Long term client here! I used crossroads pest for 3 years because they were one of the very few that serviced our area. We continued to have issues of mice and roaches (it’s a cabin) even with them “servicing” our property. I paid promptly every month without hassle or delay. On July 5th I received a call from the tenants that there were still issues of critters so I texted the company to let them know and that I would like services immediately (assuming they would offer this service and charge a convenience fee). I’m even happy to share the text message on here showing I was perfectly respectful but i would need it as soon as possible since we run the cabin as an Airbnb and didn’t want the next booking to have issues. To say they handled it unprofessionally is an understatement. The owner called me. Monday morning saying that I was rude and interrupted their holiday weekend. If you have critter problems, stop by Home Depot and grab a trap. You’ll have a better experience and probably less critters.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I think it's very important because it hits on several major issues that many pest control companies encounter. Understanding pest management and what it means and what it is actually capable of is the first step towards having a successful and positive relationship between the customer and the pest control company. I remember speaking with your husband, Andrew back in Oct of 2021 when he was doing the remodeling in preparation for being able to list your cabin as an AirBnB. We talked extensively on the phone that day about the wood roaches that he was encountering and what could be done for both them and the mouse activity he had seen evidence of. I gave him as much information as I could and directed him to our website that is filled with information for the do-it-yourselfer. We pride ourselves on educating all people, not just our customers on how to reduce or prevent future pest issues. 99% of the time that boils down to exclusion work and habitat modification by the homeowner. The better the exclusion work, the fewer spots for pests to enter, but no building is 100% free from cracks, gaps or crevices that allow pests to enter. As wood dries, it shrinks and these entry points become available. In a perfect world what pest management does, is establishes a threshold level for pest activity. In your case, you would prefer 0% as you are an AirBnB and per guidelines you are supposed to keep it as pest free as possible. We understand that as we work with several other AirBnB and Vrbo renters. They choose to block off their service day so that they receive their pest control service each month without delay. Per our records in the almost 4 years we serviced your account, you took 29 of those monthly services. You were scheduled for service on July 3rd (service ticket always has the next service date on it and if there is ever any change to that you are notified in advance) so your service fell on the first Thursday of the month, that is the only day we are in the Irons area. You opted to not take your normally scheduled service even though May, June, and July depending on the weather, is the breeding season for wood roaches. Males become very active during this time and will fly towards lights looking for females and may enter homes and buildings through cracks and crevices around windows, doors, under siding, fascia, eaves and even ridge vents. I believe you made all the changes that we had suggested you make ie; not piling firewood next to the house and not storing large quanities of firewood on your property as the wood roaches will gather in the loose bark and mice are prone to nest in wood piles as well. However as I mentioned in my letter to you in 2023, neither you nor we have control over whether a guest props the door open during their stay, or a screen gets bumped enough so it doesn't sit securely. Nor can anyone control whether they leave food on the counters or dirty dishes sitting in the sink, or the outside light on all night.<br>We firmly believe that people can reduce and prevent future pest infestations by following the information that we share on our website. This information comes directly from MDARD which is responsible for licensing all pest control companies and certifying every pest control technician licensed to work in the state of MI. We sincerely hope that information helps you and/or any other person looking for help with their pest issues. Wishing you all the best.

Been using Crossroads for years and years. Was told this spring that they no longer wanted to service me. This was a complete shock. I guess they are to busy and do not need anyone elses business. What ever happened to loyalty? Non-existant with this business I guess. Sad...just sad! In response to Crossroads reply: The review stems from the cold and unexpected conversation when I called to schedule my spring treatment. Never, ever was ony of your reply to my review said to me on the call. I was simply told that you would no longer be servicing my business, I did not spend enough money with your company and other people, who spend more, were being made the priority. The sad thing is, I was also calling to schedule a monthly service contract with you and would have been spending more money. Had the conversation not been so cold and unfeeling, you would have known this. I, as a business owner, would NEVER throw away a years long customer without first contacting them and FULLY explaining the situation and coming to an amicable resolution. It's just bad business. I am still very sad the way this business relationship has ended. There was a better way of handling it.

Honestly, I can understand your frustration Deb, and while we appreciate you being a loyal, spring and sometimes fall customer, we have experienced so much growth in the your area that we had to make some tough choices this year. I had hoped that you would understand, since you, yourself are a business owner and are well aware that sometimes you find yourself in a position where you have to turn away customers. Never did I expect this type of response from you. We wish all the best now and in the future with all your endevours.

Called let her know I had hornets in the attic of the home. She asked if it was visible from outside. Said it was probably a old nest. I told her again it was in the attic and they were coming inside through the vents. She said she didn't know if she could get them out. I thought I called pest control. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Provider response
Hi Ghyuiv. As I explained it wouldn’t have been prudent for me to say definitely that we could treat and remove this nest from the attic area without first seeing it. I also explained that I did not currently have a large enough block of time available on our Big Rapids day to schedule an appointment to attempt to treat it. Our routes are filled with satisfied customers who trust our professionalism to handle their pest control needs in a safe and satisfactory manner. I’m sorry that you were displeased with the answers you received, but we pride ourselves on being honest with all our customers, even if that isn’t what they want to hear.
