We walked out of our front door this morning to find a Protex yard sign in our yard - similar to the ones that our actual lawn & pest control company put in our yard after service, however, we've never heard of Protex. As we drove through the neighborhood - we saw signs all over in tons of yards - seemingly overnight. I love supporting local business but I am also incredibly selective with who we do business with. This was a pretty unethical and dishonest way to try to grow business and we will certainly never do business with Protex because of it.
Provider response
Justin I am sorry you feel that way. Nothing we did was unethical it was a sign that advertised our Spring discount. It wasn't so people would think we treat your lawn. It is very hard for small businesses to compete online with the large businesses paying huge fees to be listed at the top of google. Instead of over reacting and trying to destroy small business by calling in and screaming at people or posting things online saying that they are unethical maybe you should reach out and ask questions and see what they have to say.

I hope you feel better after trying to destroy a small business who was only trying to do some gorilla marketing.

PLEASE..!!! stay as far away from this company as possible. They destroyed my new st Augustine lawn. Not sure how their reviews look good because they are a disaster. Always blaming something else which is typical of teeeible companies . Manager could honestly careless and is more concerned about CYA. Each time I called they blamed something different and yet the lawn continued to dwteriorate. When I finally cancelled, they never asked why or showed any sense of concern . The first thing they did was point to the hidden part of the contract that says they still get one more final payment out of me. Horrible service and attitude .STAY AWAY

I was hoping for a better outcome for our lawn when I hired this company. My lawn after 3 months of service looks worse than before. Also, I have been watering 2x a week and have a rain sensor which they recommend. Unfortunately I had to cancel my service 😕 **Update Our lawn looks worse than ever. We hired this company to perform a service and all they seem to do is blame the customer for their lack of service. The fact is we watered our lawn twice a week and it was raining basically every day when they started servicing our lawn. Instead of just apologizing and taking ownership they blame the customer
Provider response
Dear Anthony,
We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with our services. We understand that your lawn had several issues, including wild grasses and irrigation-related problems, prior to us beginning to service it as noted on your estimate. For some reason you seem to conveniently forget this very important and relevant factor. It's also important to note that we had only serviced your lawn twice, with the initial service in August and a follow up service in September. Given the limited time frame, we had very little opportunity to make significant improvements with your very problematic lawn.

During our inspection, we observed various biological markers such as pusley and spurge, which scientifically indicated insufficient watering. These issues were present throughout the front, easement, left side behind the fence, and right mid-drive areas. We also noticed uncontrollable wild grasses and crabgrass scattered throughout the front. Additionally, there were active turf-damaging insects like sod web worms and chinch bugs. We had recommended an irrigation inspection both during the estimate and after starting the services, but you declined these recommendations, stating that you were watering correctly and had a rain sensor. However, if the watering had been adequate, the issues throughout the lawn would not have been present. This is fact based science, not our opinion.

Proper irrigation is crucial for a successful lawn, and it requires constant monitoring and maintenance. We also want to highlight that our estimate, which you signed, clearly states that we will treat to correct any lawn or plant issues within reason. However, we cannot control the customer's watering habits, mowing practices, or other cultural practices that ultimately determine the success or failure of the lawn and plant material. As a result, we cannot guarantee the health and condition of the turf or plant material.

Additionally, our estimate also mentions that the prevention or control of crabgrass, goosegrass, bermudagrass, and select sedges are not part of our services due to the unavailability or restricted use of effective control products.

When you contacted us with your concerns, we offered to set up a free service call to address them, but you declined this offer as well.

Sadly based off your other google reviews in your profile, this is a pattern for you to leave such reviews. In regards to our company, rather than deal with the facts of the matter in an objective fashion, you have chosen to falsely besmirch our reputation in a public forum instead of giving us a fair opportunity to work together to get your turf going in the right direction with realistic expectations. We always strive to provide the best possible service to all our customers. If you would like to discuss your concerns further or require any additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Best regards

I hired ProTex about 6 months ago, and while skeptical at first ( due to being burned many times in the past, literally), I have been impressed to be frank. With all the companies in the past, I always had the feeling of a used car salesman trying to see how much he could get out of me. But not with ProTex, the service guy was knowledgeable, and when I questioned he would show me on his phone or iPad, ( to back up what he was saying). Long story short, ProTex has gained my trust, which is very hard to do, and I look forward to a very long business relationship with them.
Provider response

Be aware, this company will continue to invoice you even after you request to stop service! Pro-Re. Invoiced me for 2 months after requesting in an email that I was very unhappy with their service. In addition their products do not work, even after a year of broken promises. The owner and the tech always tried place the blame on something else like sprinkler, watering times, etc.
Provider response
Dear Troy,
Thank you for sharing your experience with our company. Your service notes from the onset of us beginning service with you, all the way through the last service we provided for you spoke about scientific biological markers, cultural weeds, etc. plaguing your property. These are there when irrigation issues are present, allowing for their existence. We want to strongly clarify that we did not install or maintain the irrigation system located at your home of 7210 Seminole drive, Belle Isle, Florida. Our role once you asked for a service call was simply to identify the problems and bring them to your attention, which we certainly did.

Upon inspecting your system on 7-21-22, we found that you pumped water from the lake to irrigation your property. We immediately discovered that the irrigation intake for the pump had come loose from your dock and was laying in the bottom of the lake sucking up sand, leading to sand clogging the entire system. We promptly informed you of the issues and provided videos and recommendations for resolving them. You then informed us that you would have your handyman repair the intake line and flush the sand out of the entire system because he was “cheap”. You informed us that this would be finished the following day, so we scheduled to revisit your home on 7-26-22. We then arrived on 7-26 as agreed upon only to find that the system had not been touched, and was still in fact, completely inoperable. Once the system was cleared of the massive amount of sand that the intake sucked up, we discovered that your back yard zone had 15 gallons of water per minute available to it, which would support (10) 1.5 gallon per minute heads, yet your system had (20) 1.5 gallon per minute heads, double the amount of heads the system could support. It certainly does not appear that qualified professionals installed the system based off of the basic principles that were overlooked. We tried to explain that the issues plaguing your lawn were a result of these major irrigation issues plaguing your system. We also showed you that there were scientific biological markers present that confirm this diagnosis as we prefer to deal in the currency of factual information. This was not what you wanted to hear, so you were not even remotely receptive or objective when presented with the factual information.

Regarding your cancellation request, we understand your frustration. However, our service agreement in which you signed at the onset clearly requires a 30-day written notice, which we did not receive in advance. You emailed in on 11-6 to cancel and your scheduled service was 3 days later. Furthermore, your September invoice for services rendered remained unpaid. As per our policies, we canceled your service after the November application. You were NEVER billed following your cancellation request and quite frankly this is slanderous and easily able to be disproven given the billing dates and your cessation request via email.

Bought a piece of equipment that they were selling. I am also in the horticulture/fertilization industry. I have to say that I am very impressed with the knowledge and experience that the owner has. If I ever needed a good fert/pest subcontractor Protex would be the first place I went.
Provider response
Thank you Shawn for your great review! Thank you for recommending Protex Lawn and Pest Control to others.
