SBM Fumigation

Very disappointed with the way this fumigation was handled. This company was fumigating the house directly next to ours using Vikane (sulfuryl fluoride) with chloropicrin as the warning agent. The exhaust vent was positioned approximately 3 meters from our windows, including a window facing the exhaust. The exhaust was operating while it was around 90°F outside, leaving us in a difficult situation because we could not comfortably open our windows or properly ventilate the house. We have children in the home, and one of my children unknowingly had the window open for approximately 1–2 hours while the fumigation was being aerated. What was most upsetting was the apparent lack of consideration for the neighboring home and the people living in it. If a company is using a highly toxic fumigant so close to another family’s windows, I believe they have a responsibility to communicate with neighboring residents and take reasonable precautions to minimize potential exposure. I understand that structural fumigation requires aeration and that the exhaust needs to be properly positioned. My concern is specifically how close the exhaust was to our windows and the lack of communication with us about the process and potential precautions we should take. We should not have to discover after the fact that a potentially hazardous fumigant was being exhausted just a few meters from our children’s bedroom. I strongly encourage the company to reconsider how it handles neighboring properties during fumigation and to provide clear communication and appropriate safety measures to nearby residents.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will do more than fumigate your house. They will rob your house as well. Do not trust their shady busniess practices. You give them a key to your house and they have unlimited access to home. Avoid at all cost!
