My appointment was scheduled for 8am - 10am. The agent arrived around 8:30. I received a text shortly after 8 am advising me that the agent was enroute. He was polite and courteous. He explained each task before beginning the work and then reported his findings and actions. With respect to my three attic areas (one over my living room vaulted ceiling, a second and a third attic located over my upstairs bedrooms), the agent inspected the areas and then provided a high quality video of the attics demonstrating that there is no infestation. The agent also showed me the entry points that rodents could access to enter my free-standing garage and the crawl space under my house. He then nailed wire sheets over the entry points and showed me where he had done so. The agent answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns. Finally he informed me that he placed fresh traps in the garage and crawl space in case any rodents were on those areas and advised that I should call Alley Cat to schedule a follow up inspection within the next three weeks to inspect the areas and traps.

Alley Cat crew did an amazing job at our place last month to clean up, secure, and set traps for our rat infestation. They did a very thorough job disinfecting the place and even found additional gaps that weren't caught in the initial inspection. What impressed me the most is that they even came a month after to check on the traps! The price was very reasonable and i highly recommend hiring them if you have a problem!

AlleyCat gave us a free inspection and quote. After we accepted the quote, they scheduled the work for the next day. They arrived on time and performed the work quickly and efficiently. The cleaning was obviously well done, and they showed me pictures of all of the work to block ingress.

Williar was prompt and personable. My neighbors needed him to go to their backyard to have access to my garage right away and he was able to talk with them and put them at ease. I also had a lot of anxiety about traps being there and he showed me how to work the traps. He showed me what happens and he said anytime. I feel that a trap has been snapped. Call right away and within 24 hours somebody will be there. He also gave me his personal number so that I could call if I had any questions that I didn't think of at that time. He just did a bunch of stuff above and beyond

We had a very good experience with Alley Cat solving our stressful mouse problem. First their inspector did a free inspection and made recommendations. They explained what was needed to be done, and their steps to be taken. We hired them and they scheduled a treatment day with us. A Forman and his 3 technicians arrived on time and were helpful and friendly. Each technician had a speciality and worked quickly. They respected our home and asked what we wanted and explained what they were doing all the time. We highly recommend them if you have a rodent problem.

$3K spent to continue to hear rats crawl through the walls and ceilings at night. Save your money and go with someone else. The inspector came, noted issues in both the crawlspace and the attic. When the crew came to do the work, they said they only had crawlspace work on their form and refused to work on the attic. Three weeks have passed since the crew came and there has been 0 reduction in rodent activity. There have been 0 rodents caught in the dozen traps they set. The only rats that have been caught were caught by me in traps I set myself before I called Alley Cat. When I called for a reinspection, they said the soonest they could have someone out was in 3 weeks. Either they are trying to get out of upholding their warranty, or they are completely swamped because every other customer is suffering from shoddy work. Not sure which is worse.

Provider response

Hello Alex,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you’ve experienced and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.
After reviewing our records, it appears that the attic was not included in the original inspection or estimate. We are grateful that you highlighted this, as it allows us to investigate why this area - an important part of the property - was excluded. Please rest assured that we will not reject any additional work if it is needed.
Regarding the crawlspace, we did conduct a revisit where our technician documented the area and provided photos showing no signs of rodent activity. Nevertheless, to ensure your property is fully protected, one of our specialists will be reaching out to schedule an emergency re-evaluation. During this visit, we will develop a clear plan for immediate resolution and address any remaining concerns.
Our goal is to provide thorough and effective service, and we are committed to making this right. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for giving us the opportunity to resolve the matter.
Best regards,
The Alley Cat Team

Disgraceful: Inspector called me 45-minutes into the scheduled Free Inspection to tell me they could not come out that day and that I should not have been able to schedule online that day. I called the office to find out what happened. Alley Cat's operator said "this has happened before with others" and that I should have called for an appointment instead. (WTH!) Then why have the online scheduling feature? Waisted my time!

This situation shouldn't have happened, and we take full responsibility.
Our technical support team already begun reviewing our scheduling system to ensure it doesn't allow bookings when we're unavailable, and we're retraining our team to better handle situations like this with more clarity and care.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we hope you'll give us a chance to earn back your trust.
Kind Regards,
The Alley Cat Team

Their ad says that they treat gophers, but the person on the phone said no. Please fix your ad. My friends with mice were happy with them,.

Provider response

Hi Miriam,
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re truly sorry for the confusion. You’re absolutely right to point that out — we currently do not treat gophers, and it sounds like there may be outdated or incorrect information in one of our ads. Could you kindly let us know where you saw the ad (a website, listing, or platform)? That would help us correct it right away.
We’re glad to hear your friends had a positive experience with our mouse services, and we appreciate you taking the time to share both the compliment and the concern.
– The Alley Cat Team

When getting quotes from several pest control companies, Alley Cat definitely impressed me with their thoroughness by taking lots of photos and explain points of entry through out the house. I decided to take their offer and was booked fairly quickly. The day comes, and the crew was efficient and replacing our old insulation and cleaning any space of contamination. Everything was great BUT there was an accident a worker had were they created a hole in my ceiling. They may have missed a beam or slipped, but either way they made a hole and made me aware of the issue. This wouldn't be a big issue if it was promptly fixed. I was told that the materials necessary to fix the hole is not available, and they'll have someone come by to fix it in the future. I didn't hear back from Alley Cat and sent an email with the issue. They were slow to respond so I have had to call several times with each call going to voicemail. I finally got a hold of someone by email and they told me that the I would have to pay the full invoice before they would correct the issue. So they charge my card and booked a follow up appointment a MONTH in the future. So now I have a hole in my dining room ceiling that I get to stare at during every meal for the next month. Overall the actual service went well, but expect that if anything goes wrong, it will take a long time to get ahold of someone and it will take a long time to fix.

They were the worst I have ever seen for rodent inspection. They took pictures of exterior areas where there was no entry to the house and told me it needed to be rodent proofed. I had to call two times to get an estimate with the pictures, they sent duplicate pictures. The estimate was $2587 which is extremely high. When I questioned the amount I was told 4 hours was $2500.00 and 8 hours would be $5000.00.he told me their company was higher than most since it’s the only thing they do. It seems to me if that’s the only service they perform they would be proficient. I have gotten 2 other estimates both were under $1000.00. In addition I received the estimates within an hour after inspection.

Provider response

Dear Ms. Murrietta,

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience and truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. At Alley Cat, we take pride in offering a comprehensive rodent exclusion service that goes beyond the initial inspection.
To clarify, the higher estimate you received reflects the fact that our services include a 3-year warranty with unlimited visits during that period. This ensures that if any issues arise or additional rodent control is needed within the next three years, you won’t incur any further costs. We aim to provide lasting protection and peace of mind.
We understand that our pricing may differ from other providers, but we believe this long-term coverage and commitment to follow-up service is a significant value. Our team is trained to take a thorough approach to rodent exclusion, focusing on prevention, not just immediate fixes.
We would love to discuss this further with you to ensure all your concerns are addressed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Best regards,
Petya
Alley Cat Customer Support
Estimate for mice eradication was egregious and included an unnecessary garage door weather strip replacement for $2k. Found out this company isn’t even a licensed pest control company. The inspection was free but there wasn’t even an option to have them set up mouse traps or to patch up entry points while they were there. I recommend looking for other alternatives. I used Omega and was happy with Omega’s prices and follow up. No one from Alley Cat called to follow up after they inspected my property, as I was told they would directly after the inspection.

Provider response

Hi Kelly, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Here are some key facts:
1. Licensing: Alley Cat is, in fact, a licensed pest control company (License #9411; Exp. 12/2035)
2. Service Options: We do, in fact, offer a paid option to set traps in the same day as the inspection for immediate, temporary relief, upon request. Unfortunately, neither you nor your tenants selected this service. It is not our practice to do same day work and everyone in the company is aware of it.
3. Follow-Up Communications: Our records show that we followed up on the same day after the inspection (4/23/24) and again on the 25th and 28th.
4. Inspection Attendance: Unfortunately, you were NOT present during the inspection; instead, your tenants were. Perhaps there was some miscommunication in discussing everything with them
5. Estimate and Process Explanation: Our inspector informed your tenants about our Estimation process, which includes reviewing and discussing the Estimate by phone for any technical questions. This was made clear at the inspection and reiterated in the Estimate itself. We do not have any record of you or your tenants calling the office after the Estimate was given on 4/23/24
6. Pricing and Warranty: The total Estimate of $2,089 for your house covered comprehensive treatment across three areas: interior, exterior and garage, all with a focus on lasting solutions backed by a 3-year warranty (which includes unlimited follow-up visits.). We even offered to apply treatment behind your appliances where your tenants were worried
7. Weather Strip Replacement: The recommendation to replace the entire weather strip rather than provide a temporary fix is based on our goal to offer durable, long-term solutions. The RodeXit weather strip installed is specifically designed to prevent rodent entry, addressing the root cause of the issue rather than just the symptoms. In your scenario, there was at least 1 quarter-sized hole in it that mice had chewed, and likely squeezed through as an entry point. Oftentimes, short-term, cost-effective solutions to weather strip damage are more appealing to homeowners, (e.g., wire mesh, replacing the broken piece of weather strip with a cutout from another one). The problem with this is that rodents often chew through another piece of the weather strip after the original "gets repaired," let's say 3 inches to the left, and now homeowners are back to "square one." Conversely, we recommend replacing the entire weather strip (which likely is NOT rodent-proof) with a RodeXit one, which is specifically designed to keep rodents out.

We strive to offer transparent, effective pest control solutions and have done so for over a decade, serving over 10,000 homes in the Bay Area. Please feel free to reach out directly if you have any more concerns or require further clarification.

We had a “warranty” with Alley Cat and they never fixed our problem in 3 years of paying them, I.e. pestering them for appointments. First, they used foam to seal holes/cracks which the Contra Costa County inspector says gets chewed over time and isn’t a durable solution. Whenever I call after hearing mouse activity in the attic, it takes >1 hour wait on the phone to talk to a human and typically 3 weeks or more for an appointment. Each time, it’s a different person, many who don’t speak English well. They have scuffed up our crawl space entrances. They sometimes would arrive outside the window (earlier or later) expected so it made no sense to actually have an appointment. There was never an overarching plan to get rid of the mice. Now that our “warranty” is up, we still have mice and are thinking of hiring another company bc Alley Cat is by far the least professional and effective company I’ve experienced working with as a home owner. If I could give them negative star rating, I would.

The man who did the estimate was personable and professional, but the team that showed up NOT only did not know what they should do (isn't there any internal communication in this organization?), but MISSED several places that I had explicitly asked that they cover up (unfortunately, I had to run to a meeting and could NOT inspect the work after they were done). The team also left a huge ladder, and had jettisoned a headlight, a pair of gloves, and a few other detritus (and a poor job of sweeping to boot, leaving trash and rubble) around the house. Most distressing, however, was that one of the holes they covered up was done so poorly that the rats opened it up within a minute or so after dusk, and several rats infiltrated the house. I did somehow manage to convince one of the workers to come back and plug that hole up (as well as several others that the first team had missed), but I have just spent ten days from hell dealing with the rats that had gotten inside the house, but had no easy means to leave. None of the traps that the team had set up worked, so I had to spend a great deal of money and effort to eliminate the pest (which I believe I have done after ten days' worth of strenuous effort). I am distressed that I spent well over $2,000 on a service that merely made life much worse.

If this is the pest control company, BEWARE!!!They are ripoff artists! One year ago they inspected my attic and house subarea, taking many photos, in an attempt to convince me that my insulation was contaminated and heating ducts chewed into and invaded by rats. The "technician" advised me to turn off the central heating system saying we might be breathing in toxic air since the rats might be living in the ducts. They advised the replacement of all ducts and insulation and their proposal was so outrageous I haven't kept it, but it was at least $6k if not more! I called 2 other local pest control companies (long timers in our area) ; one came out and set traps. We caught nothing over a 2 month period. My heating contractor came to inspect the ducts and found no rat intrusions or damage, just minor wear and tear in a couple of places that he taped up. SO...my advice: don't go by the Yelp reviews. Look at the history and track record of any service providers you are considering!

Provider response

At Alley Cat Corp. we strive to give our clients a fair price for the services we provide. We are sorry that the inspection and quote we prepared wasn’t sufficient and caused a two-month period of lapsed time. Time is valuable and it is not our intention to waste the time of our potential clients. In the future, Alley Cat Corp. will keep this experience in mind as we create our current air duct and insulation proposals. We truly appreciate your honest review and we apologize for the inconvenience we caused you.
