally and that the raccoon had escaped the trap. Now the raccoon has been educated by being trapped and it will be nearly impossible to trap. Raccoons are extremely smart and become trap shy after just one negative experience.

I received an email from you this morning concerning the quote and a request for a refund for the inspection. I refused to give a refund because

1. You were informed of the inspection fee up-front.
2. I pointed out to you all the work that was required to properly seal the home, pointed out the MANY places that your handyman missed.
You called us to give you a quote to PROPERLY remove the raccoon(s) AND PROPERLY seal the structure. This is what I gave you.
Then you threatened my business with a bad review if I didn't refund your $75.00.

Joseph Herring-Owner

I paid to have Joseph come out to give an estimate ($75 for less than 10 minutes here) then the estimate was outrageous!!! An insane amount of money ($2200.00) for bats in attic. What's crazy is my neighbor had the same work done by someone else for$400. I think this business making the bulk of its money by giving estimates because quotes are so high no one can afford it....and he keeps $75 for 8 minutes of work.

Provider response

Our estimate included sealing all the siding gaps and properly bat proofing your home with a 5-year warranty. There are approximately 100 or so siding gaps that require sealing.
You are not paying for 8 minutes of work, you are paying for my expertise in the wildlife removal/exclusion field (23 years experience)
I do find it odd that you have written us a one star review concerning the quote and inspection fee (you were informed of the inspection fee prior to the appointment).
If you knew someone that "could do it cheaper", why did you schedule an appointment with us?

Joseph Herring
Owner

Update: Mrs. Thrall, I was on your street the other day pricing a job. I could see from the street that you had someone attempt to remove your bats. They were not successful. I've emailed you a picture of the bat guano accumulating on your home. I would attach the photo here but unfortunately that is not an option.

Please do your research and determine exactly what solution will solve your wildlife problem prior to paying Joseph $3,000 for what may only require a $700 fix. Jospeh is an excellent salesman but if you prefer to keep your money in your pocket, you can pay Triangle Wildlife Removal one third of the price for an excellent job!! Response to Joseph's request for more warranty info: sure I will respond. Every company I called (four total) had very similar warranties, with the possible exception of you offering an extension if we complete a $150 annual inspection. As for apples to oranges service comparisons, why would I buy a $3,000 apple when I need. $665 orange?you may be selling people apples they don't need. If squirrels suddenly begin pouring in my ridge vents, I will use the $2335 I saved to call Triangle Wildlife back. I'm sure they will fix the problem for a fair and reasonable price.

Called this place for starlings nesting in my bathroom or dryer vents. The guy I spoke to was very gruff and short and told me to just email him my information, which I did, and I never heard another word. I found another removal company who was responsive and they came out and did it for less money than this place quoted for me. I also told him that the nest was in the dryer vent and he stood me down that birds don’t build nests in dryer vents. Well, that’s exactly where the birds were. If you want someone who calls you back, find another business.

Terrible experience Carolina Wildlife Removal . The guy was of no help. Very rude and didn’t even attempt to locate snakes. Very dissatisfied with customer services. Yes I saw the snakes yesterday and I told you I heard them today. I am terrified of snakes, what makes you think I will go looking when I said I heard them. The enclose to the fireplace was easily detached because my neighbor took it off. You didn’t know how to take it off so I thank you for not tearing it up because I wouldn’t have paid a dime. Again, I will never utilize your services.

Provider response

When you contacted us concerning the snakes, you were asked "Do you know where they are...can you see them...how long has it been since you saw the snakes?" We were led to believe that the incident had just occurred. Upon arrival, we were told that it was yesterday. The snakes had been seen in a glass enclosed fireplace, to which there was no reasonable access, other than doing property damage. You were not charged ANYTHING for us to drop what we were doing and drive 35 minutes to come out to your property. I do apologize for being a little irritated and not being about to help you.
