West Coast Falconry

West Coast Falconry is absolutely amazing. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and clearly have deep, respectful relationships with their birds. You can feel the care, trust, and professionalism in everything they do. We visited shortly after I passed my falconry exam in Colorado, and when I shared that with them, they were so excited, encouraging, and helpful. They even showed me some of their spaces and shared insight from their own experience, which meant so much. These women were phenomenal 😁 They were welcoming, skilled, and generous with their knowledge. We worked with Avalon the Harris’s Hawk, and she was incredible. Getting to participate in activities with her was such a cool experience. We were part of a larger group, which usually isn’t my favorite, but they organized everything so well that it still felt smooth, personal, and engaging. There wasn’t a lot of standing around or waiting, and everyone seemed to get meaningful time with the experience. I was also really moved by how much respect they have for the birds and for the regulations around falconry and educational work. Falconry is such a highly regulated and deeply respectful practice when done well, and West Coast Falconry is a beautiful example of that. I only wish I lived closer so I could come back all the time. Highly, highly recommend.

This place is AMAZING! This was a present for my son’s birthday and it was a not only incredible, but will be something we will always remember. The staff was welcoming and their love and respect for the birds was apparent and contagious. Please don’t pass up an opportunity to experience this memory filled adventure with awesome people and ever more amazing birds.

So cool! I got a private raptor outing for christmas as a gift for my partner. Sierra and Tony showed us two different falcons and owls and were fantastic at answering questions/making the whole experience entertaining and enjoyable. The birds are incredible, really amazing seeing them up close in person. Definitely worth the drive from SF and made an amazing gift.

Amazing place to learn about birds of prey!!

Highly recommended, especially for family with children. Owner, Kate is very nice and knowledgeable. Just a friendly note though. Your current shirt supplier ( black long sleeves with barn owl face) provided you with shirts with black dye color came off easily. Good thing that I was suspicious about the fabric and decided to hand wash it by itself. The color came off even after several washings. Please inform your supplier about this unacceptable material. Maybe you need to switch to a new supplier.

We did the Triple Raptor experience, and it was amazing! The birds are so cool, and we really enjoyed learning about the raptors from Kate and Sierra. Very highly recommended!

This is an incredible experience. There's only about 25 locations in the US that have a license for public participation with birds of prey, so it's a treat to have this in our. They use red-tailed Hawks, the Hawks are funny. They have a personality, one hawk laughed at us because she didn't want to work that day.

Loved spending time with the hawks and meeting the falcons. The hosts are truly excellent. They made us feel welcome and comfortable in a completely new and intense experience. The birds are well taken care of, I appreciate seeing the level of stewardship that West Coast Falconry is maintaining. Looking forward to some owl time in the fall.

I came with my 11 yr old son and his best friend, who are both fascinated with birds of prey. It was an experience of a lifetime! They were in heaven! The staff was so knowledgeable and friendly, and the experience of being up close and personal was exceptional. We loved spending time with the birds and learned so much about the from the staff. After our experience was over, the boys just didn’t want to leave. We stayed for at least another hour, observing all the birds in the enclosures, asking tons of questions, and having a great time. I can’t recommend West Coast Falconry highly enough! I’m sure we will be back again in the future for another visit.

Amazing!!! We had the most awesome Owl Encounter experience at West Coast Falconry. Sierra, Tony, and Kate were incredibly knowledgeable and gracious. Their explanations of owl history and behavior were engaging and informative, and they were extremely patient while the birds dealt with wind conditions (for flying from perch to perch). We spent 5 hours driving to and from Marysville for a 1.5 hr experience and it was worth every minute!

I like the West Coast falconry

Amazing! I booked a private experience for my partner's birthday and we had a great time meeting and flying the birds. The staff were incredibly accommodating for us and our 4 month old baby's logistical needs (but the experience isn't for babies! We brought a friend just to watch her). These folks truly love what they're doing and were excited to share their passion and we were lucky to have had the chance to go. If you're considering going you definitely should!

I took my bird loving fiancé here as a surprise and we both loved it! The staff was incredibly nice and knowledgeable and the property was beautiful. We took the owl class and got to hold 4 different owls on the day we went. It was so incredibly fun! I can’t recommend this place enough and we can’t wait to come back!

Perfect place if you love birds!

I've loved owls for a long time, and after moving to Northern CA a few years back, I started hearing and seeing owls in our yard. But it was always from a far distance and I really wanted to be able to see them up close. Well, boy, did I! For my birthday, my wife took me to this Owl Experience and I gotta say, it was as great as I'd hoped it would be. I got to hold four different owls (wearing a glove, of course) and had a few of them fly to me as well. Holding these little feathery predators on my arms was indescribable. The staff was great; expert in knowledge and answered any and all questions. They made sure we all had ample time with the four different owls and gave us backstories on each one. Additionally, we got to see their various falcons, maybe as a teaser to come and attend one of their falcon experiences? All in all, it was fun and most importantly, a memorable experience.

Took 5 kids 11 and under and had an absolute blast! Friendly staff full of knowledge. Very entertaining.

We had a great experience flying Diego with Erica and Tony teaching us! Great opportunity for pictures and seeing many kinds of raptors.

We were there for a photo shoot. We saw several different birds in flight, posing in different environments, flying midair, expanding their wings. We had a great time and the e bird handlers were awesome.

I recently participated in West Coast Falconry's Owl Encounter Experience. They are located just to the east of Marysville, CA. I actually learned about West Coast Falconry this past spring during our regional PBS Silent Auction in Northern California. West Coast Falconry participated in that event by providing an Owl Encounter. The Owl Encounter lasts for 90 minutes and is a wonderful experience. You are one of approximately 6-8 people who get to learn about owls and actually meet them. The handlers are extremely knowledgeable and provide important, but easy training for you to have selected owls fly to your gloved arm or sit on your gloved arm for a photo. During my session we were introduced to two Barn Owls, a Great Horned Owl, an Eastern Screech Owl, and a Western Screech Owl. It should not be surprising that these owls all have distinct personalities. It was delightful to see them, learn about them, and experience them all. My session, the first of the day, began at 9 am and I arrived about 15 minutes early so the gate into the property had not yet opened. My wait was under 10 minutes and the session began on time. It is clear that the staff know and deeply care for all of the owls. They answered every question that folks in my group asked during our session. All who participated had opportunities to get photos of the owls. This was a memorable experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.
